775 Tasting Notes
This one is still so tasty. I’m in a bit of a tea rut, but I thought if anything a matcha milk would cut through that.
I let this one sit all day yesterday in the fridge and I’m just enjoying it this morning. Delightful. This is a sipdown of this particular package, but there’s more in the post currently. Phew.
P.S. guys I went to pick up lids for my mason jars at Canadian Tire and I saw they had mason jars with the lid and straw like David’s, but for a little less. I thought it was pretty neat because the one at my store was Aladdin themed hehe.
I was contemplating my next Butiki order and thought I would have a cup of this delicious tea. I very rarely drink this, so it’s a great treat when I do. The sweetness in this tea is something I’ve yet to find anywhere else, which makes it all the more special.
I’m now down to one cup of this one and one cup of White Rhino. Eep. Two of my all-time favourites. But I think I’ve got my Butiki order pretty well decided. Now to wait for the perfect time to order.
My friend sent this one along and it is seriously tasty. It has a subtle genmaicha vibe going on, plus the strong caramel flavour.
I can see why some would think this similar to Japon, but I have to say the tastes are a wee bit different, but the low maintenance (AKA steep at boiling) of this tea might almost put this one in the lead. Gasp. I feel horrid even typing that. I’ll have to contemplate that a bit more before fully deciding.
I tried North Winds last night, but didn’t write a note because I wasn’t too sure about it. I thought I’d steep this today since it has the North Winds base and I have now come to somewhat of a conclusion.
There is a very slight, subtle smokiness here. It’s extremely subtle, almost not smokiness, perhaps more like a campfire from a distance. Like the smoke has travelling through the forest and intermingled with trees and such along the way, however there is that smoky element, and unfortunately I can’t get past it.
There is a light richness to this cup otherwise, and some maltiness, and of course a hint of vanilla. It’s really a well done tea. I can see why this one is a crowd favourite. Sadly neither are for me, though I do have a little bit more to experiment with, so perhaps I can make something work.
I was expecting way more vanilla Sil. It was so similar to North Winds, I was expecting a completely different tea to be honest.
My Whispering Pines order has arrived! Yes!
I thought I would steep some of this up since I was measuring some out to share with whatshesaid anyway. The steeped scent reminded me, pretty near perfectly, of Premium Taiwanese Assam, however the taste is much more akin to Bailin. Very tasty, either way!
It’s a bit lighter than PTA and has that great Bailin taste I love, but with much less maintenance (in terms of Bailin). This one may be a keeper.
Preparation
This is such an interesting tea. I’m glad I snagged more from Anna to test it out a bit more before committing to buying any myself.
It’s really quite tasty, with caramel and cream notes, and something else that must be associated with tamarind. Interesting indeed.
Thanks Anna!
This is one of the teas that caught my eye when I was browsing Butiki. I’m glad it’s good, I’ll have to try it. :D
Its kind of sharp, sour and sweet at the same time. Though I haven’t consciously eaten it since I was in India.
I haven’t had a real-life tamarind, but my friend wanted to try this one, so we each got a sample with our last order. It’s quite tasty.
This was a sample Verdant sent along with my recent order of LB. I haven’t had an oolong in quite some time. I sort of fell out of love with them a bit, because they are a wee bit high maintenance.
I figured I’d waited long enough, and I’ve been bothered by my box of need-to-sipdown teas lately. This one is tasty, but it doesn’t seem extraordinarily different from many other oolongs, AKA nothing makes it stand out against the rest. This is one of my friend’s favourites, but it’s just another tasty tea to me. Perhaps when another oolong mood rolls around, I’ll re-try this one to see if I can get the magic.
This is a sample sipdown.

Dexter sent me a couple cups worth of this a while ago in a surprise parcel. I’ve been hoarding it, for fear I’d never find my precious L’Automne again. The orange and chocolate just work so well with the rooibos base here. The base isn’t off-putting or offensive in any way, which is truly shocking since this is the only rooibos to date that has managed to surpass my strict taste-testing for rooibos. Truly a masterpiece.
Dex is awesome, and sending along a bunch more. This is a celebration cup. Yum!
Have any of you tried the Mango Lassi rooibos tea from Butiki? If so, is it as tasty as it sounds?! :D
I’ve tried it, but seeing as I don’t like rooibos, perhaps someone else will be able to let you know. :) In my experience with Butiki, generally all Stacy’s teas are drinkable, even if the taste isn’t to your liking, just due to the high quality.
i like stacy’s mango lassi rooibos, but to be fair, i am not nearly the rooibos hater that others are…
I find that I like rooibos when the blend is good. I just happen to be a sucker for anything with a creamy flavor profile, which is why I noticed the Mango Lassi. Thanks for your input. :)
This tea is delightful. The coconut, banana combination with the PTA base is seriously awesome. Somehow the ingredients come together as something comforting and none too tropical, which is a great alternative to all the other coconut teas that do come across tropical. Not that I don’t like tropical, it’s just nice to have other options. Especially when they are Butiki-amazing.
I never really reach for this one though, so perhaps 1/2-1 ounce is needed next time I order.
