I received a sample of this in my last Butiki order. I didn’t like the first couple of sips, but it grew on me as I started tasting flavors beyond the roastiness. It started to taste even a little bit creamy and smooth. I really liked it at that point! Only got glimpses of the base. What I tasted was a pleasant green tea flavor. No fishiness.

There is nothing subtle about this tea! It’s in your face pear and cinnamon. It’s a good thing I like both of those. The pear is nice and natural. We have pear trees in the back yard and I love eating them in the fall, so this evokes harvest memories. The cinnamon is slightly artificial, but not so much so as to be a complete turn off. I added a little brown sugar in hopes of toning down the connamon and making it a little more complex. I think I’ll have to add a pinch more. I don’t taste the base, but being as there is no bitterness or astringency I’m ok with that.

This tea is kind of overwhelmed by a soapy floral cherry and rose petal taste. It’s the first thing I smell and the first thing I taste. I’ve been eating a ton of cherries since yesterday, so the difference in flavor between the real cherries and soapy fragrance is even more apparent than it would have been.

I added a little raw alfalfa honey in after the first few sips and it helps tone down the cherryand brings out the base and papaya. Tastes like a black base although it is supposed to be a blend. Smooth and not bitter or astringent, so that is nice.

Oh so yummy! The base I already know is awesome, but the smooth vanilla and sweet caramel flavor really made my morning. I had two large cups of this.

I donated platelets yesterday and they told me to increase my fluid intake for the next couple of days. You’ll know what that means! :-)

Last tea of my day. I find this tea very soothing because it’s so smooth and naturally sweet. G’night all!

Cavocorax

Mmmm. Can’t wait to try mine!

If you like licorice, you will be pleased! :-)

I enjoyed my sample of this. Definitely gonna add some to my next butiki order!

This has a very nice green tea base- grassy and light. Peach is the primary fruit flavor. The watermelon is very mild and I can’t taste the kiwi. There is a floral smell and taste that I can’t place. No bitter aftertaste and only slight dry mouth feeling. I think the fruit taste might be better if I made this cold.

I love how the sampler came with the teas in metal test tubes. Perfect for making me feel all sicientific right before watching “Fringe”. :-)

The Verdant $5 sampler is really varied and I’m glad I ordered it. The dryleaf of this smells sweetly vegetal. This tea tastes very much like a super-sweet, super-creamy green tea to me. Thankfully, there is no seaweed flavor like I find in a lot of greens.
The first flavor is very buttery, so I can see why come people compare it to caramel, but it’s too vegetal for me to call it that. It sort of tastes like lima beans sauteed in butter! It then turns into a darker flavor (roasted lima beans?), which has a little bit of spice to it almost like cinnamon. What’s great is that there is absolutely no bitter aftertaste and no dry-mouth. I love that about this tea.

Cuckoo for coconut! Creamy, coco-nutty goodness! I honestly don’t taste the white tea in this at all. I really only taste coconut and vanilla. I had it hot. It would probably be good cold as well.

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Second steep was undrinkable though… bitter awful stuff.

Tealizzy

Wow, that is weird that the second steep was awful….like all the flavoring disappeared in the first?

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Exactly like that!

I used the last of my sample of this to brew up a big batch to ice. Unfortunately my sister and I lost a bit of the liquor as we funnelled it into a container. We added a little alfalfa honey to sweeten it.
As I suspected, I like this much better cold and it seemed smoother. The blackberry comes out much better! It was just the slightest bit bitter, but not in a bad way at all. I’m still looking for the perfect blackberry tea.

Tealizzy

Ooh! I was going to try cold-brewing this one! Glad to hear it’s good cold!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

It was quite yummy cold!

I run, I sing, I drink tea. That’s the best description I have of me.

I’ve always enjoyed tea, but have just started trying out a lot more loose teas and varied brands. I’m really excited about a site like steepster so I can read about what people think about different teas.

Oh and I really hate Lipton tea. There’s something just awful about it and I can’t understand why nearly every local diner only has Lipton.

Also I’m on the search for a full-bodied, fruity blackberry tea. So if you have any suggestions feel free to throw them my way! :-)
