Mighty Leaf Tea

Yuck! I can’t believe it, a Mighty Leaf I don’t like. Had to dump this one!

Finished this up today. Thankfully it was better this time around. So…I will up the rating. Don’t think I would buy but was an OK tea.

A neat reddish brown color with little scent. It’s a Medium strength black tea – pretty even steven – not bad

A nice basic Earl Grey, but not quite as smooth as some of the more high-end varieties out there. Astringent (which is OK for some Earl drinkers), and satisfying, but not impressive.

And it’s gone!! Even though this was a bagged tea, it was still good and I’m adding it to the shopping list. It’s nice to have at least a few things that I like available at the local grocery store.

I’m already tired, and I think this tea is making me sleepy.

Chamomile is really good with lemon flavors! Who knew? The lemon grass and the lemon myrtle really come through in this, and give it a nice bright flavor.

Nice tea to start the morning. Should probably add some honey…

got this as a sample with my ML order. i have to say it is nothing special and it is that rich black tea taste that i enjoy. this too is a no nonsense black tea. i can see this becoming a staple in my cabinet for those lazy days when a bag is preferable seeing as school does start next week and i have a 40min drive to school! tea in a snap is preferable on the days i think im running late lol.

If you like Chamomile tea and am a fan of citrus-ey fruits, especially oranges I’d say give this tea a shot. It’s a calming tea (for me at least) and I tend to enjoy a cup just before bed. Maybe pick up a sampler from Mightly Leaf before investing in a tin.

I don’t know what to say about this tea other than that I liked it just fine. I didn’t make it myself. I simply tried it at a tea and coffee shop, so the best brewing and steeping times are still unknown to me. Anyway, I will be purchasing this tea soon and I plan to give it a more thorough evaluation then.

Smells earthy and tastes rich, if that’s possible for a green tea. Not light tasting in my opinion. Not sure if I’d buy a box, but it is good for plain green tea.

my first mighty leaf tea! the packages are nice because there see-through :) i dont know y i like see-through things so much but that makes it more exciting for me. the little bags are cute too because you can see that they are sewn together. i have to admit i bought might leaf because Rabbysmom made them all look so good so i had to try it. i mean its loose leaf but bagged which means i can be lazy lol

this has a soft delicate flavor that i can pick out as the white tea (which i have noticed i have become VERY fond of) its a soft and relaxing tea mmmmm it has a fruitiness to it that i expected to be more melon-y but its more pear/apple-y the color is a very pretty yellow. there is nothing strong about this tea :)

im glad i picked this out because we are having a shrimp teriyaki stir fry and this will balance out with the bold flavors.

More thoughts on the tea I logged late yesterday afternoon…couldn’t stop thinking about this tea!! Love love love this. I should have eaten before I had it b/c I wasn’t hungry at all for dinner. Guess that would be good if I were on a diet! I will purchase a box of this as soon as I’m able too. I love the clarity that I felt after drinking it. Also seemed to be a mood elevator. I promise, I drank it and didn’t smoke it;)

Smells like Green Tea Tropical, tastes ooogles better from any mate I’ve tried. Usually I get such a “coffee like” flavor from mate, but that is not the case here. I like it!

Tried this again and it still doesn’t grab me like I want it to.

Not quite sure about this yet. Wasn’t bad but I didn’t taste much vanilla, sadly.

I was disappointed here. Mighty Leaf can make excellent teas. This one simply seemed to lack any flavor—it was a bit like steeping saw dust. I really prefer bold flavor, so perhaps I’ve missed something here.

Mighty Leaf Green Mango Decaf + Adagio Gunpowder = A Marriage Made in Heaven!

I’m nothing if not a man of science and adventure. I’ll try anything…twice. As much as I love my dirt cheap Adagio Gunpowder, I’ve been pondering ways to shave off a little of the vegetal edge it presents (even though I like it) and soften it with a flavor of some sort. But what to blend it with???

The outstanding feature of the Gunpowder is that it goes down bitter, but leaves an incredibly sweet, lingering aftertaste. Which tea in my cupboard could pair with that bitter-sweet nectar and possibly enhance it?

I went with the Mighty Leaf Green Mango Decaf. When I bought this tea I had high hopes for it as a fruity, tropical dessert tea. Opening the pouch unleashed an aroma that could only be called a mango tsunami — it filled the whole room. Imagine my surprise that this tea came out bitter and harsh in the cup, regardless of how gently and carefully I brewed it. The second infusion was much less bitter, but you have to get past that first cup. So I risked mixing my two most bitter teas to create a tea gestalt — an end product that was greater than the sum of its parts.

The first infusion was just as expected — bitter and slightly astringent, but with a nice fruity punch from the mango. But I wasn’t here for the first infusion. That was just the cross I had to bear to reach the second infusion.

Ahh! The exalted Second Infusion. I’ll cut to the chase and just say that it exceeded my wildest dreams. This was one of the finest cups of tea that I had ever experienced. Smooth, fruity, decidedly green, no bitterness. It was a party in my mouth!

The bottom line is that I took a tea that had been an initial disappointment (the Mighty Leaf Green Mango Decaf) and blended it with something else in such a way as to produce a cuppa that transcended the properties of each component. Yes, friends, a disappointing tea can be redeemed and brought to new life when judiciously joined together with a compatible product. It is a new creation, a revelation, an epiphany.

Back logging, had this in my coffe @ Bible study today. Yum!
