187 Tasting Notes
well, now, this is NOT what i was expecting! while i’d usually consider most oolongs i’ve tried to be light, ethereal, floral, this one is none of those things. not that this is a bad thing, mind you. i went ahead and rinsed once, since i was suspicious of the dry leaf smell (which is not light, ethereal, or floral, but instead earthy, sandy, soil-y. but not in the pu-erh soil-y way), so my second and now third steepings of this are quite deep, reddish-brown colored, a beautiful tea really. the flavor is definitely not based in the scent, the way other oolongs are or can be. this one i just what it is. down to earth, honest-to-goodness, tea. no bitterness, this is quite smooth, which just a bit of astringency making it quite nice. not as heavy as a black tea, not as earthy-mushroom-y as a pu-erh, just basic. i quite like it, although i like others quite a bit more, so i’m not sure i’ll replace this once it runs out.
Preparation
this is quite nice, although different. it’s a rather run of the mill oolong (not amazing, but pretty good) with the most unusual aftertaste of ginseng! takes a bit to get used to it, but i bet this will end up being something i crave every now and then. it was a free sample from the company with another order, so i’m going to steep this puppy ‘til it’s dry, so to speak in mixed metaphors, that ginseng kick is really rockin’ this sleepy rainy afternoon!
Mmmm toasty corn goodness! If you are thinking of trying this, know that the corn itself, both before and after steeping, smells terrible. The tisane smells a little better….if you can have patience with those factors, the tea itself will surely delight!
Ok, at least it does me.
Preparation
It is an earl grey creme kinda morning! Freshly opened canister of two guys’ tea. Such a pretty tea! The scent is good, although not as good as it looks, lol! Steeped as directed, this is good. I’m not overwhelmed with the cream-ness, although the bergamot is also on the light side, which means there’s plenty of tea coming through. A nice tea, however there’s a tiny niggling medicinal flavor trying to peek through, so i’d better hurry up and drink this while still piping hot!
