I tried this tea at the Harney booth during Midwest Tea Fest. I was unsure because I usually don’t like green teas, but I’m glad I tried it. It was sweet and thick and buttery and I really liked it.

I’ve tried it both gong fu and westren. 175F leaves are dark green, smells of hay and spring. Short steeps. Taste is sweet, buttery, green. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Lovely aftertaste. Also, spent leaves taste pretty good. I should try to use them in something.

I could happily drink this everyday.. 90

Sipdown. Finished this tea off at work. Taste was mostly lost under the sometimes indifferent brewing conditions available. I’ll let my other rating stand.

Next tea I bring to work should be a black. I’ll keep the oolong at home where I can pay more attention to time and temperature.

Sipdown. Used the last of this tea as a cold brew. I wouldn’t mind replacing this to use for ice tea eventually.

Sipdown. I used the last of this packet on a cold-brew. (Though technically a room temperaure brew. It sat in my water bottle in the car for at least 4 hours.) Probably over-infused at this point, though still pretty drinkable.

Sharp, woody, astringent, with a little bit of cinnamon chaser. This wouldn’t be my choice to cold brew again.
I did bring this tea with me to KC because it wasn’t one I liked much. Therefore if time, temp, and water were weird I wouldn’t be disappointed.

Can’t wait for the Midwest Tea Fest tomorrow!

Sipdown. 4 pearls 8oz. According to the directions I overleafed. I didn’t get much flavor out of these. It was caramel, but not strong. Not what I wanted from this tea. 70

Too bad about the lack of flavour.

Sipdown. Another super-old tea. Still smells good – nutty, baked apple bread. Taste a lot more apple, baked, nutty. I wouldn’t mind replacing this even with the artificial flavor. It’s comforting.

Small leaves, some with silver tips. Straight I find this too astringent to be enjoyable. With milk, the astringent edge is muted. Tea is slightly smoky and kind of green tasting.

I’m not going to rate this because I prefer teas without additives. Mostly this note is for me to remember not to buy Ceylon black teas in the future.

I have that problem with Ceylon tea. Too astringent unless there’s something (i.e. milk) added to the cup. However, I prefer teas where I can enjoy them straight.

I never used to like Ceylons – same reason too astringent. Then I found the ones from Amba estate and the Ceylons from What Cha. Completely different to my tastebuds.

Low grown Ceylons are my favorite. High elevation Ceylons tend to have a high lemon edge or astringency that I don’t enjoy. I dislike Uva Highlands, but Kenilworth Ceylon is very enjoyable to me.

Another work tea that’s gone now. Leaf smelled pretty, lots of blueberries. Tasted like hot water with a little bit of green tea until I got to the bottom of my cup. Then, blech. Oversteeped green tea taste. Wish the smell translated more into the flavor.

Been having this at work for the last who knows how long. It’s really old as well. It has held onto flavor decently – malty though it can get astringent. Sipdown.
Now I’ve got to find a new tea to have at work. No rating as I didn’t pay a lot of attention. Got pulled into a meeting at work…

150ml gaiwan, 5gish,
Dry-light roast, apple
15s- still pretty balled, hint of fruit. 30s- roasted, fruit. 45s- roast/caramel, fruit, sweetness in after taste. 1min- astringency starting.
Caramel seems to be a hard flavor to pick out. I just lose it under the other flavor or it comes off as sweet. The roast level of this didn’t work for me either. Not a tea for me. 70

Bio

I started my tea journey with Stash/Celestial Seasonings tea bags years ago. All loose leaf, unless I’m sick or traveling.

I like black, oolong, white, herbals, and raw/ripe pu’erh. I don’t drink green tea often.

I play video games, read, and do pottery. My current favorite tea mug is one I threw and glazed.

I generally review teas twice – initial and final steeps.

My cupboard is mostly up to date.
