Thanks, Cavocorax! Yes, I’m just trying this now. I still have to do the Coconut-Oolong-off, I know…

Anyways. This tea. It smells like creamy citrus candy. It’s pretty delicate, but that might be because it’s been sitting out on my counter for a couple months. I swear, I’m trying to drink down my samples! Really! I just have a HUGE box of them…

It tastes almost like thick water, sadly. The flavour is so delicate it’s almost lost. This is definitely because it’s been on my counter too long. I’m sorry, tea, for mistreating you. I’m sure in your original form you are delicious and amazing.

Preparation
160 °F / 71 °C 3 min, 0 sec
Cavocorax

Too bad it’s so weak. To be fair, I bought it off someone who’d had it for a little while too so it was going to be delicate no matter what! :O

OMGsrsly

It has potential! I’d probably buy it if I saw it. :)

Cavocorax

I probably would too!
(Also, I love how Steepster messed up and wouldn’t let you post – now you look VERY VERY Excited to get more of this tea).

OMGsrsly

Ugh, Steepster!

I got this from QueenOfTarts Tea Stash Sale. Thank you! I am so glad I picked the last few cups up from you. I am always in search of a good lemon tea.

When I opened the package the overpowering smell of lemon grass hit my nose and I was a bit scared. First taste, the lemon grass is there with the creamy vanilla. I wish the grassyness of the lemongrass was a bit more mellow, but overall this is really good.

I steeped this a second time and the zing of the lemon was a bit less bringing out a bit more of the creamy vanilla. I have never had the creamy lemon combo in tea before. I may have to search Steepster to see what other teas our out there like this. Great bed time tea!

This one smells amazing and i thought I’d love it. Unfortunately, the rose petal won out. I am soooooo not a floral/rose tea fan. This is going in my daughters’ drawer. She loves the rose teas.

Thanks Sil!

a sample of this came to me by way of ifjuly.

hardly slept, thumped out of bed after a few hours sleep and threw the rest of my sample in my mug as an incentive eye opener.

the first time round i wasn’t inspired… good but not great, i guess? this morning it was awesome though! exhaustion? timing…. wait wait…. i didn’t rinse out my mug from the aloe vera berry last night.

wow, do those blends blend well! even as an oops.

and i’m off again. (insert whoosh sound)

So I somehow found a lone tin of this blend at Tjmaxx today. There was another Fauchon tin but it was cracked and open so I passed. This was sealed so I thought why the heck not. It was $9.99 and French and I’ve heard so much about Fauchon on Steepster.

Granted, it seems a lot of the blends that get a lot of raves on Steepster don’t hold up for me for some reason (most brands too). Maybe it’s that my expectations are just more than it’s reasonable for tea to be?

In any case, I was even more pleasantly surprised with this blend. It smells beautiful. I’m not a huge fan of chocolate and orange because the orange can sometimes seem artificial. This is like real orange. And real chocolate and it is just delightful. And, the end of the sip is creamy deliciousness with none of the fake-vanilla taste that some rooibos vanilla blends have.

I used 2 tsp in my 16oz steeping mug and added sweetener. Instant favorite.

Lucky! Wish I could find another tin of this

sipdown! Thank you missB for letting me try this one. I’m glad that i didn’t buy a whole tin of this as it’s a little floral for me but not so much that the occasional cup of this wouldn’t be enjoyed. Subtract a little of the rose flavour and this would be a total hit for me! thanks missb!

another tea from MIssB I brewed this without looking at what i was getting into in terms of flavours because i wanted to to be surprised. It smells like a fruity mint….some essence of a black base there.

tasting the tea is like drinking a minty concoction that is tempered by a fruity background. I wouldn’t call it raspberry, though the fruit does sort of pop out at the end of the sip. Mostly though, this is a mint tea. It suits me just fine though as i do not count myself among the haters of mint ;) I for sure could get through a whole tin of this, though it wouldn’t be with any speed as mint is not always the first taste i want. Over all though, quite a nice tea even if it doesn’t remind me of any cake i’ve ever had :)

every new tea vendor brings with them a new romance. sometimes it takes awhile for a meeting of the minds…. this blend represents that compromise between fauchon and i. we’ve had a touch and go seduction, me often wondering if i was a bit mad because everyone loved fauchon and i was just kindof… there. however, no longer.

