I have been hoarding what I had of this tea because I feared the sample JustJames sent me would be gone and I would never have this amazing tea again. However, when Stacy said she most likely will be selling this blend I decided that what good was hoarding a tea if I could never enjoy it. So today I am indulging in this decadent masterpiece.

This cup is pure coconutty-banana-caramel-toffee-goodness! The flavors simultaneously shine on their owns and combine perfectly to make a delicious cup. It will be nice when I can actually buy more than just a few cups to enjoy. Until then, I have one cup of dry leaf left and a couple of resteeps to get me by. Thank you JustJames for selflessly sharing this with me – personally I think I might have hoarded it for myself because it is just sooo good.

you know, i have no idea why i can taste stacy’s caramel, lol. only hers. i love my blend…. and we had so much fun building it. i only have enough left for a cup!!!!

VariaTEA

Probably because Stacy is a little bit of a genius or perhaps a wizard. I am not sure but somehow she manages to get almost every flavor spot on.

JustJames

true that! both of them!! lol.

VariaTEA

a genius wizard you say? Does that mean Stacy is actually Hermione?

keychange

Omg HP tea! and I agree that James is unbelievably generous. I would have horded this one, too!

Though I am finding this tea better today than I did when I first tried it, it still is not really for me. The floral flavor and I are just not compatible. It was fun to try but I don’t think it will be missed. Nonetheless, thank you Cavocorax for sending this my way :)

it is an unusual tea to be sure…. it gives me memory cues which is why it works for me.

VariaTEA

Unusual is quite accurate. I have another tea called Candy Rose which is a great combination of candy sweetness and delicate florals but imho this tea also has those two elements but they just don’t mesh together as well. It was still an interesting taste experience though – fun to try something new and unique every now and then regardless of whether I love it or not.

JustJames

i wonder how it would be as a reduction over vanilla ice cream…… hmmm.

VariaTEA

haha you would have to let me know. It has been months since I had ice cream and I have run out of this tea so I don’t think I could try that.

I chose this for today’s matcha because I realized my roommate had picked up plain almond milk. Last time I had this flavor was in Vanilla almond milk and that tasted like a vanilla milkshake so I was curious to see if the vanilla I was tasting was actually from the matcha or if it was from the almond milk base. What I have learned from this experiment is that the vanilla almond milk did provide additional vanilla flavor, plain almond milk also helps to bring out the vanilla taste. I am not sure why that might be the case but this cup is definitely more vanilla than when I mix this matcha with regular milk.

As my tastes are now, I would have NEVER picked this one out for myself. I suppose that is the amazing thing about steepster and swaps because Cavocorax was kind enough to send some of this my way. I put off trying it in favor of the many other flavored teas she had sent but this morning I thought I would finally give it a try. I am SO glad I did because this is great! Its chocolate-y and vanilla and just downright delicious. I definitely won’t have any problems getting through this sample. Thank you Cavocorax for giving me an opportunity to try something I would have never picked for myself. I certainly would have missed out if it had not been for your generosity.

After Tiger Assam and I did not get along, I was worried that I would have issues with this one as well. I am not really sure why I thought that given all teas are different but I did. However, Cavocorax was kind enough to share this with me so I thought it was at least worth a taste. Well, it would seem I was worrying for nothing because this was a rather tasty cup. Given that I did not realize it was an Earl Grey, I was quite shocked to discover the bergamot in my cup but it is there and it is prominent. I don’t know if this is something I would reach for often but it is a nice cup for right now. Thank you Cavocorax for sharing this with me :)

This time around, it is not nearly as tasty as the last cup I had. However, I suppose that is for the best given this tea is no longer in my cupboard. So long Gingerbread, it was fun while it lasted!

Well I decided to make a cup of this tonight as I am trying to work through some teas to get sipdowns and reign in my cupboard. I read my last review and I really liked this. However, I also really liked Forever Nuts once and now I can’t even stand to smell it. Unfortunately, this has gone the same way. Last time I really enjoyed this but I think I have outgrown the nutty, apple herbals because this is just not sitting right. It is weird how you can love some teas one minute and the next, for no explainable reason, no longer like it at all. Also this one has hibiscus and that makes it all the more worse :(

I’m having the same experience with Sugar and Spice! I used to love it so much, and tonight I ahad to pour my cup down the drain. So so weird.

VariaTEA

I saw. It really sucks too. I am having the problem with Forever Nuts and I have like 30-40 g of it and even the smell is off-putting. I think I might try baking it into a banana bread or something cuz in theory that could be tasty.

In keeping with the theme of trying new teas, I pulled this out from the first package MissB sent me and decided to give it a try. This is a very strange cup. It smells strongly of almond. Tastewise, I am trying rooibos, almond, and pepper. I really don’t know if I am a fan or not. Luckily (or perhaps unluckily) Miss B was very generous with the sample she sent and I have a few more cups to work out my feelings on the matter. Thank you MissB!!

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
