This smells as divine dry as it tastes brewed.
A subtle apricot without added peach.
The black base is perfect; without any detected astringency.
It is lovely sweetened with a bit of stevia.
I would not sweeten with honey as I am afraid it would
upset the delicate balance…jmho…
Thank you, Miss B, I appreciate your generosity.
This tea is beautiful ♡

Grabbed this one out of my sample box this morning… Making a small cup and leaving enough for a small one knowing that I enjoyed this the last time I tried it and will have a hard time seeing it go.

Smelled sweet & lovely dry leafed and I had forgotten what the flavor profiles were since my first cup of it. I steeped it up w/o looking at flavors and was surprised by the raspberry & light mintyness… Very enjoyable tea.

A touch of floral notes are present, but only provide a bit of elegance to the cup. Will be a sad sipdown soon.. Been saving this one and L’Automne. So wish they were more accessible to the U.S. Thanks again MissB for sharing them!

I am hoping some day Vente Privee will do a sale again!

I wanted something with a black base this morning and reached for this to try. I had reservations about trying this one as I saw everyone’s tasting notes about it tasting of raspberry. I’m not much of the fruity hot tea drinker, but I am finding myself coming around to some of them.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this one! Thanks MissB.. you sure have a knack for picking teas :)

It tastes of raspberry and even a bit of floral notes to me. The mint comes through simply as a slight coolness at the end of the sip and the black tea base is there, but not showy. A very nice blend that works well together.. even for someone who doesn’t usually pick up fruit teas. I could even drink this one w/o sugar, but added a tiniest pinch to see what it would do… the raspberry came through a bit more. As it cools, I get more floral and less raspberry.

Gonna have to have Hubby try the last of this as he loves fruit teas… It might find it’s way on our shopping list. I could see this one being good iced in the summer too since he really enjoys iced raspberry tea’s at restaurants and this one would be so much better than those if the floral notes don’t come out too prominently that way… I could always add fresh raspberries to give it a bit more flavor and make it pretty :)

I’m winding down my valentines with this sample from MissB another rose tea :) I was hoping to get to my chrysanthemum puer but I’ll save that for tomorrow:):) anyways I don’t drink greens as much as I used to but this one is so gorgeous I couldn’t resist! The pale pink rose buds were so pretty in this tea. And it pairs amazingly with the lychee! I wonder why this one doesn’t have any reviews except one… Hmm! I found this one to be perfect to wind down my night! The green base tea is so simple that it works perfect with these two other delicate flavors.
Happy valentines day steepsters!

Wow why is there only one other review?
I’m sad I didn’t try most of these before the vente-privee sale. This definitely would have been part of my order. Anyways, it being valentines and all I thought a rose tea would be appropriate. I woke up to breakfast in bed from the boyfriend this morning before he left for work. After I decided to take a shower and then use my new Lush face mask (brazened honey). I then decided to take a bubble bath, ha ha a little backwards but hey! It’s Valentines and ill do what I want to! I split my bath bomb in half and went to town! I chose Lush’s Sex Bomb! My absolute favorite from there! So soothing! I felt like a million bucks soaking in the amazing scent! I read and drank this tea for a while! Mmmm mmmm mmmm!
I definitely am a rose lover and I love how well this paired with the Assam base. A perfect balance of woodsy and floral notes. Pure perfection for my relaxing afternoon! Thank you MissB for this!

Mmmm this was a great ending to my day. Yesterday I took the boyfriend to Oakland to see the golden state warriors play the Miami heat (NBA game)his friends and I all pitched in and bought the tickets for his birthday last week, and we stayed San Francisco. This morning we took a walk down to union square and had breakfast at the cutest little French bakery. Then I was off to a stop at LUSH which was a must!
This tea made me wish i was in France tonight! I never give fruit teas a chance. At least not hot brews. I usually cold steep them. This was delicious though!
Definitely taste the blood orange and the rose who would have known it would be a great pair. These French tea makers are genius! Genius I tell you!

I forgot what number of sipdown I’m on…78 or 87 or something like that.
It was a busy afternoon: students, then my monthly high tea gig at the retirement home, then a grocery run on the way home, another student, Taichi class, & now I’m at Tony’s watching the olympics & enjoying this tea.
This tea is one of the better tasting Rooibos teas I’ve tried: A nice creamy milk chocolate coupled with a juicy orange. It’s really quite good! Thanks to my tea sister, Sil. :)

__Morgana__

LOL. Sipdown fatigue.

