Adding a little sweetener (agave nectar) and milk make this tea amazingly delicious. See my full review: http://mandybee.wordpress.com/2009/04/25/coco-chai-rooibos-from-mighty-leaf-is-delicious/
This would definitely never be a go-to tea for me but it’s pretty good. I like the addition of the cinnamon with the berries and lemon flavors. I think I would like this better during the winter when I’m looking for something warm with a little tartness as I enjoy the flavors better when the tea is hot. When the tea is cool or iced, the berry flavors are a little overwhelming.
Rooibos Renewal is a nice, fresh-tasting tea but it uses orange as a main flavor and it just doesn’t work for me. It smells really good, orangey and a little flowery with that familiar smell of rooibos. The large pieces of orange peel add a lot of citrus flavor to this tea and it’s slightly mellowed by the flower petals (rose and blue mallow). The second steeping isn’t quite as strong as the first and I find it a bit easier to drink but this isn’t a tea that I’ll be looking for next time I go tea-shopping.
I’ve had two cups of this tea on this lovely Saturday morning and I have to say… not feeling the rejuvenation I was looking for. I think others may enjoy this tea more than I do. It’s not necessary bad, just not my cup.
Tried it iced this time instead. I think I overstepped it, so it came out bitter. Not really feeling this, which is strange because I like sweet earl greys which are citrusy and flowery and perfumy as well…
Taking a 1-2 day break from tea, because my caffeine levels have been through the roof and I’ve been sleeping at odd hours. Not sure if I have any tasty herbal teas…tasty being the key word.
Make sure if you find any tasty herbals you log it! I’m always on the look out for those since caffeine after 5 keeps me up way later than I need to be. And even though I know that, I somehow never stop the tea drinking after dinner…
Jennlea, I just picked up a jar of tea from Aveda this afternoon that is phenomenal. If you like tea that is sweet, then you might like it!

2nd infusion: no sweetener added. Liquor is just about as dark as the first cup, and smells less sweet—good, because I’m still recovering from that last cup.Waiting, waiting waiting for it to cool down…
Ah! Here’s that orange dreamsicle. It does smell like one. For some reason, I can almost smell something hot chocolately…maybe it’s just the sweetness from the jasmine.
Taste is lacking. Or maybe I’m just used to the over-sweet, too-strong, gag-worthy last cup I made. Adding a dash of Splenda…better. The tea still has that thick mouthfeel. It’s very smooth, although I’m not sure I like it. Literally no astringency or bitterness, which is impressive for a black tea, I suppose. I’m still reminded of a tin of Earl Grey Le Creme by Portsmouth that I lost somewhere, except I’m pretty sure I prefer that over this.
I don’t mind Orange Dulce, but I’m still not entirely sure why people go crazy over it. I’ve tried it a few times now and every time I hope that it will finally start to live up to the hype. It never does.
Headache city, right now. I don’t mind perfumy teas, normally. But right now my apartment is a mess, my cat is hiding under my futon which I’m scared might break at any moment, and this tea is just making my head feel worse. I probably shouldn’t have chosen this tea for the moment…I have an aversion to vanilla (but not cream, strangely) so I have no idea why I picked this out.
I can taste jasmine, followed by vanilla, followed by orange. I added too much Splenda, and it is just too, too sweet.
This tea almost reminds me of a very perfumy Earl Grey with cream, but without any of the characteristic lightness. The liquor is heavy, almost syrupy. It’s hard to swallow. On the plus side, it’s quite smooth. I can’t detect any bitterness or sharpness.
I’m not getting orange creamsicle from this, but that’s okay. I’m sure this would taste good under other circumstances, but at the moment it’s just not working for me. I will have to review this again when I’m in a better mood. Hence, no rating.
I grabbed this tea during a breakfast with my buddies at Corner Bakery and was blown away by how much it grew on me in just a short 16oz cup. The vanilla evens out what would have been an overbearing citrus flavor, while complementing the sweet with a hint of jasmine. The aroma, while a little too sweet in the beginning grows on you. Perfect for a late morning tea to push you through to lunch.
Preparation
This was another tea in my sampler tin from Nordstrom’s. The jasmine scent is strong when you open the foil, but it doesn’t overpower the taste. The scent while brewing becomes blended with a slight woodsy note, although it’s green tea with it. The liquor is a pale orange, almost gold, and the taste is okay. It definitely would benefit from some honey, as the jasmine adds no sweetness at all. Not too astringent. This is a good tea to relax with and I like the silk mesh bags the company uses.
Preparation
I made a second steep of this after having had a pot of it earlier today, and I stuck it in the fridge. It’s chilled now, and it’s just right!
Preparation
It certainly helped with the almost cloying vanilla sweetness. I didn’t even sweeten it before putting it in the fridge. (I didn’t dare!)
Most of the tea blends I’ve had from Mighty Leaf seem to feature a lot of vanilla. Which is fine if vanilla is what I’m in the mood for.
I found a swap package from Bethany in my letterbox yesterday when I came home from work. I’ve spent the time since at war with myself over which one to try first. Eventually I resorted to Ippy-Dippy and landed on this.
Quite fitting actually since I was wanting something orange-y recently and didn’t really have any.
I forgot to take a look at the dry leaves before brewing, so you’ll have to do with out. After steeping, though, they smell sweetly floral. Like jasmine and just a touch of sweetness from the orange. The tea itself smells pretty much the same way, just stronger and sweeter. It kind of reminds me of orange chocolate. It’s got a nice clear and deep amber colour in the cup.
The taste is like sweet oranges. Almost orange juice-y but with the floral notes of the jasmine just underneath. I like how the jasmine is understated in this one. I’m still holding on to that orange chocolate impression too. I swear I haven’t added any sweetening agent to the cup, but it tastes like there’s something there. Don’t know what it is, but it’s not sugar. I’m leaning sort of towards almonds, which I actually think would fit an orange quite nicely.
If I taste really carefully I can pick up the tea itself underneath too. Sort of nutty and with that special sort of flavour that puts me in mind of an oolong. I like this, but I made a large pot and I’m not entirely certain I’ll like the last cup as much as I liked the first one.
And the best of it all, guess what! I just discovered that Mighty Leaf has a swedish website too that ships to ALL of Scandinavia! I expect it’s probably somewhat smaller than the american site, like the two sites that Adagio has, one for America and one for Europe, but still. For the freaking win! WOOT! I shall decipher the swedish and have a closer look at that later.
ETA: I’ve realised what the sweet stuff in it is. It’s vanilla. And lots of it too. I think I could have lived without the vanilla. At least in this quantity.
I had a very similar to reaction to this tea – I was really surprised by how sweet it was, and I couldn’t shake that orange chocolate taste, along with that touch of jasmine. The sweetness was a bit overpowering, but I liked this overall.
It’s helped now that I’ve realised where the sweetness is coming from. It struck me when I read ML’s description of it and they mentioned the vanilla. I’ve saved the bag for a resteep which I’m planning on chilling. I think that would work really well because it’s so sweet and fruity.
Just the name Orange Jasmine is enough to make me want some of this. And judging from your review it’s definitely worth a try. I hope I can find it as a single tea bag at the on campus grocery!
I’m gonna have to side with @TeaEqualsBliss & others on this one. While I’m not a huge fan of Chamomile I feel the flavor of this tea is lacking that where they come off as calling it “Citrus” I’m not sure. The aroma has a hint of medicinal to it, which always inhibits me from fully enjoying the tea. Sorry Mighty Leaf… maybe another try later. :-/
