1789 Tasting Notes
Another day, another Yunnan. :P I have so many Yunnan samples but it’s great because I enjoy them.
This one seems nicer than some of the others I had. It’s brisk, but not astringent, and it has a nice lingering sweet after-note that makes me want to drink it slow and savour each sip.
Thank you Sil! (176)
What else is new in my world? KOREAN DRAMAS!
I listened to slashreport episode all about Korean Dramas (http://www.slashreport.com/wp/?p=256) and this was the lead-in that caught my attention:
Is your life lacking in hysterical sobbing and 24-hour binge watching of television in a language you don’t understand? Have you always craved an excuse to watch a genre of television that will destroy you so completely that watching someone robotically hug another person from behind is enough to break you into shattering tears? Do you need plotlines that include time traveling aliens and wealthy sons of industry who stand around bleakly with their hands in their pockets all the time? Do you like watching people get hella drunk in tents and then throw up around children’s playgrounds? Then Korean dramas are a thing that you need in your life, and for the first time since S1 of /report, Pru and Waldorph are here to deliver.
FUN, RIGHT?
Anyway if you’re at ALL INTERESTED, I highly recommend FATED TO LOVE YOU. It’s on Canadian Netflix. It’s on American Netflix. It’s ALSO FREE TO STREAM HERE: http://www.viki.com/videos/1044095v-fated-to-love-you-aka-you-are-my-destiny-episode-1
The lead is a cheerful office worker who lets everyone stomp all over her and she sees herself as a post-it girl – common and disposable. But she’s amazing and you just want everything to go right for her and so you’ll watch her through all the ups and downs just to get to that happy ending. It’s listed as a romantic-comedy but don’t let that fool you. You’re going to cry. It’s just… let it happen. :| But it’s worth it. (I’m trying to watch other Kdramas but they just don’t compare…)

This is one of the teas that MissB has sent back for us to try. For a bagged tea, it’s surprisingly good! It’s not as strong as other breakfast teas that I’ve had, but it does have enough of a kick to wake me up. I’m also getting notes of something underneath the tannic black – maybe fruit? But I’m enjoying it as I prepare to duel with FedEx. TODAY I WILL GET MY PACKAGE. (I got to the office at 9:30 yesterday and apparnetly the driver was here at 9:02 trying to drop off this wig we urgently need for a body that’s playing tomorrow. 9:02!!! That’s way to freakin’ early, FedEx.) So I got here at 8:15 because the commute was worked out completely in my favour and now I’m just sorta goofing around while I wait.
Thank you!
Preparation
How about all my awful typos? /0\ I should not be online unsupervised sometimes, especially before my 2nd cup of tea. :P
BTW – WIG WAS DELIVERED. At 10:30. So I totally could have slept in instead of getting up at 6:30am. C’est la vie? (Oh and it wasn’t exactly the right colour either so I hid and read the snarky version of 50 Shades of Gray bc it’s awful and hilarious and as close to the real deal as I wanna get and I needed a distraction from feeling like I messed up, when it wasn’t necessarily my fault anyway. HI!

Ugh. Just, ugh.
I don’t know what happened with this cup, but I took a sip and made such a terrible face that J noticed and asked what was wrong. I can’t drink this.
(It was ok the first time I had it, but it looses its flavour and becomes bitter as it cools. And apprently it’s finicky. PASS)
Right? Total fail! It was fine however they made the sample, but I had 3 cups and only one was as good. But the smell is so strong too. I think it’s like DAVIDsTEA’s root beer where I feel self conscious for drinking it around ppl because of the very strong and odd smell. Not safe at work or at home. :P
Sipdown 174
Thanks Sil for letting me try this. I may have messed it up though – I didn’t realize it was a big jumble of different teas instead of a black blend, and so I went for 4 minutes at boiling. WHOOPS.
I did taste strawberry and some nice black notes, but it was also a little bitter too. Very interesting though! I won’t rate it, but I think I’d be interested in trying it again at a later date.
Sipdown, 176!
So I don’t mean to be a jerk, but I really can’t tell the difference between all the different Yunnan’s. Maybe it’ll be easier after I try a few more. It’s not a real complaint though – I love yunnans! And this one is nice and bright, with cinnamon, honey, and maybe a little squash.
