Steeped Tea

Another review of this one. I haven’t changed my mind or anything, but I brought a bunch of fruity teas to work to get myself into the summer mode and today it actually looks like summer is coming! WORST. WINTER. EVER. This is one of the ones I grabbed too.

Apples are usually thought of in the fall and wintertime. You get your apple pies with cinnamon ice cream, apple turnovers with whipped cream, and apple cider with cinnamon sticks… But honestly, why not during the summer too? There are some amazing things you can add apples to and it just makes it awesome… Fruit trays, snacks, all sorts of yummy things…

Anyways, I’m going to really enjoy this one today. It’s almost inhaled already and I’m already trying to decide if I want to do another cup of this or go to something else fruity… oh the possibilities.

This tea has definitely surprised me. For the last several years I’ve been looking for a really nice apple tea… Something warm and comforting. Something that makes me thing of fall and the leaves falling and the magnitude of fall colours. Well, this tea hits it right on the head!! It is absolutely delicious! I was hoping Davidstea’s Mom’s Apple Pie would have been that tea for me, but it really didn’t give me that warmth from a tea that I really wanted.

This tea does it. It’s probably the black tea base. I definitely prefer it to the green tea. I don’t think I’m much for green teas after all. But that’s okay. I know I’ll still finish up the Mom’s Apple Pie. Can’t let a good tea go to waste right?!

OMG. This tea is amazing!

I had brought home a sample of it from a Steeped Tea party, along with two others… well, I didn’t try them right away, so when I finally did, I didn’t know which was which ‘cause I didn’t label them…
Either way, I steeped up what I know realize was this one and had it at work a few weeks back. Again… OMG! I knew I needed to get this one.

So, I placed an order at my most recent steeped tea party that I was invited to and got 100g of this one. No point in only 50g. It’s only a few more dollars for a MASSIVE bag. I was hoping and praying that this was in fact the one that I had tried and fallen in love with. And, I was was right!!
Yaay me!!

It has a lovely light white tea base that is just fantastic. It’s not heavy at all, so the caramel/toffee flavours get to really shine through. And they really do. It’s a nice smooth flavour, not a like POW in your FACE toffee either, which is good.
It’s just all around a nice smooth, toffee tea with just the right amount of flavour and not sweet like you might expect some toffee teas to be.

This will be a fantastic refreshing tea. I’m SO glad I got a lot of it!

Last weekend, I threw a Steeped Tea party! A representative from the company comes to your house and has a few different teas (picked by the hostess) to sample, and practically the whole loose leaf tea product line to smell. We had a great afternoon with my family and friends, sitting around the table, chatting, sipping tea and eating pastries. We also had a couple of food items made from Steeped Tea products – a caramel apple cheese ball and a fiesta rooibos dip. They were huge hits!

This particular tea I received as part of my order in the Christmas Collection, which contains 6 different holiday themed teas. Brewed as per instructions, steeping for 5 minutes in 98 degree water. Before brewing, the caramel was the main thing I was smelling in this package. But now that it’s steeping, the chocolate is really coming to the forefront. It’s shimmery across the top – fancy! One of the great things about rooibos tea is that it already has a bit of natural sweetness to it, so I was worried that this may end up being over the top, but it was not the case. Hints of the ingredients peek through and make this a thoroughly enjoyable drink. And because it’s a rooibos, that means no caffeine and it makes a great dessert tea! This is perfect for curbing those sweet-tooth cravings after dinner. I added some milk and it really brought this tea to another level. Made it a little richer tasting and really brings out the delicious flavours. Definitely something I would recommend to get for anyone who needs that something scrumptious late at night.

I’m just about done this one. I have enough for one 8-oz cup, which means it’ll probably be mixed with something else to make enough for either a 12 or 16 oz cup. So,… that being said, I guess I should consider this a SIPDOWN!

I really enjoyed this tea. It’s a very nice mild black tea that isn’t in your face. I found it to be very much like an orange pekoe and I was totally fine with that. I’d absolutely buy this one again, without a second thought. I’d definitely get the 100g bag tho, as 50g didn’t last me too long.

It holds up really well to a second steeping too. I bet it would even do a third steeping if I tried.

