[Comparison Fujian & LB]
I’m sorry to post similar notes, I’m hopefully making it easier on myself if I need to scroll back through my notes and check something out.
In comparing, I see how different the Fujian is. It’s still by far the closest to LB I’ve ever experienced, but there is a hint of Bailin, which I’ve found in the Ailaoshan as well from Whispering Pines. Yes, more Bailin than LB perhaps, but still LB-like.
I always try to sit back and enjoy my teas (granted, that doesn’t always happen), but I don’t generally attempt to decipher each and every note in every cup I enjoy, unless I’m doing comparisons.
Fancy LB! I just ordered an ounce of this one.
I think a comparison is definitely needed. Which reminds me I want to do a comparison between LB and Fujian. Perhaps all three at once!
This one has all the delicious qualities of LB, and they could be more enhanced, but without a side-by-side I can’t say for sure. However, this is certainly an enjoyable cup.
My Verdant order was waiting for me after I got off work today. Yes!
This I added into the pre-order after the fact, when I saw it was finally back in stock. I wish I had ordered more. It is so tasty, in a way unlike any other tea.
It’s light, yet not light, and so creamy and cake-like, yet not completely cake-like. What an awful description. The black base is so perfectly balanced with the herbal aspects. Nothing is overwhelming or underwhelming. Truly a perfect balance. I could drink this constantly I think.
I’m resteeping now. Oh yes, and it’s comforting. Ahh comforting teas are the best after long, somewhat frustrating days in an office.
[1st steep 1.5 tsp @ boiling, 4 minutes \\ resteep @ boiling 6-7 minutes]
I mixed 2 parts LB and 1 part of this for my morning cup. I haven’t been drinking much tea at all, and not just because I’m spending as much time as possible outside in the sun. I’m back to working full-time, which is actually overtime, since I somehow managed to agree to working 6 days a week full-time hours. I am exhausted.
This cup is tasty though. I have a feeling I won’t restock this regularly once my current package is done. I do enjoy the toastiness, but I prefer other genmaicha-like teas. This one is more similar to LB than genmaicha for me, and LB wins hands down. Which reminds me, my Verdant LB preorder is finally out for delivery today.
wooohoo! htat seems late… my preorder was out like 6 days ago?
i’m sorry you’re doing the 6 hour work week thing… i totally feel your pain.
I’ll be feeling your pain in about a month…well…maybe not 6 days a week full time, but I am going back into the working world somewhat…sigh…I’m so spoiled…
I had no idea what to expect with this one. Part of my cringed at adding it to milk, but I wasn’t sure why.
I just cracked open my matcha milk in it’s mason jar and bizarrely enough it tastes just like something at Lush smells. It may be my “Honey I Washed The Kids” soap bar. Fascinating.
Not bad, but not something I need to stock.
My friend and I did a 5+2 order and decided to split 3 matchas we both wanted to try, but weren’t sure we wanted 30g of a piece. This one one of them.
I made this one as my usual matcha milk. I threw it in the fridge to ‘steep’ yesterday afternoon and just thought to try it now. I had no idea what to expect here, since I’d never even heard of a butternut pie, much less tasted one. I was pleasantly surprised with the initial sips though. There is a definite buttery-ness, though not quite the same as French Butter Cookie, and a subtle nuttiness too. There is also a sweetness that is akin to squash with just a touch of brown sugar on top.
Definitely a great choice. I could see ordering this one myself in the future.
I have debating about doing an order and I don’t know if I want to just buy what I know I like or if I want to keep trying new ones. I was thinking I would just stick with the ones I know I like but then reviews like this make trying new ones so appealing
Eep! Well, I did a 5+2 order myself and I only ended up truly loving 2 new ones. I’m personally just going to see if I can split ones I’m unsure of. I have two lists of matchas for trying – ones that the reviews are so great I’d consider 30g myself, or others that still have decent reviews, but not good enough to consider 30g myself.
Fair enough. All I know is I want Coconut and caramel but I haven’t planned out the other ones I would get. I am debating pear and eggnog because they were pretty good in smoothies and are different than the creamier dessert type matchas I currently have but then I feel like there are others that would be fun to try.
This one tastes just like it says on the box. Peppermint, spearmint, and chocolate. The chocolate here tastes more dark than milk, and surprisingly with all the mint, it’s not overwhelming for me. Interesting indeed. A nice cuppa to finish off a long day at work.
Thanks for sharing Dexter!
Thanks to Dexter for sending some awesome Harry Potter tea samples my way.
This one is pretty tasty, but ultimately too rich for me. The creaminess seems subtle at first, and really sneaks up to create the richness in addition to the apricot here. However, a real upside is that the black base I’m not a fan of from Adagio isn’t really all that offensive or noticeable.
Thanks Dexter!
Yesterday was my first full day back to work. I got a Starbucks card in thanks from the most adorable elderly couple, and I had a personal trainer tell me I should compete. I chalked that up to a successful first day back haha!
I start late this morning, since I work late. I always prefer to start early, but the one upside is that I have a chance to enjoy a cup of tea before work. Yes! I chose this tasty tea, which still reminds me so much of LB. It’s chocolately and malty and delicious. Here’s to another great day.
