624 Tasting Notes
Day 20 of the advent calendar. The flavour of this tea reminds me of Forever Nuts. Not exactly the same but definitely close. I like Forever Nuts a little better as it tastes less artificial than Apple Custard does. I still like this one. For me, it’s apple and creamy vanilla all wrapped up in sweetness. I don’t get the coriander and I don’t get the chamomile which is fine by me. Not a fan of chamomile anyhow. I don’t feel like I need to keep stocked up on this one when I already have plenty of Forever Nuts. Still, it goes down easy and makes a pleasant enough drinking experience.
Flavors: Apple, Creamy, Sweet, Vanilla
Day 19 of the advent calendar. I was looking forward to this one because I knew I was going to like it. I added agave nectar and milk. It was sweet, creamy and delicious. Reminded me of the London Fog I had awhile back. I re-steeped without the agave nectar and milk and it was still just as good (but weak.) Love this tea!
Flavors: Bergamot, Creamy, Earl Grey, Vanilla
Day 18 of the advent calendar. I should be vacuuming my house but I’m procrastinating by watching “In the Kitchen” and having a cup of this tea. I used to love jasmine green tea but lately I haven’t been able to tolerate jasmine as well as I used to. It’s just not agreeing with me for some reason. Luckily, the jasmine in this tea is mild and doesn’t seem to be giving me a problem. I like it. A good, smooth green tea!
Flavors: Green, Jasmine
Day 17 of the advent calendar. I love peppermint tea. Whenever I’m having tummy troubles, it always helps to settle my stomach. This tea has a nice minty flavour that tastes slightly sweet to me. Plain peppermint tea of any brand has never failed me yet.
Flavors: Peppermint
Day 16 of the advent calendar. Yerba Mate tea is not for me. The favour is too hay-like. I can’t get past it. This tea has a nice tropical, fruity flavour, though. If those flavours were in a different tea base, I’d enjoy them a lot more. Maybe I need to continue to drink teas that I’m not used to so I can learn to appreciate them.
Flavors: Fruity, Hay, Tropical
Day 15 of the advent calendar. I like white tea and green tea and this one has both so it was right up my alley. It has a nice light flavour with a touch of peach and jasmine. You have to be careful not to over-steep this one or it gets terribly bitter. I enjoyed it and I am betting that it would be great iced.
Flavors: Green, Jasmine, Peach
Day 14 of the advent calendar. I’m surprised that most of the reviews for this tea are so negative. I didn’t think it was THAT bad! It turned out tasting just like what I had expected from a tea with a name like “Sugar Plum Forest.” Reminds me of a tea you’d have at Christmas. Spices mingling with fruit. I toned mine down with a dash of milk. I didn’t hate it but wouldn’t buy more either.
Flavors: Fruity, Spices
Day 13 of the advent calendar. This tea was just “meh” for me. Nothing special. I was expecting something more, what with the flashy little red lips candies contained within the dry leaf mixture. All I got was bitter chocolate and peppermint. I would have liked it more if the chocolate was sweeter and less bitter. I’ll finish the sample but I won’t buy anymore of this one after the sample is gone.
Flavors: Bitter, Dark Chocolate, Peppermint
Day 12 of the advent calendar. Halfway there! I was looking forward to this one. It sounded good to me. It had the usual woodiness from the rooibos with a creamy caramel flavour in the forefront and a background of burnt sugar. I had no problem drinking this down. Pretty smooth. Really enjoyed the dry leaf smell along with the smell once it was steeped. This is one I’ll happily sip away at during those cold winter nights soon to be upon us.
Flavors: Burnt Sugar, Caramel, Creamy, Smooth, Wood
Day 11 of the advent calendar. I didn’t love this one. The peppermint is nice. I enjoy peppermint flavour in tea. The hibiscus ruined it for me though. I’m not a fan of hibiscus to begin with but I can tolerate it if I find that it mixes well with the other flavours. I found it was too pronounced here. I’m also not a fan of chamomile. Luckily, the chamomile in this tea is mild so it didn’t bother me. I re-steeped this tea and the hibiscus was lighter and less offensive the second time around. This isn’t a tea I’d ever buy for myself. Just wasn’t that crazy about it.
Flavors: Flowers, Herbs, Hibiscus, Peppermint