Terri HarpLady

Luckily I have a list on my desk :)

Terri HarpLady

I was close! Its sipdown #79! Now I feel like I need to complete one more sipdown, so that I can end the day with 80.
Probably not gonna happen.

i’m hoping to get back to 150 before the weekend..so that when my couple swaps/river tea winnings show up i’m still at 150.

Try as you might, when I finally get this box off to you, it is guaranteed to push you back up to 200, my dear :)

I’m on a roll with these French tea lately! This one came to me from MissB a while back. One of my couple lovely surprise boxes from her. So generous so many if my steepster friends are! Anyways. This tea.
Yet another geniusely made tea tea from Fauchon!
First sip is pure bliss and vanilla.
After note of lavender on the tongue and then citrus!
Great base teas! Whatever Fauchon uses as their base is heavenly!!!
Another great cup!

This is the only rooibos tea I’ve ever found that I truly enjoy.

This one is getting quite old, and I’m pretty sure Fauchon doesn’t even have this tea anymore (which is terribly sad considering I’d order it regardless of what the shipping may be).

This one has that rooibos base, but it’s not medicinal at all. There’s a lovely subtle hint of orange that mixes well with the base and hints of milk chocolate and cream as well.

Unfortunately I don’t think Fauchon even ships outside of Europe anyway. I remember there was some website we used to stalk for Fauchon teas, as they had them every once in a while.

It’s such a shame. I actually had a friend pick this one up years ago when she went to Paris. :(

I went with making this one this morning at work. All the teas in my ‘tea drawer’ have lost the majority of their flavour, sadly. It’s my own fault. I need to organize myself this weekend, and put my loose teas within bags, then within extra tins I have lying around for my work tea drawer. Ziplocs are just not the way to go. Sigh.

Dexter sent me a couple cups worth of this a while ago in a surprise parcel. I’ve been hoarding it, for fear I’d never find my precious L’Automne again. The orange and chocolate just work so well with the rooibos base here. The base isn’t off-putting or offensive in any way, which is truly shocking since this is the only rooibos to date that has managed to surpass my strict taste-testing for rooibos. Truly a masterpiece.

Dex is awesome, and sending along a bunch more. This is a celebration cup. Yum!

Sil

Love this blend sooooo much

ohfancythat

Really?! Rooibos that tastes good?!

Courtney

This is so far the only one haha! Even Lemon and Lime Chiffon didn’t pass the test.

Stephanie

I bet I’d still hate it LOL

Veronica

I’m intrigued.

Courtney

Haha it’s possible Stephanie. I’m rooibos-picky, but I’m sure someone could be more so.

Cameron B.

Have any of you tried the Mango Lassi rooibos tea from Butiki? If so, is it as tasty as it sounds?! :D

Courtney

I’ve tried it, but seeing as I don’t like rooibos, perhaps someone else will be able to let you know. :) In my experience with Butiki, generally all Stacy’s teas are drinkable, even if the taste isn’t to your liking, just due to the high quality.

Sil

i like stacy’s mango lassi rooibos, but to be fair, i am not nearly the rooibos hater that others are…

Cameron B.

I find that I like rooibos when the blend is good. I just happen to be a sucker for anything with a creamy flavor profile, which is why I noticed the Mango Lassi. Thanks for your input. :)

TeaBrat

I loved the mango lassi from Butiki!

VariaTEA sent such a generous amount of this! I am really enjoying this tea, which continually amazes me. The orange seems to work well with the rooibos base – simultaneously balancing each other so neither is overwhelming, but so they’re both still present. The chocolate flavour is lovely in the background.

At this point, any herbal or rooibos that I like enough to keep around needs to be added to my cupboard. I love my black teas, but I have an awful tendency to forget to eat, but continue to drink black tea, and the caffeine just wreaks havoc on my empty stomach.

Does anyone know the best way to order Fauchon to Canada?

Sil

i haven’t figured it out yet courtney…let me know if you figure it out. i ADORE this tea… drinking it atm..

Courtney

I’m on their website, but to contact them you need to fill in all your details! I suppose I could. I do adore this tea.

VariaTEA

I am so glad you are enjoying this. It was good but I am not a chocolate orange lover so this would not have been appreciated if it stayed with me. I am grateful I got to try it though.

Sil

gasp

Courtney

Even their shipping prices within Europe seem outrageous. Sigh. I’m finding so many things I need in Europe now, just weeks after my Swedish friend left for Australia.

