Just got back from Christmas with my sister, who is my equally tea loving sister. And, what a surprise, an egg cart with 12 unique teas was my gift from her. Eeep, 12 new teas to add to the cupboard. I am back up to around 70, and all but one of my new teas are things that I have never tried. So its time to work on chipping away the existing teas. I dont want any tea to languish in my cupboard, so I’m working on sipping down some older teas, and some of the meh cups.
Eeee! So much tea. Its wonderful.
A coworker gave me a gift today, a huge mug patterned with tea pots and some vanilla rooibos tea. So I am breaking out the mug to brew a double batch of this. I have such a lot of tea, that, at the moment, I am going to chip away at the sipdownable quantities of tea.
And this is a nice afternoon cup of tea.
How sweet! I love that coworker, she’s my fav. How very kind of her.
I love black tea, but I feel like I need to take a break from it, after a long morning of sipping the stuff down.
This is a nice enough cup, and I always seem to grab it when I have a headache (though no headache today), but when I’m done with it I will quest for a loose leaf milk oolong. It will be a little while if I have this sipped down, though. But I’ll work at it. I have such a lot of Black Friday sale tea coming in my direction that I feel like I should work on sipping down the smaller quanteties, and the stuff thats only ok.
Gah. I like to get my Nanowrimo writing done as early in the day as I can. Admittedly, during the working day, this is after work, but on the weekends, I usually do it in the mornings.
Drat. Today got away from me, so now I’m working on the wordcount for today. Whew.
This cup to help me along. Easy, uncompliated, nourishing.
This tea wasn’t bad. I can’t say anything I didn’t like about it in particular. The only problem I do have with it is that it’s very, very ordinary. It’s like the base taste of a tea without any of the excitement. Which is exactly what it’s suppose to be! Original black tea. Judging it on that and not on flavor blend, I’d say this is a good one. If I’m ever looking for plain black tea I won’t hesitate to look here. But will I brew this tea for breakfast? Probably not – I’ll save that space for a more exciting blend.
Yunnan teas aren’t my favorite blacks, but sometimes I am in the mood for one. I’ve had this one for a while, but I hadn’t logged it and couldn’t remember whether or not I liked it. It’s not bad, but I like Arbor Teas’ Golden Yunnan quite a bit better than this one. This tea has a bit of the mushroom thing going on; not as fruity as some.
Preparation
I’m such a fan! Drinking this you can taste just as much chai as you can green. And then there’s this cinnamon every now and then — very stubble. Again with Republic of Tea, a very light flavor overall. But soo good! I tried this at a friend’s but planning on getting some for myself.
Preparation
The Republic of Tea has good blends, but none are usually my favorite in their category. Except for this one — this is my favorite Earl Grey EVER. It’s remarkably smooth, that’s the first thing I notice, and it’s not overpowering like the other types I’ve tried. Well done Republic of Tea! I’m in love with this one!
Preparation
I’m not the hugest fan of fruit teas, but this one was awesome! It’s a great idea to blend fruit with green, it gets rid of the tart flavor I usually can’t stand.
The first think I notice is that it’s a very light tea, and that if you over brew it it can taste burnt quickly. But this is great to just have as a light tea, I’m a fan overall.
Preparation
I was expecting a tart tea, but this one pleasantly surprised me! It’s actually very smooth and sweet. As with most republic of teas I’ve had, it’s not super strong. But it’s perfect for just a light flavored green tea.
This is probably one of my favorite teas ever to have iced. And it’s green tea too, so that’s nice. I’m not usually a fan of iced green tea, but this one’s great!
Preparation
A very light, sweet, vanillla & chocolate taste. So far my favorite from the Republic of Tea!
I tried this one at a coffee shop, and after that bought it for myself at home. I noticed that the amount of water made all the difference in the way this tea turned out. The coffee shop used probably around 10oz of water, while at home I used around 16oz. It seems to get the full effect out of this tea without a burnt taste, I recommend using less water for a stronger taste. This isn’t one where you can just throw it into a to-go thermos, however, when you spend time on it at home it can be excellent! (I’ve found this is the deal with most Republic of Teas I’ve tried so far).
I thought I would brew this one as it looked like an easy sipdown, but when I opened the bag, I realized I actually had 3 tea bags in it! So, no sipdown today but I get to enjoy this tea two more times!
And I am enjoying it. It’s doesn’t blow my socks off, but it’s nice and green, and I like the cherries. Seems to me it’d be easy to cherry wrong, and make it artificial and gross, but this is quite nice!
Thanks TerriHarpLady! for letting me try this!
I like that this was Memoirs of a Geisha tea as well – I enjoyed the book and the movie!
this is certainly a blackberry tea. it’s tea first but definitely still blackberries.
I know moraiwe likes this tea iced, and MAYBE i’ll try that, but i’m not really an iced person.
i will say that i drank this tea yesterday and today both and it went down easily, and the scent lingered for a noticable while, and i liked it, but still found it hard to write about i guess.
thanks for the sample!

The egg cart is a cute idea!
