Tealish

Took a nice big scoop of thisin my travwller to tutoring tonight. Perfect choice to round out the evening! Sweet, nutty, and just a little spicy. As always, I loved my cup (and the fuschia colour just makes everything better!!)

I’ll be honest, we drink this tea and Forever Nuts pretty interchangeably in my house. However, that does not change the fact that it is an amazing tea. I never get over how nice and comforting the nutty base is against the hints of apple and cinnamon. And what an easy steep! Basically toss it in and forget about it, it only gets better with time!

What to do stuck home on an afternoon other than work and drink much tea? Especially when my Tealish order arrives mid afternoon! This baby is very much a sister tea to David’s Forever Nuts (which we all know I adore). If I had to split hairs, I would say this one hits a but heavier on the apple and the spice notes, and is a less in your face straight nut flavour. But, honestly, I think I could brew them side by side and it would be hard to tell the difference. However, given that is is an amazing blend, is that really a bad thing?

scribbles sent this to me earlier in the summer and I’ve been saving it for once the weather cooled off a little. I don’t tend to drink EG in the summer, but once fall hits I practically live on it. Since the low tonight is suppose to be 60, I figured that was close enough to cool weather, and pulled it out for my final tea of the night.

I’ve really fallen in love with Tealish, hopefully one of these days I’ll be able to place an order, I could probably spend a fortune on their teas. I’ve enjoyed every single one that I’ve tried so far.

This particular EGC has a good balance between the cream and the bergamot. The bergamot was there, but not overpowering, and there was a substantial presence from the cream. What I loved is that unlike many other EGCs that I’ve tried, there wasn’t even a hint of bitterness.

I think I’ll have to do a side by side comparison with my current favorite EGC and see if this one is going to take its place.

After my fail with the Peach Apple Crisp, still searching for crisp and refreshing peach I went for this one. It delivered.

Peach and jasmine must make really good friends because this is the second time I get jasmine in a peach tea. In this tea they make a good pair, they take turns on your palate. usually jasmine is the predominant taste for me when blended with anything else, anything at all. (Unless of corse it’s cloves or ginger, but why put that in a jasmine tea?)

The dry leaf is quite… leafy! there is the white tea leaves but also some other dry leaves, looks like broken up bay leaves, because of their size — of course they are not bay leaves but if you see this you’ll know what i mean. Looks like someone took tea, crushed up some dried rosebush leaves or something, and just mixed it together.

Not much smell on the dry leaf, just smells like dry grass. Beautiful clear yellow brew, peachy goodness when iced.

While I do enjoy this tea as a tea, it’s definitely not carrot cake and if I had bought it as a carrot cake tea, I’d actually be pretty disappointed. It’s a definite subtlety spiced blustery day tea. A tiny touch of sugar does a lot for bringing the spices forward, but I’m really finding myself longing for carrot and cake.

Tea #7 from Traveling Tea Box C

Maybe it’s because my last experience with a carrot cake tea was so bad, but I really liked this! I didn’t get carrot cake, but I liked what I got I guess. It kind of tastes like cooler weather.

First off, though, it doesn’t smell like Burt’s Bees Carrot Day Cream (I’m looking at you DAVIDsTEA…) which was a huge plus for me.

The black base here is mellow, and present but not overpowering. It does pick up some astringency as it cools as well. The taste was cinnamon-y and spiced (got a bit of nutmeg, maybe a tiny amount of all spice). I could get out-of-the-box spice cake out of this maybe, but it needs more richness, maybe some pineapple chunks or some creaminess or some depth before it hits the carrot cake mark.

I’m probably still going to take a couple more teaspoons from the tea box because this is totally blustery morning tea and we’re getting close to that time of year again.

This is a great chamomile! it doesn’t have that typical chamomile taste, that usually turns me off of them!… this one tastes just like apple pie! … which is so comforting after supper and before bed! I HIGHLY recommend it!

This was not one of my favorite chai’s. I think i’m just not a chai person… I did however like this one iced.. maybe its because its summer…. I don’t know, I have saved a little bit so I can try it hot when the weather gets better, but I found it a little bland. Although the coconut did add a little something to it which made it a little creamier and sweeter.. I did like that aspect of it!

I love this tea. A lot of times when you get teas that contain kiwi (ie; kiwi’s big adventure, from davids), it kind of tastes artificial. This one tastes really natural … the ingridients all work really well together. The rooibos is nice and light as well, and doesn’t have this weird distinctive taste that I am very picky about with my rooibos teas!. fantastic blend!

Ok so I really wanted to try all of these new teas relatively quickly because I am really curious about blends! And I’m picking these out deliberately; the double knit was sort of like, ok this is just barely a blend so I’m kind of sniffing the water. Then I picked out this tea because I figured, ok NOW this is a real blend but it’s not too insane so I’m only barely dipping my pinky toe in the water. or something idk

anyways so i used more leaf and less time than recommended because i was lazy this morning and needed to head off to dance class asap

wow this is surprisingly yummy. i’m still wary of blends obviously and i was wondering how the heck this tea has cumin, peppercorns, etc in it and taste even remotely good but it’s really really good. oh man.

the first steep had a lot more of that nut flavor and the second steep i definitely got the cumin more, but for some reason this is still really good? i’m still confused. i shouldn’t like this but i do. i just want to drink this all day.

well… i suppose i can…

I’m being indecisive tonight. I can’t decide if I like this. It’s strange, bizarre/weird to me. Must be the cumin, or the thought of the cumin.
I’m also getting that acidic burn sensation on the tongue (like when you drink too much orange juice?). Yet there is something interesting here. Might be too far outside my comfort zone, and it’s just too strange – or so different from what I was expecting that I can’t wrap my head around it.
I’m getting way more spice than I am “bakery”, not getting much nuts at all.
Will have to ponder this one for awhile.

I want to thank scribbles for including this in our swap, I’ve been dying to try a carrot cake tea. I’m not going to give this one a rating until I make another cup, but my first cup didn’t remind me of carrot cake in the slightest. This has a nice mellow black base to it and only a hint of cinnamon. I think it needs a little more depth before it resembles carrot cake. Not a bad cup of tea, it just isn’t living up to its name.

Nice, chocolate and fruit taste. I thought it was raspberry but I see its supposed to be strawberry. It’s good that this is my last little bit; this time when I made the tea I burned my hand warming up my eggs. Last time I burnt my tongue drinking the tea. Cursed tea.

This tea smells really chocolatey dry and I was happy to see bits of chocolate too. It tasted ok, kind of like dark chocolate and also fruit. I totally burnt my tongue so I have enough to try another cup later which maybe I’ll like it more sans injury :p

Another sample from *sil*’s generous swap! This sounded – and smelled – delicious, but I found the cup pretty much exactly as sil did. I don’t see why the grenadine was added, and found overall the tea tastes fairly weak with a slightly odd mix of fruity/sweet tastes barely making it through. Tasted better with milk (almond, unsweetened), but then was far too weak to be really enjoyable. Glad to have tasted it, and certainly nothing objectionable, but at least there’s one tea I can knock off the grand list of all the teas that must be tried!
