1789 Tasting Notes
So I drank a cup of this earlier and it was bitter and I hated it.
But I had one cup left so I super-steeped it and then added ice for instant ice tea, and it’s much better.
Also, I realized that Second Flush might mean darjeeling so maybe that’s why it’s a little bitter? I probably should have steeped at 95 instead of 100. Oh well! I’m happier with it then I was, which is good because I expect good things from TeaG teas!
F*ck yeah, sipdown! 193!
Hey! I’m still here, reading your posts and lurking. I just haven’t posted much lately – been too busy at work, and outside of work, I’ve been busy playing on my 3ds, and then not getting enough sleep because of the toddler deciding bedtime is 3am. WHAT?
Anyway I feel like I’m all over the place. Tired. Zombied. And too tired to drink tea. Also it’s a billion degrees in the office so that doesn’t help! And all my samples are 2+ cups each so I am not getting sipdowns at all and that’s a little discouraging. This one puts me at 194 and that’s still too many.
But things are ok now. Great actually! I had an assam earlier that was bitter and awful so I dumped it and am now enjoying the last of this beautiful tea. It’s so good. Courtney – I can’t believe you didn’t like this, but your loss was my gain! :D
-now I’m gonna go post in the Pokemon thread on Steepster. :P http://steepster.com/discuss/6887-pokemon-and-tea
-anyone a Zelda fan that has a 3DS? What should I play after a Link Between Worlds?
Preparation
HI CAVO!! And I am surprised Courtney didn’t like this either cuz I know she enjoys Three Friends but I guess everyone’s unique preferences are what make this site interesting and swapping possible.
Hehe. I’m glad it found a better home. It’s not that I didn’t like it, just not enough to keep it around in my cupboard. My cupboard space is so limited, I can only keep teas I love. :)
Yeah – I really want to like Three Friends, but idk what’s wrong with me. :P Good thing we all have different tastes!
I am so depressed by you Sil. So sad. I could do it if I made every cup my last cup and threw out what was left if it was ‘just ok’ but I feel bad, so I drink it and don’t drink the rest. Or I don’t drink it all all bc it’s meh and I don’t want to deal with it. Haha. So I’m drinking teas I like. But only 4 cups a day and that’s sad-making! /whiiiiiiine/
Ummm… but seriously, way to go Sil and to a lesser extent, VariaTEA We were all in the 200 club and now I am all by myself! :P
I just bought an Adventure Time game for the 3ds while shopping at Walmart for work things. Life is good too!
Yeah, but you’re going to be SO CLOSE to 100. That’s impressive dude. So impressive. Too bad you can’t get real life achievements for that.
I have a lot of samples right now but many are black teas and after a few cups of black, I just find them too heavy and don’t want more. Honestly, I crave water more and more. Plus, when I work the day shift, I come home and plan to spend my evening drinking tea cuz I have so much time but then I pass out super early and no tea gets drunk.
So I’m technically self-employed which has many benefits/drawbacks that I’m not used to. One that I haven’t had to deal with before is that sometimes on Monday, you might get only 4 hours sleep, and then you might just forget the power cord for your laptop and not realize it until you’re halfway to work… And then you have to be VERY careful about how much time you spend working on your laptop before you run out of power, and you remember that this normally wouldn’t be an issue becuase your company would typically provide a computer for you….
WHOOPS! But I had to potentially waste power so I could log this tea. This sweet, slightly smoky, delicious tea. SO GOOD.
Also the benefit of working from my own laptop is that it’s MY laptop and if I have a billion saved tabs on my browser to non-work related sites, well… that’s my business. :)
Thanks VariaTEA! With this tea I’m down to 200 in my cupboard – FINALLY. Also, I have ZERO orders incoming and ZERO plans for orders so I am very happy.
I really want to get some of this though. At some point. I’m happy VariaTEA told us about it because it’s delicious. I steeped it for 5 minutes and then added a little milk and it tastes a lot like hot chocolate. And without all the calories…. Yes…..
So I wanted a TTC tea and it was either one that I had lots of, or this one to finish it up and I went for the sipdown. I know I like it and that I want more. It’s on my shopping list. I can savor the rest and say goodbye for now. :)
Today I’m tasting cinnamon and warm baked bread with honey. OMG. YES.
Thanks again Terri and Sil for passing this on from your split order!
Flavors: Baked Bread, Cinnamon, Honey
I’m glad I had a cup of this. It’s been months and I always forget how good it is but the name just never gets me excited, but then when I finally do, I really like it!
Now to check if Sil has had any of this… I heard she likes ginger and other spices…
So I spent about 10 minutes trying to look through your ratings and the ratings for this tea and I have no idea. Sooooo… let me know if you want some!
And another sipdown as I slowly inch back towards 200. Just four more to go!
(And then I can start working towards 150, and maybe even more from there?) At least I am getting closer to having staple teas that I need to keep around (along with an assortment of smaller .5-1oz samples to suit my varying moods!
Sadly, this tea is NOT tin-worthy. I think it’s the mint that throws this one off for me. The berries are good. The smoke is nice. But there’s just something about this doesn’t blow my mind. I would drink it occasionally, but I don’t think I’d grab more than an oz at a time!
I drank multiple steeps of two fancy teas today, so now I’m binging on this. It’s dessert!
(steeped hot, with milk added for extra creaminess!)
OMG. This tea!
CrowKettle reviewed it earlier and that inspired me to have a cup. It truly is liquid fudge. Soft and creamy, and very chocolately. My 2yo smelled it across the room and pushed up against me with her nose snuffling trying to figure it out, and then tried to grab the cup so she could gulp it down. It had cooled a bit so I gave her some and she was very wowed. :)
I made room for this on my flavoured tea shelf so that it now has its very own tin bc I want to keep this around. (http://oi57.tinypic.com/2iid20x.jpg – also thanks Sil again for the surprise tins!!!)
It’s just so good. And so is North Winds. And the only difference are the vanilla beans right? And an extra $3 an oz? Hmmm…. Hmmmmmmmmm.
Whatever. I want to keep both around! Hahah.
There’s carefully hand-cut grade-A Madagascar vanilla beans, magic, love, and awesomeness in Golden Orchid…the vanilla and the magic are missing in North Winds ;)
Hmm, fair argument….
Okay, I admit…I add certified organic magic to all of my teas. So what, tell the FDA! What’s a little magic gonna hurt?! :D

darjeelings can be finicky things