Thank you Sil/Terri!
Sipdown – 178!
And my spreadhsheet is up to date so I can see how many teas I actually have. Sil was right – I more than douled my collection. :D Thanks!
This tea was nice. I’m happy that I could taste yunnan-ish honeyed notes, as well as dark puerh without knowing exactly what to expect. It was good but not essential.
Thanks!
Yeah, I love it. 1 cup is perfect. :)
Seriously. Should be down to 150 without trying by the end of Feb. I COULD push for 120 or 100, but I want to savour old and new. At least it looks pretty good on my shelf – not too crowded.
that’s great! I’m hoping i can make it to 150 by the end of feb…but i’m not holding my breath hahaha
I’m still logging teas from the giant bag Sil gave me (with samples from several other people, and a few surprise ones I got this week). It’s a nice way to spend the day, as I take a break from Korean Dramas.
Fated to Love You was so amazing though, you guys. It’s on Canadian Netflix and the main characters are awesome, even though the guy seems like a bit of a dick sometimes. I didn’t realise how tragic a romantic comedy could get though. (clutches tea close to her for comfort…)
I feel so stuffed up and sinusy, so this was a good choice. I wouldn’t mind being headless right now if it meant I felt better. :P The mint in this does help me feel like my head is clearing though.
This is still a good tea that makes me happy.
Poor Ned.
Haha. I’m sure I could get down to 150 in not much time – so many of those are just one-cuppers. :) And I split about 20 or so of those up to send to North Bay to another friend! Bahaha.
Excellent! (It’s for omens- you prob see me chat to her on twitter/instagram all the time, but she hasn’t been on steepster for ages)
I finished this one up last night! It was good, and the raspberry was nice, but it didn’t blow me away like some of Butiki’s teas have. Glad to have had tried it, but at least I won’t be awake at night mourning THIS tea. (unlike some of her other ones)
Y’know, I’m not even sure WHY I bought this one. I’m not big on roses, and chocolate in tea doesn’t generally work.
I guess I’m a sucker? I went in for Yogi Berry and grabbed this and 2 others that I hadn’t planned on!
But I have no regrets actually! It smelled weaker than I liked, but it’s actually quite flavorful! The carob is a nice tough, and while it is definitely floral, it’s not in your face perfumy about it. The only complaint? I’m not really getting much bergamot in there? I guess it’s hidden under the rose?
Oh, but the rose is becoming more prominent as the tea cools. It’s still enjoyable though. And it’s satisfying my sugar craving which is really the #1 reason to drink this.
Haha, glad you finally got that Yogi Berry. I really need to make a trip in soon – I have a free cup of tea from my bday expiring in about a week, and need to grab new teas before they disappear!
Don’t forget!!! Of course you’ll go in for your free cup and buy enough to get free tea in the next quarter. It’s a trap.
Totally a trap. I had 4×50g this time, and let my mom redeem 3 of them, and my roommate (who contributes to the points balance) have the fourth. I got Oolong Supreme in the previous period, and simply don’t need more tea. (Also, I’m going to get the yellow Timolino. I legit use all 7 of mine, so I am justifying it.)
Thanks Sil!
I really enjoyed this as a nice flavoured puer but I agree that it could be a little stronger. Still, I love the orange in this and might grab more at some point!
Haha. You might have! I think I liked tealux’s flavored puers more than what Davids has. And maybe I"ll grow to appreciate unflavour puer more too!
i only picked this one up because of the smell…oh man the small… yum. otherwise i stay away from david’s puerhs as a general rule…well most of david’s teas lol contemplating key lime for my 50g freebie…
Oh man, I don’t know if I even want to start with Korean dramas just because there is so much to watch as it is here haha. But if I do, I will check out Fated to Love You. :D
Well, this one is only 20 HOURS. :O
(Well, after watching 208 episodes of Supernatural, everything else is EASY in comparions)
I went and looked it up and Netflix thinks I will love it. So I may need to actually watch this.
Some of the humour is very over the top, and the sad is so sad, but I hope you enjoy it!!!
