Ah, I’ve been hoarding this for reasons I’m still confused by. I can always re-order it, so why would I hoard it?
Anyway. Made a cup up earlier tonight, and it was, as always, absolutely delicious and divine. Smells and tastes identically to a lemon meringue pie.
Preparation
As advertised, this smells like a tart lemon meringue pie. Steeped it smells little, which surprised me.
Drinking it is like sipping a very, very tart lemon pudding, with the egg white meringue sneaking in at the very end and lingering a bit. It’s crazy good, and even better with a bit of sweetener to remove some of the extra tartness. Some sips I notice the meringue, and others I miss it… however I love tart lemon pudding (and have yet to make some since going grain-free) so this is a true delight. Will definitely re-order more, although I did get a 50g tin of it.
Preparation
i don’t think it’s the taste…. it’s a twang i get that announces a new allergy…. i try not to play too much with it. i love the smell of some of the blends…. buuuuut =0(
This was another sample I received from Courtney. I’m so grateful that she was nice enough to send me not one, but TWO packages of tea samples from her cupboard.
I don’t know how to describe what I was expecting from this tea, but it sure isn’t what I got! I guess I assumed it was going to be very sweet with an assortment of very strong berry flavors, which I also would have really enjoyed, but instead it had a slight berry taste and a flavor I wasn’t familiar with. At first, I thought it might be some sort of flower, so I headed over to the Tealish website to investigate. I came to find that this tea contained melon, not flowers, and I immediately realized my error. What a fantastic combination of strawberry and melon!
This is another tea I’ll have to add to my shopping list. I’m excited that Tealish is a Canadian Company and that it’s available at retailers throughout the country.
NOTE TO SELF: Try this one iced as the Tealish website suggests.
I received a sample of Toasty Almond from Courtney this past week when I found an unexpected package waiting for me in my mailbox! Prior to receiving it, I don’t think I had ever heard of Tealish, so I was really excited to try some of their teas.
This tea is nearly identical to DAVIDs’ Forever Nuts. Both had that nice pink color and the same delightful aroma, smelling of baked apples and almonds. At first sip, I found Toasty Almond to have a very strong apple taste; however, I found the almond flavor in my second sip.
Although there isn’t anything that is overly different between Toasty Almond and Forever Nuts, I still prefer Forever Nuts. I find it has a slightly smoother taste over Toasty Almond and since it’s the tea that began my addiction, it will likely be preferred over any other tea I find similar to it.
While this tea doesn’t taste very much like carrot cake, it’s not a bad tasting tea. It has some spiciness that’s not overpowering. I added some creamer and a touch of sweetener (maple syrup) and I found this to be a pleasant dessert type tea.
I tried a re-steep – didn’t work. Had to dump it. Bleh.
I agree – some of their tea’s are going to be a challenge to finish ‘cos they are only ok there’s too much…
on the flip side, it means i don’t order from them and there’s less risk to me falling in love with yet another tea i must have hahahaha
This again is similar to David’s Toasted Walnut, and by similar, I mean essentially the same haha. Although I believe this one is ever so slightly less expensive. The walnut, almond, and green tea is a lovely combination, especially with the added sweetness of the brittle and pineapple. This tea doesn’t need anything to sweeten it up, and it’s nice to find a green tea base with flavours that clearly shine through, but don’t completely overpower the tea.
Toasted Walnut was always one I meant to go and get refilled, but never ended up doing. I’m definitely happy I ordered this one.
Preparation
Okay so I sometimes get a little overexcited in my tea ordering rampages and should’ve realized this is Tealish’s version of Forever Nuts by David’s. I enjoy Forever Nuts, but it didn’t ever make my cupboard permanently.
Perhaps Toasty Almond will make the cut :)
This is a lovely herbal. The combination of baked apple, almonds, and a hint of cinnamon is quite comforting. It’s unlike many other herbals in that it feels slightly more substantial. I’m not quite sure that’s the correct way of wording it, but until my mind works out something more suitable, that’s what we’ll go with. Perhaps it’s the almonds? I will enjoy this one the rare times I’m not trying to caffeinate myself as of late, to get the least amount of sleep humanly possible.
Preparation
I generally do not enjoy fruit teas with a black base. The ones I’ve tried just seem to be at odds between the fruit(s) and the base, but alas, this tea is quite tasty.
I threw this in my order just because. It had melon, which is always so tempting. The melon is right there, beneath the surface, and I’m getting a hint of strawberry. The strawberry and melon work great together. There is a hint of an artificial taste, and usually this would be a deal-breaker, it’s not overly offensive in this tea at all. I am quite happy I threw this one in on a whim. Perhaps there’s hope for black teas with fruit after all.
Preparation
I’ve been quickly making my way through the 50g of this I ordered. I really have only two herbals and I’ve been trying to alternate my black teas with herbals to make it a bit easier on my stomach lately. I also find this tea comforting, and the name suits it so well.
I want to order more, but the shipping is much too expensive when the order is less than $50. Bleh.
Preparation
Another awesome sample from Aimee Popovacki!