mint, maybe rosemary essence? mallow root or something soft like it. the blend itself had little tufts in it, like snow, bits of lightness.

very light, very fresh, an overall elixir no defined winter punch screaming ‘spearming’, ‘peppermint’, ‘white chocolate’, an overall picture of winter skaters on the rideau canal, shivering forms at the top of the tour eiffel…

what’s this is see behind my review page… this is a white tea? i had hoped this would happen, but was losing hope.

i am very impressed.

thanks MissB!

I love this tea. Someone else asked me to grab as much of it as I could for them (blanking out as to who on here), because they loved it so. I have to agree! It’s delightful. So glad you enjoyed it too!

JustJames

thank you for the treat!

Sil

yeah…for a white tea…this is pretty tasty heh

I like the idea of calling a new relationship with a vendor a new romance :-)

Another tea sample from MissB!
This tastes like a chocolate orange, which our family always enjoyed at Christmas until my dad suddenly developed a strong citrus allergy. I had it for breakfast this morning, but I think I would enjoy it even more as a nighttime treat.

mmmmm i like this tea a bunch, though i’ve found picking the flowers out makes it a more enjoyable cup. It’s not that it’s a floral tea persay, but something about the blossoms adds just a little of something i dont enjoy AS much. Over all though, this is a lovely tea and i’m glad winners had it when they had their fauchon teas. I did swing by the other day and their shelves were nearly BARE of coffee and tea…so i’m hoping that means more will be coming in soon….i hope lol

Stephanie

Dang I love this one so much…

Terri HarpLady

This is in the BBBB, right? I need to pull it out & give it a try

Sil

uh… 98% certain i sent this along for you to try “fancy french teas” at christmas

Terri HarpLady

OH…maybe I already drank it then, hahaha

Terri HarpLady

nope, just checked, I’ve never reviewed it, but I AM pretty sure I have a bag of it, so I guess I’d better get on it!

Sil

i have enough to send you another small bit if you didn’t get any

I just looked, & it IS in the BBBB! So I got plenty! :)

finally sat down to have some of this, which is decidedly stupid given that i’m sick but whatever! it’ my tea and i can drink it when i want :) This is quite delicious, though i do taste hints of floral notes in the background, making this less enjoyable than some of the recent fauchon teas that i’ve tried. I don’t hate this though and the almond flavouring is delicious! I’ll have to give them one another shot once i’m sure my tastebuds are back to normal heh

Terri HarpLady

Bummer that you’re sick. That’s no way to end the year! If you have any of that elderberry left, drink it! And feel better soon!

If my daughter were to review this, she would say, “Oh, wowwwww!”

I steeped it for a long time and then added a tsp of milk to make it extra creamy like an orange chocolate.

“Oh, wowwww!”, indeed!

Sil

i love that kid. she makes me happy. I’ll be sad when this one is gone.

Cavocorax

Awww. Who says she’ll be gone? What if we just stay in Toronto FOREVER? :O /0\

But maybe? I’ve got a really great job, and J is more likely to get work as an economist over here!

OMGsrsly

But we like you both over here on this coast too! :)

Sil

HEY! you have lots of ppl…. everyone over here has abaaaaaandoned me…

OMGsrsly

Aww! Poor Sil.

Cavocorax

Awwww. :O
Maybe if J gets some fancy analyst job making mega bucks we can buy a cabin north of here to escape to on the weekends and you guys can come visit for board games and tea, and IDK?

That cabin is what’s making me think long-term ON might not be so bad. :| And the bear will be older by then so board games WILL be feasible again!

Sil

We should have you guys up to our place up north….well Ian’s dad lives there but it’s amazing, even in winter!

