783 Tasting Notes

Second time I’m logging this. My sister brought some back from her trip to Europe 3+ years ago. I’ve been hoarding the tea bags she gave me and finally drank some this weekend. I had a great productive weekend! But didn’t do anything I should have done. Saw an awesomely staged satellite opera on Saturday, Agrippina.
Still – let’s just assume that this tea helped me get things done!

Made a carafe of this for iced tea. I’m sure it will be delicious and hydrating when I ice it up.
I have a lot of tea to drink before I’m allowed to buy any more. Large carafes of ice tea is one way I’m trying to get through my overflowing cupboard.
In other news… I’m attending a 4 week pottery wheel class starting Friday’s I keep making jokes that everyone’s gonna get penholders!!! Yay! But I’m secretly aiming to make some modern, fun tea mugs.

gmathis 6 years ago

The class sounds like fun. Our favorite fall and winter tea mugs are hand-thrown.

Kittenna 6 years ago

Haven’t seen you around in a while; hi! We seem to have the same tea-elimination plan :D

One of my friends took a pottery class with her boyfriend a couple years ago, and they had a fabulous time making all sorts of things. Im not terribly artistic, but I think it would be delightful to drink tea out of a mug I made myself.

I got this from Anna’s Tea Shop because I loved Della Terras and they’re the same. I love this one too!
I bought this in April 2016 and I admit I’ve been hoarding it!
I’ve been enjoying drinking from my Harney Royal Palaces Teapot, Teacup & Saucer. It pours like a dream.

That’s good to know…Della Terra did dessert teas like no one else!

Sil 6 years ago

a bunch of ppl will now be visiting that website haha

gmathis 6 years ago

Whaddya know … it’s in Missouri! (Still too far to be convenient; pooh.)

Shmiracles 6 years ago

Della Terra DID do Dessert Teas like no one else!! All their teas were dense with twisty and turny flavors. I’ve purchased a large amount of Anna’s vanilla black and it’s a permanent staple for me.

Did you know the screentime app on your apple devices can be set up to lock you out of apps during specific times of the day? The default setting is to have you phone kick you out at 10p and allow you back at 7a, for instance.
Anyways.
I have a lot of tea to drink.
Today for breakfast I drank mango! Yummmm

Super Starling! 6 years ago

Do you like the screentime app doing this? What’s your experience with it? I’m trying to get a feel for your experience.

Shmiracles 6 years ago

It’s been helpful! I mean, it’s only been a week really, but I’m sure my viewing of trash tv has been reduced haha. There is the option to “ignore” the screen tile restriction. You can choose to ignore it for the rest of the day, or for 15 min and then get a reminder. Even if I do select the 15 min option, it does help make me more aware of the decision I’m making.

Oh interesting! So I was just trying to log David’s Chocolate Orange tea, and the website wouldn’t let me. So I decided to try logging another one and it’s working fine. Idk what that means really. But HI!! I drank lots of tea this week!

I saw the page you’re having issues with. To fix it, scroll down the weird page to the “Edit Tea Info” link, click and you’ll go to the update tea page. You don’t have to change any information about the tea, just click Update Tea at the bottom, and that will set the page back to normal, where you can then review the tea!

Hey Shmiracles! Good to see you back around!

Shmiracles 6 years ago

Thanks for the tip, derk! I’ll be sure to do this from now on.
Hey TeaSipper Hi Hi!

Noooooooooo !! Say it’s not true!!
I just now learned that American Tea Room is closed. Where am I gonna buy Brioche now!? There’s no other tea like it.
Dangit I always feel bad for buying too much tea at one time. But there are those few teas that I never get tired of and it always feels special to drink.
I’ll buck up and look forward to searching for Brioche 2.0. I’m sure there are a few to choose from.
Onward into 2019!

I don’t know if you’ve tried Almond Sugar Cookie from Simpson & Vail, but I believe it has very similar ingredients.

Nattie 6 years ago

I believe someone (maybe you @Cameron?) told me that they’re sourced from the same place?

Cameron B. 6 years ago

@Nattie – It was not me, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Although Almond Sugar Cookie doesn’t mention being organic and there’s no cinnamon listed?

