195F, half cake to 150ml gaiwan.
15s- sweet, smooth. 30s- fruity, sweet. 30s- chocolate. 45s- chocolate, fruity. Continued with this for 6 more steeps. I have the other half of my cake, but I’m sad I didn’t order more of this. Just got the one cake to try. 90
Flavors: Chocolate, Fruity, Smooth, Sweet
2.5tsp, 200F, westren.
Dry smell – chocolate, coconut, nutty.
4 min tongue coating, astringent. At 5min it has more flavor. I don’t think this tea is really my thing. I seem to have problems with ceylon based teas. I just don’t like the taste.
I may need to try this again. Add milk?
After trying it, I agree with you both. Astringent edge is gone. I can taste the flavors. Thanks! :)
22Apr- Dry leaf smell cherry, sugar, pastry, vanilla.
2tsp 205F
I got 4 steeps out of this. Flavor notes are all there. The cherry flavor lingers. Nice to try.
Flavors: Cherry, Pastries, Sugar, Vanilla
This note is really about how crazy work was today and how many samples came in. Samples that will impact work tomorrow (today?) and next Tues/Wed. I’ll get it all done, just hope it’s not a herald of how this summer’s going to be.
All I wanted when I got home was to drink tea and relax. Usually when work is very stressful, I want alcohol. I had tea instead. I had several nice sessions.
Tea drank: Wuyi GongFu Black – Verdant, Castalia-August Uncommon, Rou Gui -Mandala Tea, and Indonesia Harendong Pearl Black – What-cha.
Sipdown. I need to bump my rating up a little to 80. Brewing westren, I had a more enjoyable cup. Taste was helped by not trying to do all my What-cha samples at once. Re not overdosing on chocolate and malty teas.
I got 4 steeps out of 2 tsp @1,2,3,and 4 min. Pretty strong cocoa/dark chocolate -ish taste throughout. I’d like to get this tea again for regular mornings. Solid tea, right price (more What-cha samples! ;D).
Flavors: Cocoa, Dark Chocolate
