Backlog: sipdown. Dry smell – wood, burnt stuff. 100ml gaiwan, 180F. I didn’t really have enough leaf so improvising.
Taste – fruity, smooth, no aroma, wood. Wet leaf smells strongly of burnt cherry/fruit wood.

Not a whole lot of anthing from this tea- no real flavor. Compared to regular oolongs it’s meh. Compared to the aged oolong Liquid Proust shared, it’s not even close.

Glad that I only got a sample and that it was on sale. Random – I hate their steeping directions.

Flavors: Burnt, Cherry Wood, Fruity, Smooth, Wood

Backlog: bought this tea at Midwest Tea Fest. I really enjoyed talking with Beautiful Taiwan Tea and the presentation he did.
212F, 100ml dry leaf smells – yeasty, malty, fruity
20s- raisin and prunes, 30s,40s- fruity, prune.

Getting some hints of astringency as I push out the time up near 1min30s. Wonder if I pushed it out too fast? I enjoyed drinking this tea, though my notes are sparse.

Backlog: Transferring this tea to a tin resulted in matcha everywhere. Tea is another one from the happy bag. I’m a little scared of the temperature recommendation, but I gave it a shot. 212F, 2tsp, 10oz
30s toasted rice, savory; 30s-nutty. Odd taste from the black beans.
Interesting tea. I’ll need to try it again for another impression.

Flavors: Beany, Nutty, Toasted Rice

Today’s cold brew. Don’t know if I really tasted it, I drank it so fast. Creamy and yummy. Refilled my container in hopes of repeating the steep.
This tea’s held up well for being pretty old.

Brew 30oz, some amount of leaf

Cold brewed this at least 3 days this week. Flavor comes through well. My favorite part is that it resteeps well (up to 3 times). It doesn’t seem to get over brewed as I was grandpa style brewing it.

Yesterday’s cold brew. Good flavor – orange and jasmine, but it had lots of little bits. The bits kept coming up the straw of the container I was using. It definitely detracted from my enjoyment of the tea, though it was pretty. If I cold brew this again, I’ll need to do it differently.

30 oz, some amount of leaf.

drank White Peony King by Shang Tea

Today’s cold brew. 30oz water, leaf added until it looked good.

Juicy, crisp and thick. Reminds me of clouds and cotton. Flowery at end of sip – probably the peony. Flavor coats mouth for a while after.
Good staying power. I’ve refilled once and leaves still had flavor to give. Leaves are intact, so no little bits up the straw like yesterday. 94

Sipdown. Ashy and sour. I’ve never liked this tea. Only got 2 steeps before I decided it wasn’t worth continuing. It won’t be missed.

Sipdown. Used up the last of this at work. It’s worked well. I’ve nursed it all day getting 4 or 5 steeps. Honey and smooth.

Bio

I started my tea journey with Stash/Celestial Seasonings tea bags years ago. All loose leaf, unless I’m sick or traveling.

I like black, oolong, white, herbals, and raw/ripe pu’erh. I don’t drink green tea often.

I play video games, read, and do pottery. My current favorite tea mug is one I threw and glazed.

I generally review teas twice – initial and final steeps.

My cupboard is mostly up to date.