I was a bit surprised by this one this morning. I was expecting it to taste like the Kenyan Tiberet (sp?) from Davidstea because the leaf looks almost the exact same, but it doesn’t taste like that. It’s quite a bit milder.
My second cup definitely tasted more like an orange pekoe tea to me. I think if I were to have this again and not expect it to be like the Kenyan one, I’d be better off. I’ll have to try it again before a full review.

A very girly sipdown
Excuse me while I put on my minolos and sit for dinner with my 3 best friends sex and the city styles. Although there isn’t any cranberry taste to it.

At first sniff: this tea smells of apple anf citrus. It smells very fruity. The tea is pretty to look at with the blue corn flower petals and hibiscus. I like it.

At first taste. I brewed this hot and then iced it. Haven’t had it warm because I seem to have an aversion to fruit teas and how they taste hot. When it’s cold its refreshing and tart. There’s a bit of a final after taste. Kind of like diluted apple juice. I like it overall though but probably won’t buy it again. It’s on the expense side and lacking oomph.

Won this as a prize at a vendor booth. I was sent this one and another one as part of their teazer pack. It’s alright. Pretty identical to creme caramel from Davids. I have another 30g left but it’s a bit expensive for what it js. There are other higher quality rooibuses I’d rather buy.

At first sniff: not artificial smelling sweet sugar smell. But sweet smelling.
At first steep: its typical rooibus colour and it doesn’t have that licorice smell and taste that some of Davids have so I appreciatethat.

IIt’s alright. That is all. I feel kind of been there done that with it. It more gave me an excuse to go enjoy a walk with mu doggie. Saddened by the news today about a dog being stabbed to death I was happy to get a nice walk in with my bff.

I’ve had this one twice now, both times was iced. I really love this one. It’s the best iced tea I have ever tried. No lie. I don’t usually like iced teas, but this one is to die for!

It is a nice strong fruit punch-like flavour. I’m totally in love with this one. I got a 50g bag, but I probably should have gotten more. Maybe the next party I go to I’ll get more.
The only thing I would do differently is I wouldn’t put as much sweetener in it. This past time was a bit sweet, but still delicious. I’ll be looking forward to enjoying this one a lot.

Just a quick tasting note about this one as it’s a sipdown. This one as good as it is, doesn’t seem to hold up well over time. This one is about 1.5 years old as I couldn’t drink it when I was pregnant. Anyways, I love this tea, but it didn’t stand up that well. The eggnog flavour really disappeared from it. So, the little I had left went out.
I will absolutely buy this one again this winter though and enjoy it a lot. I’m sure I’ll drink it fast too as it’s so good.

So, I wanted to try this one again and compare it to the Davidstea one. I still prefer this one. This one is much nicer. It’s more true to the taste of Egg Nog, whereas the Davidstea one wasn’t to me.
Either way, I love this tea. I still have like a whole Davidstea tin full of this one so I’ll be enjoying this one a lot in the near future.

WOW! This tea is AMAZING!

I’m a huge eggnog fan. I always have been, ever since I was a kid. We’d get a carton or two at Christmas and as a fan we’d polish them off in no time.
Now that I’m married, I’m the only one that drinks it! Most of the time I can’t finish a whole carton on my own before it goes bad, which is really too bad… :(

So, when I went to a steeped party and heard about this one, I knew I needed to try it! The tea consultant brought it along with her and I got to try it. SO good! I ended up getting 100g of this one ’cause I loved it soo much!

Today, I’m having it with some milk and sugar and it’s really bring out the creaminess of the tea, plus it’s really bringing out the eggnog flavour. Absolutely awesome.
This tea is interesting too ‘cause it only says to steep for 2 mins first steep, which seems really short to me, but it’s absolutely perfect. I can’t imagine letting it steep any longer than that ’cause I think it would make it bitter and would make the tea too overwhelming for sure.

My second steeping of this tea isn’t quite as nice though. I definitely added more milk than I had originally planned on. I’m finding the second steep really doesn’t have much flavour tho. The eggnog flavour is pretty much gone. I don’t know if it’s over doing it with milk or just too short of a second steep… I’m disappointed with the second steeping, but maybe that’s just human error. haha

I will really enjoy this tea though. I’m looking forward to drinking through this one.

I am using up what I have left of this one to make a pitcher of iced tea. Apparently I had 7-8 perfect spoons left, so I felt this would be an easy way to use it up.

Will update once it’s cool enough to drink.

