With all the green tea matcha, I needed something black to contrast them. This is the first black I saw and it hits the spot. Boosting the rating on this because I’m just appreciating the flavors more than I did the first time I tried. I think I’m going to go through all my reviews and fine-tune ratings now that I’ve tried a whole lot more teas.

More tea from the Momo box! This one wasn’t very satisfying. I don’t taste the oolong base and although there is a faint peach taste, there is some other fruit in there that I can’t identify… dragon fruit? guava? Whatever it is, it tastes artificial, almost like a sour gummy candy, but not as strong or tasty. I’m going to finish the cup, but I really don’t want to. There’s just not much about this tea to want to finish.

Another tea from my Momo box. My whole family loved this! In the words of my grandmother: “This is better than coffee!” lol! I ended up making six almond milk lattes with this matcha because everyone in the family liked the smell of it. I’m glad they enjoyed it because there was something about it that I didn’t like.

The matcha was darker and you could tell it was finer than the matcha I had from Joy’s Teaspoon this morning. At first it didn’t seem to dissolve better than the Izu Matcha (and I had even strained it to make sure there would be no clumps), but then it just seemed to melt into the hot water when I started whisking. Very nice!

The matcha definitely smells of caramel, but there is a popcorn scent too. It reminded me of popcorn jellybeans, which I liked for a little while as a child but now I can’t stand one bit. That’s probably what turned me off of it. The taste was exactly like the smell. I really think I could have enjoyed this if it was just a caramel matcha, but the popcorn jellybean taste really was a miss for me. The smoothness of the powder itself when whisked into the drink however make me sure that I would like to try some other Redleaf matchas in the future, so I’m glad I got to taste it!

I bet a pure popcorn matcha was be really yummy!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

It probably would be!

CHAroma

LOL! And by “was be” I meant “would be.”

Fuzzy_Peachkin

lol! That’s ok… I tend to make mistakes like that when I type things on my phone.

CHAroma

I’m not even on a phone, so I really have no excuse. LOL! Just too lazy to proofread. :P

This was my first time making matcha at home. I used this matcha in some muffins a couple of weeks ago with much success. I mixed up a tablespoon of matcha and some hot water with a small whisk and it frothed up quite nicely. I also whisked up some almond milk to add to it. I made enough for my brother and I to each have a latte. I added a spoonful of alfalfa honey to each.
The matcha was pretty smooth and my brother who has had more matcha then I have thought it was better than even some of the restaurants he has been to, even if it wasn’t the best of the best. I might try sifting it next time round. It had a strong, leafy green tea flavor that reminded me of green tea ice cream. I could definitely get used to these lattes.

Oh, I bet the almond milk was good, I must try that.

Fuzzy_Peachkin

I like it! It’s the next best thing to milk, which I can’t have a lot of because I’m slightly lactose intolerant.

There are a lot of flavors going on in this tea and at first my tastebuds just couldn’t make sense of all them. Rooibos is definitely strong in it. Mint is there, but almost takes a back seat to the lemony flavor that reminds me of a whisky sour. There is a strong creamy aftertaste to it, which is definitely coconut. Try as I might, I don’t taste the black tea. I guess it’s overpowered by everything else.
I think I’ll try this as a cold-steep next to see how the flavors develop cold. My sister certainly loves this one! I’m glad I got an ounce to play with!

Another tea from my Momo box! It has a very nice sencha base that is a little heavier in the mouthfeel than most sencha’s I’ve had. The flavoring is very subtle in a good way. The peach is definitely there along with a hint of citrus. It doesn’t taste artificial at all. There is also a light floral note that I can’t distinguish. I don’t think I have enough experience with florals to identify it.

I LOVE this tea. Even my youngest students like to drink it, without milk or sugar!

I had this last night after opening the package of teas I bought from Momo. I’ve been curious to try some more roobois blends. The base in this reminds me of the base in the blackberry roobois which I have fom Argo teas. It’s earthy, bold, and has the slightly menthol taste I’ve been picking up in quality rooibos blends.
The flavoring in this was ok. It was reminiscent of a creamsicle, but was not quite as smooth or or creamy as I would hope. I knew it would probably be a little artificial tasting, but the strong flavor of the rooibos helped hid a little of that. I’m glad I got to try this, but probably not something I’d buy again.

The name says Autumn, but it tastes like spring greens! It tastes leafy, sweet, and almost floral. When I smell it I swear I smell just the faintest touch of jasmine, but I don’t taste it. As it cools it picks up a little butteriness. Overall it leaves the impression of fresh spring air. Very refreshing.

Had this with dessert at Per Lei. I wonder if my review may be affected by the large glass of bordeaux I had with lunch. At this point I may think everything is “wonderful”!

I didn’t get a strong aroma off this- Slightly fruity and malty. The liquor is reddish brown in color.
The first note I taste is fruity and then the taste darkens into something maltier. As it cools I’m picking up even more malt and even some chocolate tones.

The end of the cup when it really cooled down got a bit bitter. The fruit tones were lost altogether.

Perfect tea for a rainy morning on the express bus. Love this tea because it’s so meaty, not in the sense that it tastes like meat, but because it’s so strong. It just says “Bam! I’m tea! And I’m here to start your morning”.

Honey notes hit me first today- very sweet! And then it got kind of woodsy, earthy, vegetal. Love it.

I run, I sing, I drink tea. That’s the best description I have of me.

I’ve always enjoyed tea, but have just started trying out a lot more loose teas and varied brands. I’m really excited about a site like steepster so I can read about what people think about different teas.

Oh and I really hate Lipton tea. There’s something just awful about it and I can’t understand why nearly every local diner only has Lipton.

Also I’m on the search for a full-bodied, fruity blackberry tea. So if you have any suggestions feel free to throw them my way! :-)