Terri HarpLady

This one is in my lineup!
BTW, my son’s best friend Matt married a girl from France that he met online. I still haven’t met her, but I’d love to ask her to pick up some teas when she goes home to visit :)

Sil

hahaha dooo eeeet

Sil

how about…you guys pay ME to go and i’ll bring it all back…deliver it to your doors ;)

yyz

You might want to contact the people at Fouvrac to see if they are carrying any at the moment. There is some Fauchon in their Facebook pictures put not in their menu of teas though they say it is incomplete. The main French lines they have seem to be Betjeman and Barton and kusmi but they do phone orders if they carry it.

VariaTEA

yyz, everytime you mention Fouvrac I am so tempted to venture over to the store to check it out.

Sil

I WANNA GO TOOOOOOO

VariaTEA

I think it might be a bit easier for me to get there. You are welcome to come visit and we can go together :P

Courtney

Me too, me too!

VariaTEA

All are welcome :)

MissB

This is WONDERFUL stuff. I grabbed all of mine at Winners, and have yet to find it on their website, or anywhere else that will ship to Canada.

yyz

I have a list I want there cherry tea, les classiques, one of their straight black blends two of their greens ( one is meant to taste of lemon macaroons, one with a Yunnan base their smokey jasmine and according to one chat group I read their oolong Paris s’éveille is better than MF wedding imperial.

Courtney

I also have an ongoing list. I may check the Winner’s handy me tomorrow. There’s also a Holt here.

yyz

It’s possible they may appear again at winners last time it seemed it was within a few weeks after the vente privée sale.

Courtney

I haven’t heard of this sale? I do hope they reappear.

yyz

It was the us only online sale listed in miscellaneous sales thread. They seem to be doing it seasonally.

Sil

Vents privee didn’t have this…you didn’t miss it lol it was the firsts thing I looked for haha

Hello there orange chocolate. Or chocolate orange. The rooibos isn’t overly strong here, and I really dislike fruits and chocolate together (why would someone ruin a perfectly good piece of fruit?!), but amazingly, this tea I may actually be enjoying. What is happening?

I must be because the rooibos is well hidden. We’ll go with that.

Thanks for sharing VariaTEA!

Oh my gosh!!!!! Is anyone still going to order from Fauchon on the Vente-Privee sale? If so can you please add the tin of this for me please?!!! I’ll pay you the $12! I already placed my order yesterday and totally forgot I had a sample of this and I fell in love with it today when I had it after work! Pretty pretty please?!?! Of rather not have to pay for shipping twice and play 2 different orders.

Anyways this tea is delicious! This was another glorious tea from my great box box of Dexter tea! This reminds me of the very first loose leaf I ever tried that I keep near and dear to my heart and always restock it no matter what! My glorious Victorian vanilla from a farmers market business back home.

This is a great balance of rose and vanilla and u get that citrus after note!
I really hope I can get my hands on this before it is too late!

Another sample from Dexter3657

Apparently Fauchon teas are hit or miss for me. I REALLY liked a couple and a couple I have been pretty indifferent about. This is one of the latter. Nothing wrong with it exactly, it just doesn’t stand out as anything outstanding, you know?

This seems a lot more subtle on the flavoring than the Apricot…shrug

Super glad I got to try all these Fauchon samples. I know I am curious to try more but hesitant to pay big money for them unless I’ve already tried them and fallen in love like I did with La Naissance!

After reading Stephanie ’s note and many other that have popped up over the past week or so I went diving into my Great Big Dexter Package! Wahlah! I knew it was in here somewhere!

(I have been on a huge French tea kick again…)(not good for my hopes and dreams… Drinking them makes me want them and it’s just not an option with the prices.) However…. I am the proud owner of fauchon raspberry macaron!!!!! (FINALLY… With the cool container and everything thanks to the daily vente-privee emails. I check them every morning at 6am on my mid break at work, and I should have looked then but I waited until after work 3am to check it out and missed out on the chocolate eclair tea! Gasp, there is such a thing? And it’s a French tea too?! Wish I could have had my hands on some of that for that great price!)

Anyways… Back in track about this tea. So reading the company’s description down below all I got was almond. As it steeped I was wondering if this was the same tea because I smelled some floral essence, jasmine? Rose? Lavender? Whatever it was it smelled delicious with that creamy and Lamont nuttiness this tea also have off! Wowzah! First sip I almost died and flew to heaven! Nuttiness, floral and CREAMY? ALL IN ONE CUP? Wow! I’m moving to wherever these tea are made and building a chic apartment right next door!

