Today was an incredibly busy day. I was hoping that after a super busy week, I would get to unwind a little at work with some Green Tea Tropical. I was wrong.
So to make up for it, I brewed up a pot when I got home today. It is very good and relaxing. The dried leaves smell sweet and fruity. The brewed tea is a green that is evenly blended with the sweet fruit flavors, neither over-powers the other making for a delightfully fresh cup of green tea.
Brewed hot, no sugar.
Preparation
I went away for the weekend, and all I could find in the way of tea with Mighty Leaf, I tried this one, and it was fantastic. Slight tropical flavor adds to the wonderful green tea. I added Sugar in the Raw to sweeten. Was able to re-steep one bag two times, don’t know how well it would go beyond that.
Preparation
I’m trying this for the first time. It came in a sampler pack I purchased last weekend. I’m not a fan of chamomile so this will be difficult for me. Prior to steeping it smells like cough medicine. During and After Steeping it smells like a Medicinal Tea. I can’t taste the citrus at all. I can taste the Chamomile and it’s not as gross as I usually think Chamomiles are. I am going to increase my rating only because I don’t like Chamomile…and I am giving this a whirl. At first I didn’t like it at all but I tried it – another sip and another sip and as my sips progressed I found an acquired taste for it. It’s better than some Chamomile based teas I have tried but it’s not as good as Foxtrot from Adagio…then again – that’s in a world of it’s own…at least IMO.
My green tea of the day. One tea bag steeped twice= two yummy cups. I suppose today I’m logging almost every cup I drink! I’m starting back to work tomorrow after three lucky years off with my kids and I guess I’m a little nervous. Nothing like drinking and logging teas all day for the distraction!
Got another one of these tea bags in a sample from a gift my sister sent me. Tastes richer than I remember. I’m currently waiting on an order I placed with Mighty Leaf that has a green tea assortment box. Can’t wait to try other types. Apparently my order is slowly crawling across the country from California to South Carolina. S-L-O-W UPS Ground service! Ugh!
I’ve had a similar problem with Mighty Leaf – their shipping times and delivery are slowww. Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by Adagio.
2nd tasting note after my rave reviews last time. Hmmmm, now that I finally have a chance to try this again, it is not exactly how I remember! I’m getting heavy flavor from hibiscus that I didn’t pick up on before- perhaps b/c I didn’t know what I was tasting? I think steepster is wearing off on me. Still a good cup, just not the “end all be all” that I remember.
This is going to be long. I can’t help but be grateful for finding a place such as Steepster for allowing me to record my falling in love with this tea. I’ve only had ONE CUP and I know I’m in love for life. Hubby had convention and they served up Mighty Leaf so brought me back Chamomile Citrus tea bag packet and some other Mighty Leaf flavors. This was my first choice to try. I had no idea what was going to happen as I opened the package. I was expecting regular tea bags like Bigelow and Celestial Seasonings, but what came out was a beautiful, silky tea bag filled with beautiful herbs that were whole and lovely. It was love at first sight. I couldn’t believe it. Not only did it look pretty, but it smelled heavenly! When I finally got around to making this tea (after showing my newly discovered tea bag to the hubby and son) I was swept off my feet. Everything about this tea is wonderful, from the smell, to the lovely color of the tea, and of course, the smooth taste. If you must know how serious this is, I refused to throw the tea bag away until the next morning so I could sniff it- I know, I’m crazy. It’s ok to think it… ****edited to add the disclaimer that despite my professed love for this tea, I am hesitant to create such an expensive tea drinking habit! The box at Publix is $8 for a box with 15 bags!! Yikes!
I too share your thoughts on keeping the tea affordable. I have spent hundreds of dollars on loose tea only to decide that the lowly tea bag is a more consistent cup of tea. The smell you describe with this tea is how I feel about the smell of the vanilla chai from Bigelow. I set the bag next to my easy chair and the smell is intoxicating. I will have to look for mighty leaf teas.
I just got a variety pack from them and really having fun with it. You know, first impressions are strong, but now that I have the variety pack from Mighty Leaf I can’t help but compare everything to Bigelow, one of my favorite bag teas. I think ML is a nice treat, but Bigelow will always be my everyday tea. Funny you should mention Vanilla Chai- it’s high on my shopping list b/c I’ve heard so many good things about it!
Definitely…interesting.
Unfortunately I’m drinking the bagged version, not loose leaf. And I’m thinking that is playing a big factor in the experience. I get a distinct, artificial aroma and flavor from this one. I’m thinking it’s coming from the plastic the tea bag was individually wrapped in, but I can’t be sure.
I’m not really getting any of the jasmine, just a hint of sweetness followed by the classic green vegetal flavor. I’m getting a ting of bitterness, but I think that’s just my feeling towards greens and the fact that my water might have been a little on the hot side. Even with the whole “artificial” aspect of the tea, it’s still somewhat pleasing. I think in some weird way it reminds me of my grandparents or something (try to take that in the least weird way possible). It just kinda makes me think of their house, which, is not necessarily a flavor I want everyday but a nice reminder every now and then.
Preparation
I have the loose leaf, and I think it tastes very good! There are jasmine petals in there. Its a pretty flavor and fairly strong as well. I’d recommend the loose leaf :)
I’m shocked I am the first to log this as I am somewhat new to Might Leaf but – here goes! This smells great. It brews FAST…I was a little worried it was going to be too rooibossy but it’s quite nice. I don’t think of the tropics when I drink it but it’s still pleasant. It’s a bit floral to taste but I wouldn’t have thought about the floral taste if I didn’t read the description first. I’m drinking this hot but think it would be better iced. Still good for a bagged rooibos that isn’t too rooibossy.
Actually you really aren’t the first one to log this tea. Everyone else just wrote it as ‘African Nectar’ instead of ‘Organic African Nectar’. XD