Bought last summer but not reviewed yet… I seriously need to reign in the spending and drink up! It’s teas like these that I’ve bought but not drank yet that remind me it’s time to get cracking!

Anyways, having this one hot. It’s not too bad! I’m very surprised considering I don’t like hibiscus and yet it’s the first ingredient. It’s a touch tart, but not overly. And it has the apple and other fruits in there coming through. I didn’t use boiling water so that might make a difference, but if not, than this tea is pretty good. I think I would make this up into an iced tea for tomorrow maybe. I’m just so thrown and surprised by this one!

Backlog from earlier:
I was considering if I should just toss this or offer for a swap because I wasn’t drinking it, and was apprehensive about it. I decided not to though bc I’ve got so many swaps going at the moment, I wasn’t ready to do another. And I’d feel bad dumping it.

Turns out it’s not as bad as I remember, but it’s still not mind-blowing. A touch of milk mellows it out and makes the licorice not quite so overpowering. I’ve probably got 1oz of this left, but that shouldn’t take too long to drink up as I over-leaf it and under-steep it a bit – for best result?

I chose this with my GC for Steeped Tea that my Aunt and Uncle gave me for my birthday. It’s strong. Really, really strong.

I’m actually not a big fan of it on its own because each sip is just PURE licorice, just rich and dark. I have to sip it slow. (Much like eating those pure black licorice candies – the ones that barely have sugar in it?)

OTOH, if you add a splash of milk to it it becomes quite enjoyable! So, while I probably wouldn’t re-stock it, I’ll drink this up with no hard feelings.

(And the gift was really great – it’s my fault I didn’t like the teas “I” picked)

Okay, another note about this one.

I have realized that I won’t be getting this one again. I don’t care for it. I will finish it for sure, but I don’t think I’d ever get it again. THis one has hibiscus in it, which if the magazines they gave out would actually list all their ingredients in their teas, I would have known and wouldn’t have gotten this one. It’s an almost ridiculously sweet to me. Yesterday I didn’t even finish it. I’ll be mixing this one with a plain black tea to help me finish it. I have a few plain black teas that I love on their own, but I may have to use to mix. It’s really a shame that they couldn’t have done something a bit softer and mellower. They should have skipped the hibiscus. Then I think the tea would have been a nice strawberry creamy tea.

Again, tried a couple of times at work to write this review, but the work pc is so old that Steepster won’t load properly to let me write a note. It’ll let me read though thankfully.

Anyway, so I had this one the other day, and normally I wouldn’t write a review on the first tasting of something, but I felt I needed to write something this time.

I found this one to be quite sweet. Now, in all fairness, I did add a touch of sweetener thinking it wasn’t going to be sweet, but it was. Next time I’ll just add milk for the creaminess that I like with black teas, but no sweetener.

The other thing that I was thinking that was odd about this tea is the steeping time they recommend for this one. It says to steep for 3-7 mins. I did it for 4.5mins I believe it was and it was on the bitter side. I need to make sure that I steep for only 3 mins and see where we’re at.

This tea has a vanilla/coconut flavor with a hint of pineapple in the background. One sip and you just want more! I think it’s one that will taste just as lovely Iced as it did hot so I’ll have to give that a try.

Hmmmm… this was an interesting experiment, and it was free tea from my aunt for my birthday, but there’s just something… off about this one. Something odd and awful at the end of each sip.

Time for something else I think.

This was a birthday gift – my Aunt let me choose 3 teas from Steeped Tea, and so I had fun with that. I love lime, so this was an obvious choice.

The instructions say to steep this at 2-3 minutes in BOILING water. I think that qualifies as green tea abuse, doesn’t it? I ignored it and steeped it in cooler water, but it worries me that “professional” tea experts go to people’s houses and convince them that boiled green tea is correct. #sigh. It’s not up to me to solve all the problems. :P

Anyway, this is light and refreshing, but obviously artificial. It actually makes me think of a slightly creamy lime kool-aid. I think Lime Chiffon would be my preferred lime, but I actually don’t mind this too much, so long as I know I’m getting a fake lime taste.

I bet it would be quite good iced!

This is so tasty. I’m finding lime in tea to be quite enjoyable. I’m really only getting a slight creaminess I can attribute to the coconut, if anything. Perhaps the second steep will bring out more of the coconut, but for now I’ll happily enjoy the lime.
