JennyFur sent me a sample of this and it is delicious! Apricot and amaretto are pretty spot on making for a sweet nighttime treat. Thank you JennyFur for sharing with me!

Glad you enjoyed it! Tea forte was a hit or miss order for me and this one was one that I enjoyed. If you want any more, please let me know because I have most of my bag left. With everything else I have I’m afraid its been bumped to the bottom of the pile.

VariaTEA

I have been finding I either quite like them or really do not enjoy them at all. Unfortunately there has been a few more misses than hits for me but this one was very nice. Thank you for sharing.

drank Winter Chai by Tea Forte

Sipdown!

Thank you MissB for sharing this tea with me. It is definitely a nice nighttime treat. Though I am not getting the different chai spices, I am tasting cinnamon. Lots and lots of cinnamon. This is like candy cinnamon hearts although not quiet as “hot” which is a shame because I think I would prefer that to the sweetness. Nonetheless, it is a pleasant caffeine free option for a cold night. Thanks again MissB for all your generosity!

Have you ever really loved a tea and then just one day you could no longer even stand the smell? Well basically that is what happened to me with Forever Nuts and by extension, this tea as well. Courtney so graciously sent me a sample and since I was a huge fan of Forever Nuts, I knew I would love this too. Except one day I made myself a cup of Forever Nuts and could not even drink it. So I have been putting off trying this. However today when I smelled it, I was really intrigued and decided to brew myself a cup. Despite it being buttery and filled with wonderfully nutty flavors, I just could not drink it. I know it is a good cup of tea but it just is not for me. Thank you Courtney for sharing!

Aw I know what you mean. I feel like I had something similar with this tea. Maybe the flavours just become too overwhelming at a point.

drank Oreo Cookie by Tea Desire
5272 tasting notes

MissB sent me a sample of this tea and as I sit waiting for the tea to cool, first thing I notice is that it actually does smell like an Oreo Cookie. Definitely a good start. Unfortunately, the taste is a bit watered down in comparison to the smell. There is a slight chocolate cookie taste but no oreo cream center, although I suppose that can be solved with some milk. A pleasant enough cup just not oreo cookie. Thank you MissB for sending me a sample to try!

Yea, it’s mis-named. I still really enjoy the tea, I just wish it was called something different.

This is awesome with a splash of milk – it cures everything…. :))

drank Velvety Vanilla by Tea Desire

Well my taste buds must be off because I am trying this tea that Roswell Strange so generously shared and I am tasting Tetley’s Orange Pekoe tea. That can’t be right. It even smells like the Tetley tea to me. No vanilla in this cup anywhere. This is really quite strange. Oh well, perhaps I will have better luck in the future. Luckily I have at least one more cup in the sample to try and get this one right. Thank you Roswell Strange for sharing :)

I’m not a huge fan of this one, myself. But I get slightly more of the vanilla when I add in a teeny bit of sugar and milk. I really love Tea Desire’s guest service and I think they do a phenominal job with fruit blends/rooibos/mate – but I haven’t found a single black tea by them that I’d want to keep stocked.

VariaTEA

It is always sort of upsetting when you need to add something to a tea to bring out certain flavors – I shall try some Truvia but at least now I know that this is not really something I would want to order in the future

Roswell Strange

Agreed – the extra stuff like milk or Truvia should be used to enhance an already good tea. If a tea needs something added to be drinkable then it’s not a good tea :/ This is definitely a blend I’m not buying again, though. There are so many better Tea Desire blends (still looking for a good black one, though).

MissB

I’m really loving their White Angel, and a few of their flavored pu-erh’s are also fantastic. I’ve stayed away from their blacks mostly too, although I do have a few. Just okay, so far.

Roswell Strange

Just looked that one up – sounds really interesting. Their green blends have been pretty 50/50 for me. Right now, I keep Chai Apricot and Asia Cocktail stocked – and I have a bunch of unwanted Japanese Cherry Blossoms (really didn’t like that one, even though it smells awesome). I’m debating trying Oreo Cookie finally; I’ve been putting it off because I strongly dislike oreos but my favourite sales lady said she can only taste dates when she has it. I love dates, so maybe I’ll give it a shot…

MissB

Rosewell, I’m pretty sure I have some here and can send it to you.

Roswell Strange

I appreciate the offer, but that’s ok – I’ll just buy it as a Tea to Go from my local store and determine whether I want to buy more based on that. No reason for you to shell out the money for shipping :) It’s pretty convenient for my to get ahold of it.

MissB

Oh, of course! Silly me.

drank Irish Cream Matcha by Red Leaf Tea
5272 tasting notes

This is yet one more from the very generous swap package sent to me by Cavocorax. Unfortunately, this is another matcha that I am not really getting the flavor that I am promised by the name. This is creamy for sure but not so much Irish Cream flavored. It is sweet matcha as opposed to a more vegetal matcha flavor. As much as I enjoy it, it is not irish cream to me. Still quite tasty though so thank you Cavocorax for sharing this with me!

drank Paris by Harney & Sons

Decided to have a cup of this once I decided I wanted to place a Harney order in case I changed my mind and determined I wanted more than the sample I got from Cavocorax. This one is sweet and citrus-y and all around just a nice cup of tea. Though I think this is delicious, I am not so in love with it that I would want to own 4 oz. So it is not being added to the order but I will cherish the sample I have left. Thank you Cavocorax!!

drank Boston by Harney & Sons

So I actually drank this earlier but my internet cut out when I tried to post my tasting note and I guess it got deleted. Anyways, this is yet another from Cavocorax and I am really glad I got to try this one. I don’t think I would have jumped on this tea if I saw it online or in store and I would have missed out. I can’t exactly put my finger on why, but I think this is an amazing cup of tea. No flavor really shines as the star but rather they work together to make the perfect cup of tea pleasant for any day of the year. It is a mild flavor as well so it can be enjoyed at any time or while I am in any mood as opposed to the more decadent dessert type teas I usually reach for. All in all, I am definitely going to be getting some more of this delicious tea. Thank you Cavocorax for sharing with me!

drank Florence by Harney & Sons

Since I decided I really liked SoHo, I decided to give this a try and see if maybe I did not like it initially due to steeping instructions. I dropped the temperature of the water and steeped for 5 minutes. Though the chocolate flavor came out more in this cup, it is still not the nutella tea I was hoping for. Thank you Cavocorax but me and this tea just don’t seem to be compatible.

I understand. I’ve slowly fallen out if love with this one too. :(

It’s still my favourite chocolate tea, but I couldn’t imagine getting a tin of it now.

drank Bubblegum Matcha by Matcha Outlet
5272 tasting notes

Cavocorax shared some of this with me in a swap package. I am super excited to finally try it because (1) it just seems so interesting and (2) it is my first 50/50 matcha. After tasting my first sip, “interesting” really hits the nail on the head because this is definitely reminiscent of bubblegum. Unlike some of the other matchas, the flavor is a bit more subtle but it is definitely there and I think I prefer it that way otherwise it might be bubblegum overload. Would I buy this? No, probably not. Nevertheless, as it is now, this makes for a tasty matcha treat and I doubt I will have any problems getting through the sample I have. Thank you Cavocorax for sharing this with me :)

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