Come to me oh so heavenly and delicious tea that I cannot afford but love so much! Guilty pleasure of mine!

A mint one for the morning! I wouldn’t pick this out for myself but so far MissB’s guesses for me have been really accurate. Thank you again for all the samples!

The smell of this is fascinating—can something be minty and fruity at the same time? I didn’t think so before this. The taste is mostly mint up front but then changes to be like apricot. I don’t love it because of the strong mint, but it is better than I expected.

ETA: As this cools down it’s almost all mint. It still tastes good-quality, but I just don’t like mint that much. Oh well.

Another generous swap sample from Dexter3657!

First off, I wasn’t overly excited by the idea of this tea. I do rather enjoy fresh pears, but the thought of a pear flavored black tea was just kinda “eh” in my mind. Boy was I wrong! OK, you know how a really good Bosc pear will have an almost floral quality to its scent/flavor? This tea somehow captures that. These French teas, man…something magical about them :)

TheTeaFairy

Oh, how convienient, I also have a sample of this from Dexter, yay! You make it sound really good Stephanie, will be hard to resist it, it is screming at me right now, drink me, drink me!!!

Starfevre

I have more of this if you want another sampler. I wasn’t too enthused about it.

Stephanie

Wow it even re-steeps well! Dang, Starfevre, you’re so generous! I’m sending you some surprises this coming week but I haven’t picked them out yet…

Starfevre

I also have a caramel and jasmine tea from Fauchon that I hated very much.

Stephanie

:-O that sounds amazing…

Starfevre

I don’t think there was anything wrong with the tea. I think I just hate jasmine.

Stephanie

I lurve me some jasmine :)

I’ll send you some then.

I’m quite impressed that this tea reads 100% apricot and NOT peach! I’m enjoying it hot but I bet it would be fantastic iced. The black base is super smooth. Simple yet sophisticated!

I adore peach teas, This would totally work for me!

Dexter

Glad you are enjoying it Stephanie.

TheTeaFairy – those are the kind of comments that cause additional teas to be added to “your” box. Just thought I would give you fair warning on how this works. :))

This smells sooooo strongly of orange and as I took my first sip, I realized why…this tastes almost exactly like a liquefied Terry’s Chocolate Orange. The only problem? I was never a huge fan of those :(. I can definitely appreciate why people would love this tea but I suppose it is just not for me. Nonetheless, I am glad I got to try it and it definitely has me intrigued as to how other Fauchon rooibos blends would taste. Thank you to both Dexter3657 and Cavocorax for sending me a sample but it seems as this tea and I were not meant to be.

I like chocolate oranges but have had a difficult time finding a tea that was comparable. I think Sil has spent the most time looking for great orange chocolate teas…

Agreed VariaTea!

VariaTEA

Wow. I had issues with that post. “I think could Sil could…”. That makes no sense.

Hahaha I didn’t even notice. Funny what the brain leaves out (or adds in) for things to just make sense.

Thank you Dexter3657 for the chance to try this tea. It really does smell amazingly like delicious mango. It is still pleasant but I feel as though I am not sophisticated enough to truly appreciate the subtle nuances of so many French teas I have tried.

I noticed there was two pages for this tea. I figured I would go with this one as it is the only one with a tasting note on it.

Anyways, this is another from my awesome swap package with Dexter3657. She was such a sweetheart and included a fair bit of different French teas for me to try. And after the success I had with Naissance, I decided to try another Fauchon.

I am noticing these teas are very potent when it comes to smell. Honestly they smell amazing. However, the taste of mango in this cup is quite subtle and only creeps in right at the end of the sip. Mostly this is a black tea. Subtlety isn’t always a bad thing, I just wish the taste was more closely akin to the deliciously strong mango smell. With that said, I don’t imagine it being too hard to get through the rest of the sample. Thank you Dexter3657 for the opportunity to try some companies that I might not be able to try otherwise (without paying an arm and a leg in shipping).

Preparation

I find the fruity French teas are more “scented” than “flavored” – at least that’s what it seems to me. Does that make sense, it’s like all the “flavor” is experienced through smell…. not sure I’m explaining it correctly – or even if that is correct – but that’s how they seem to me.

VariaTEA

I definitely get what you are saying and find that to be true in most cases. It is pleasant every now and again but most of the time I find myself wanting more of the actual flavor.