Nattie 6 years ago

Hmmm, maybe that’s not the one I’m thinking of then…

tea-sipper 6 years ago

I was also going to suggest S&V’s Almond Sugar Cookie!

My first tea of 2019!
I’m home and cozy and making, like, 4 different kinds of soup to enjoy over the next week. Yum.
Also the tea! YUM!

tea-sipper 6 years ago

There are maybe 3 teas from Della Terra that I will always always miss, but this Vanilla Tea isn’t one of them!! Cuz I buy it in large quantities from Anna Marie’s.
I drink it every week. several times a week. usually days in a row.
I even mix it with other teas on occasion. to make the other teas better. : )

I just joined Audible for the first time and then binged Robert Webb’s memoir “How Not To Be A Boy” and he said Numberwang in the book! he also said Wanganumb. I laughed sooooo hard.

Always nice to find a lost tea that was loved! I wish I could find DT’s Lime Chiffon.

ashmanra 7 years ago

That’s numberwang!

Kittenna 7 years ago

Dustin – I agree. Lime Chiffon was so delicious. I think I have a tiny bit left because I’m hoarding it.

Dustin 7 years ago

Careful with the hoarding on that one, Kittenna. The citrus will turn on you after a while. I sadly had to dump the rest of my Lime Chiffon after letting it sit to long. It went flat and had a bitter tinge. :(

Anna 6 years ago

I still have some of the honey and spice rooibos, but it’s not as flavorful as it was. I should have just drunk it all rather than hording it.

Umm apparently I drank this tea once already!

But really I’m here because I told a guy via text I wasn’t interested in dating. After more conversation he eventually asked What counts as a date? And what’s just hanging out?
He’s 15+ yrs younger than me.
I’m 41 and antisocial. Idek what to say. And I’m not crazy enough to google this crap.
I’m not interested in intimacy. Is it even possible to just be friends with ppl?
I really wanna be friends, but is that just naive of me.
I’m bummed and need advice. So bummed.

Thanks for being the only place I feel comfortable enough to post! Steepster will always be special.

I have to say I don’t know what counts as dating any more. It’s very generational, it seems. My 13 year old thinks it means snapchatting and going for pizza after school, and maybe Facetiming. Maybe it’s better not to use any terms and just say happy to be friends but not interested in anything romantic or physical?

Shmiracles 7 years ago

Omg I’m seriously glad I asked because that definition of dating is a keeper! Hilarious! I love it so much. And laughing really helped my mood instantly.

ashmanra 7 years ago

I don’t purport to know what dating is. I have been married for 31 years and my husband and I never actually dated. We met and then just…hung out. Listened to music. Played guitar and sang, and then got married eight months later. But what troubles me is that it sounds like this person may have been persistent enough to make you uncomfortable, and that’s not cool. He is pretty young, so maybe he didn’t mean to be that way, and maybe I don’t know enough about what was said and it wasn’t really that way at all. But if he did pressure you and make you uncomfortable, he might be looking out for only what he wants, and not being considerate of you. And we here on Steepster stick up for our won! Go with your gut instinct on whether to “hang out” with him because the pressure might continue, but I do think SOME people can just be friends. Others don’t get boundaries!

ashmanra 7 years ago

own not won!

Shmiracles 7 years ago

You guise are really making my night! Thank you! I don’t think he’s being pushy. He’s actually being very normal which is why I didn’t think it was going there. I’m just THAT awkward. On top of which I’m WAY out of my depth. I value your perspective. Your comment helps me to ask myself more questions!

Sil 7 years ago

I kinda think dating and hanging out can be the exact same activities….it’s more about the expectation of those involved. Ie. going to the movie with a friend, going to the movie with someone you’ve got romantic feelings for. If he’s truly ok with being friends then you should be able to do whatever…. it if he’s just hoping to hang out in the hopes that something more will come of it….blah. I’m pretty anti social as well, so I value the time I spend with others a lot.

Shmiracles 7 years ago

you guise are Great. so great.
also, you might find this as hilarious as i do.
but his text today simply said “We should go with my two goth girls. They are married and your age. Theyre the ones with the passes haha“
i laughed at myself so hard.
and now this ex-dance-major is REALLY looking forward to dancing!!

Shmiracles 7 years ago

the club is private so we need passes which is one reason why i’ve never been.