I was slightly wary when this brewed up that hibiscus deep red, but it’s actually quite tasty. The hibiscus is clearly there, but it’s not overwhelming at all, which I’m finding so bizarre. Perhaps it’s the vanilla and almond toning it down. Either way I’m really enjoying this tea. So much so that I may have opened the Tealish website and added $50 worth of tea to my cart…
Preparation
Thanks Aimee Popovacki for including this in our swap :)
I’m actually finding this one enjoyable. I wouldn’t order it for myself, but that I can make it through an entire cup of rooibos is saying something! I’m thinking it’s because it has green rooibos, which I don’t find nearly as offensive as it’s red sibling (cousin?).
The more I drink, the more impressed I actually am with this tea. I’m definitely getting the kiwi and apple in the flavours, and perhaps a hint of strawberry. I’ve no idea what mistletoe tastes like, but I just like the idea of it being in there haha!
Preparation
mmmm i love the spicyness of this one, and how its calmed down a lot by the vanilla, and the hibiscus. Its a nice blend to bring in fall because I like it both iced and hot (prefer it hot though). Since I can’t have caffeine right now, its a nice substitute for my evening tea.. I only had a small bag of it because it happened to be on sale when i was in store, I will definitely be re-stocking this one :)
This tea was super divisive in our house this evening! I liked the heavier almond taste, but I wasn’t crazy about the the rooibos end not. The BF was the complete opposite, he liked the rooibos notes but wasn’t sure about the main almond flavour. Either way, this one is super heavy on the almond. They mean what they say when they suggest amaretto as the flavour. If you like almond and rooibos, it is a forceful tea, but I thought it was pretty good!
I was so excited to find this back and then I went and screwed up the steep! What a disappointment! I pulled the bag too soon, so I got a lot of the spice flavours but nowhere near the level of lovely berry or fruit flavours I had been hoping to get as well. Next time I will practice patience and hopefully that will result in a better cup!
I’ve gotten in the habit of setting a timer for the short end of the recommended steep time and then using a tiny cup or ceramic spoon to sample the tea before the whole cup cools. I often end up putting the steeping basket back in, and I get a cup that’s the right strength, instead of being disappointed when the cup cools enough to drink.
That is a good way of approaching them! I find I am much better when I am steeping at home, it is work tea that kills me. I tend to be pretty busy, so I often wind up either forgetting about the steeping tea or being so paranoid that I have left it too long that I pull the leaves early. I need to get better about watching the time I throw it in so at least I have some reference point for how long it might have sat.
Ah yeah I could never get a good cup at work. At my last office job I just drank my way through a box of chai tea bags, so I could just let it steep forever and add sugar and milk.
I have been so behind on logging tea! Long story extremely short, my partner and I are moving cross province in just over a month so I have living arrangements to set, work to find, and a move to organize and, somewhere in there, occasionally find time for a quick cup of tea.
As for this tea, it is as delightful as I remember it being. However, I have paying more attention to brewing times and pulling this tea after a shorter time. I think I actually liked it better with a longer steep. The berry is more subtle with a shorter steep, though it does become much more apparent as the tea cools.
Overall, it was fun to try another cup of this blend, but I think I might need to really play around with the brewing parameters a little more.
Wow! This was amazing! I was intrigued by the ingredients and curious about the smell. Honestly, when I threw in the leaves I wasn’t sure what it was going to taste like brewed up. The steeped tea is fantastic! Heavy on the orange and the cinnamon with the other flavours helping to round things out. I could honestly drink this all evening, I am so glad we have a few ounces of this to work through!
I can’t get over how much I adore this tea! It is so light and fruity, naturally sweet, and just plain refreshing! I give it a moderate steep time with no extra sweetener and just really let it work its own magic. This is a tea I could see myself bringing to work more often! It is versatile, really just not fussy or temperamental. (Basically perfect for having to brew at work!)
I can not believe how much I am enjoying fruit based rooibos! I was so sure this was not going to be my thing, but it totally is. Like a fool, I spent half the day smelling this bag of tea before I caved and brewed myself a cup this evening. I spent hours admiring the smell of the leaves, and wondering why it was so familiar. Ditz that I can be, it took me until I was halfway through the cup to realize it smells like Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait (DT), yeah, that would probably be because of the strawberries…. My own ditziness aside, once I placed the smell and stopped trying to associate the two teas with each other (they really are apples and oranges in terms of comparisons) this is a really nice tea. Naturally sweet, very fruity and an easy tea to drink. The rooibos stayed nice and light so the fruit flavours really shone through. This is a tea I can see myself drinking when I am looking for something easy and appealing to throw in my cup! If you like strawberries and don’t mind rooibos, this tea might be worth a sip!
I gave this a longer hot steep today. Somehow I managed to coax out more of the raspberry and less of the mint. This is always a nice cup, but it was particularly nice to get a cup that was more raspberry heavy as opposed to strong on the mint side of things.

Yum! I will have to remember to go to Tealish and try this when I am back in Toronto.
