A blend of wild mints and catnip must smell and taste with mint, obviously.
So yes, it’s a lot of mint, very refreshing and soothing. Nothing less, nothing more.

First of all, I really like the concept and appearance of Genmaicha. It contains beautiful, dark green leaves, small balls of roasted rice and small puffed rice clouds.
Brews into a very aromatic tea, full of base Japanese tea notes, roasted and nutty flavours from rice.
And, as one may expect, the taste is also complex and rich, with characteristics from tea and rice balanced into a really compelling mixture.

I used to really like this tea some time ago, but I haven’t had it for a couple of years.
It has a very strong caramel aroma (obviously), not an artificial one, reminding me a bit of butterscotch candies.
The taste is mellow, caramelly, like melted toffee, with malty undertones in the background.
Very easy-going, warming tea, although I have too much experience now to enjoy it as much as before.

I drink tea almost all the time.

However, my tea drinking can be divided into two main categories.

1. I work a lot at my computer and when I work, I need to always have tea at hand. That’s when I drink bag varieties, mostly black blends, often corporate ones. They need to be at least drinkable, of course, but I don’t focus on the taste much, though I don’t go below a certain level…

2. When I read (and read a lot) or when I’m just relaxing, I savor tea. That’s when the better varieties come into play, that’s when I use leafs instead of bags, that’s when I really focus on what I’m drinking.

I’m Polish, temporarily living in Copenhagen, Denmark.
