Today started off bad. Things just weren’t clicking and every indication pointed to a bad, bad day. And bad days don’t do well with happy, fruity teas for me. So I pulled this one out as a better fit for my mood.
The morning continued to suck. Then my tea cooled enough to drink. Because of the smell, I expect a flat taste that sort of kicks me in the teeth. But it doesn’t. Yes, it’s strong and really stands up to milk. But it has a really great depth of flavor that sort of plays around in my mouth as I drink it. A definite improvement to the day.
And then I saw this and the day got even better. http://tinyurl.com/lobstercar
After a horrible night’s sleep, I needed something to really wake me up. I figured this might do it. I brewed it for 4mins and added some milk and sugar. It certainly did the job of waking me up so definite plus. On my first sip, I thought the taste was just okay, but after that, I started to (oddly) get hints of cinnamon or some sort of spice. Good stuff.
When I started drinking tea I was quickly cursing myself for all of the coffee “wake-ups” I put myself through. It’s the difference between a gentle caress and being simultaneously shaken and prodded with a pointy stick, you know? So much more comforting. And without the plummeting energy level.
This tea sounds lovely. I’m all about cinnamon-y flavors now that fall is arriving.
I fully get that. Tea gives me a quicker ramp up to wakefulness whereas coffee always slingshotted me into it, complete with crash landing.
Honestly, I’m not sure if the tea is SUPPOSED to taste of cinnamon. But when I mentioned it, hubby agreed so if I am insane, at least the insanity is contagious.
My last herbal and last bagged tea for the day. Although I think I may make myself some ginger water and chill it to have w/ my dinner. Hearing about light tea bags really has me doubting bagged teas even more. This one ways 1.43g. It is very light by weight, but not in flavor so I’m not sure I’d want it much lighter unless I steeped it for only 5 min (it suggests 5-7).
Preparation
I wanted to see what chocolate and rose taste like so I steeped the only chocolate tea I had, Adagio’s Chocolate Chai, as directed (it’s a 2nd infusion so 6 min in boiling water) except I used 2.25 g of tea and 6 oz of water instead of 8 then used that to steep the tea bag (2nd infusion also) for 8 min. The 1st infusion of the chai was used in a dirty chai so the little coffee that remained gave it a little depth and the rose from the Get Relaxed gave a flirty undertone that was slightly floral but no where near perfumey- I LOVE IT!
Preparation
You won’t believe this… but I wanted to see what chocolate and rose taste like and since I didn’t have any chocolate tea, I sweetened it w/ 1 teaspoon of pampered chef brand sweet mocha hazelnut sprinkles. If you don’t have them, mocha splenda for coffee would work wonderfully. The flavor in itself was very good, but the texture was a lil off. It felt like hot cocoa made with water. If you don’t mind that, you’ll love this. I think I’m gonna steep it in 3oz water and 3oz milk to get rid of that texture next time. I also want to try steeping it in Adagio’s Chocolate Chai.
Preparation
I got this tea as a birthday present as I normally do not by bagged tea or herbal/rooibos tisanes, but I was quite amazed at not only the taste but the longevity of the tea leaves.
The first thing you smell when you open the canister is rose. It’s so strong you can taste it.
It says to steep one tea bag in a “cup” of boiling purified water, but to me a cup of tea is 6 oz so that’s the measurement I used. I steeped it for 7 min.
I was kinda nervous about this tea because I hate chamomile, but was pleasantly surprised that the smooth rooibos blended very nice w/ the lavender and the rose so I didn’t even notice the chamomile. Rose was the primary flavor just as it was the primary sent, but it was cut very gently by the rooibos so it didn’t taste like I was drinking my grandmother’s perfume.
If you are like me and don’t drink herbals or rooibos, I’d encourage you to still buy this but rather than steeping it water, steep it in your favorite green or white tea.
I was also surprised that it did have a relaxing effect. I know chamomile does calm the stomach, but when I drink this I do feel some of the stress leave my body.
But most surprising of all was it’s ability to stand up to reinfusion. I got 3 great infusions by increasing the infusion time by 1 min for each cup. I probably could have even gotten a fourth.

That was my day yesterday. Sucky day full of suck and suckiness. Here’s hoping today goes well for both of us.
Hee. Lobster Car.
