1789 Tasting Notes
This was my breakfast cuppa today. I’ve had several teas from The Devotea and I have to say that this one is by far my favorite. It has a nice thick mouthfeel, and a lot of maltiness to it that I quite enjoy. It’s a little smoky, and a little astringent, but NOT unpleasantly so.
It’s a great start for a work week! (Especially a work week in which I forgot to bring milk to work for my cereal, and forgot the mouse for my Surface! At least I brought my Surface in – otherwise it’d be a long bus ride home…)

And that’s the last of this! Thank you VariaTEA for loading me up with so much to begin with! I really do enjoy the flavours in the tea – it’s very decadent. Best breakfast!
And I think that I DO enjoy this more than Lupicia’s Cookie tea, although I like both for similiar reasons. I might still end up ordering Cookie instead though, only because there’s nothing else I want from ATR, while I don’t think I’d have trouble ordering from Lupicia!
I drank this today, and yesterday I had American Tea Room’s Brioche and both are really good cookie/pastry teas.
The question is, if you could only buy one, which would it be: Cookie? Or Brioche?
I’ve only had Cookie, but it was really good.
I haven’t even had Cookie, but I’d say Cookie. Brioche just didn’t wow me enough, I guess.
Looking at my ratings, I rated Brioche significantly higher than Cookie but going of memory, I’m remembering Cookie a lot more fondly.

Woah – so strange. This just showed up on my wall now! :P I was wondering why there were zero opinions! :P I think I’m far likelier to order Cookie than Brioche just because I can’t think of anything else to order from ATR, but can get lots from Lupicia!

My cupboard keeps getting smaller – I think it’s partly bc Steepster hasn’t been working well lately and so I haven’t been getting excited about other teas, and can’t-miss sales etc. Partly because I’ve been working part-time a bit too as we wait for Hannibal to start shooting – we’re getting close! I think I get to read Episode 6 on Monday, and filming should start in a month or so?
The Hannibal Season 2 dvd just came out and there’s two special featurettes on it that feature our shop and the work involved in creating all the dead bodies. It was really awesome to watch – it made us look good! Also I sorta laughed when I recognized a few of the photos I took in the dvd. That’s about the limit to my creative input – I’m just admin, not talent. :P It’s all my boss and his employees.
Anyway, this tea was good, but I’m not sure about re-ordering it? I’m just not THAT big on oolongs, although the mint flavouring is quite nice. I just wanted to finish this today since it’s the Last Day of Summer! Woohoo. I love Fall, so I am not upset by that!
Preparation

Indirectly! I work for the Prosthetics company that works on Hannibal (http://www.mindwarpfx.com/), but I stay on the admin side of things. So I get to read the scripts in advance and help coordinate planning so that my boss and his crew build all the dead bodies/organs/etc that they need for each episode. It’s really great. If you’ve seen the show, basically any corpse, even the dead horse, was built by us! I don’t get to go on set or meet the actors though. :| Not unless I get a car, and then maybe I’ll be the one driving the finished pieces to set!

I love this tea, and I love doing geek things so I am taking a break from playing Destiny with my bf to watch Supernatural and get ready for my convention.
It’s going to be in 20 days and I still have 26 episodes to watch. I CAN DO THIS. I actually think I’ll be able to!
This tea though, really, it’s freaking awesome.

I’m going to the Supernatural Convention in Toronto on Oct 11th! I’m SO FREAKING excited – I’ve been working on a costume and everything. I couldn’t afford to go for the whole thing so I decided to go Sat so I could see pretty much every EXCEPT J2 (which sucks, but… Misha? :O). And I’m also doing a photo-op with Misha – it’s going to be great!
And you have to finish Season 5? Did you just miss that one, or is that only as far as you’ve gone with the show? I think S5 is probably my fav, although S8 was pretty close!

I’m just seeing this now – the comments have been so messed up! I started watching season six so then I was catching up through 1-5 gradually, small doses since I’ll be a little sad when I’m caught up. I’m SO excited for you that you get to go!! You will have to say how things went! Everything I’m hearing about this season sounds awesome… I think DemonDean alone (with Jensen’s acting skills) will make this show keep going a few more seasons.
ALSO, I just watched last week the season five ep with the actual SPN con! Loved it.

Backlog; Thank you VariaTEA! I really enjoyed this last night, even though I expected the vanilla to be a little stronger. It was just perfect with a dash of milk.
My kid was pretty sure it was for her, so I guess next time I’ll have to make enough to share.

I would try it if I had one because it’s SO THICK. I steeped it in my metal cup from Davids and it looks very sludgy at the end of the steep. But it’s tasty. And with milk it’s very close to hot chocolate!

Sometimes I use a french press, sometimes I use a steeping cup. Works both ways, really. The packaging says to not use paper filters, and I will, umm, agree with that.
It’s TOO tart for me today, which is too bad because I REALLY wanted something that would help wake me up. (133)

“Just” in that it hung around for ages and I tried to drink the teas but my heart just wasn’t in it. But I did take a few, and I really like all the ones I grabbed!

This was good though. Very juicy and dark and strong. Not as good as Wild Mountain teas, but good.

This totally tastes how it promises and it’s really totally good, except I’m not big on hazelnut unless they’re in that one candy, whose name escapes me. But, OMG. Yes. Butterscotch and haelnut. NAILED IT.