Another cup of this – it’s so good, but not as good once it’s cooled. I just brewed it then I had to try and put the bear to bed, but then she refused to stay down and my cup was ruined for naught. :P

Now she’s watching Robin Hood (yes, at 2:44 AM), while I watch Supernatural, and we’re just winding down more… It’s not a bad life. She’ll most certainly sleep in until noon.

Sil

i will miss this one most when it’s gone of the fauchon teas. the others are nice but this one’s flavours appeal most to me AND it’s not a black base heh

Terri HarpLady

Did I sample this one?

Sil

not yet…next round of the box i’m including a metric crap ton of teas for you and tastybrew

I should probably backlog (not bacon, Autocorrect!) the other teas I had today but for the last few hours the power has been off more than on.

It went off just as I decided I needed more tea. Yep. So I started cold new wrong a resteep of Nutmeg Cream because I just love it.

The power jumped back on an hour ago so I jumped on it immediately to make tea
That only lasted half an hour, but I’ve got this to sip on so I quite happy.

Oh this is why having an ereader with a light built in it is AMAZING. I always keep it on the lowest setting and in a pitch black room I can read perfectly. For hours. Maybe a few says straight? I don’t have to charge it very often. I started reading Alice in Wonderland to my daughter but she for bored if tha and is now watching Blues Clues on my tablet. Technology us pretty great. (She loves books, but they need pictures. I can accept that!)

Anyway, I’m happy Sil let me scoop some of this from her. I really like it. I couldn’t find an orange chocolate tea that really gelled for me – often the flavours weren’t strong enough – but this is pure win.

JustJames

yay autocorrect! doesn’t everyone like bacon?

Cavocorax

Yep, yep they do!

Damn. I wish I could edit posts On Steepster on phone. All the typos are going to make me crazy. >:(

Hope the power is back on (for good) in the morning and I can do it on computer.

OMGsrsly

Bacon maple shortbreads? :) I didn’t get an ereader with a light. I use a red-tinted lamp if I’m reading late at night, because I’m a weirdo.

I’m undecided on this tea…it smells good, and OMGsrsly painstakingly removed as many flower buds as possible, since I don’t do florals well, but my taste, I’m not sure. I think that maybe my taste is affected from the hot cereal mix I just ate. I can smell more than taste this tea.

While I can detect some floral in it, it is on the very edge of what I can handle. I think.

I am reserving a rating for another time when I can drink this straight and see if it still tastes the same or not.

Fjellrev

Ah, yeah, it’s heavy on the rose for me, but I personally like rose.

Plunkybug

Florals are migraine triggers for me…especially rose.

Sipping this down, sadly. I am sharing the last bit with my mom. I brewed it in my great grandmother’s teapot. She absolutely loves it, and thinks it’s “classy.” And asked me to pick her up a tin if Winners ever gets another shipment in. Wow, the power of Fauchon.

OMGsrsly

:D Yay! Another convert.

Fjellrev

Yeah, you pretty much made her day. :)

Ysaurella

you changed your name ? does it means snow fox in Norway or Sweden ?

Fjellrev

I did! And it’s in Norwegian, although it’s very close in Swedish: fjällräv.

OMGsrsly

I’m referring to you as The Arctic Fox, BTW. :D I need to hear pronunciation to understand it, so you get an English code name for a bit!

gmathis

Tea tastes better when it’s steeped in a family heirloom :)

Thanks so much to OMGsrsly for passing some of this down! I was a little afraid of this one from the beginning when I read that there’s jasmine in here, but luckily, I cannot taste or smell it at all.

But what I do smell in the bag is Turkish Delight and cake! The cake is subtle but it definitely teases you. It’s not at all like your flavoured teas from David’s, or Della Terra, or H&S, but rather, the flavours are natural.

Flavour? Oh yeah, Turkish Delight! The almond is very subtle but I don’t mind that at all. I’m also enjoying this without any additives because why ruin a good thing.

I’ll admit, when all the Fauchon reviews started rolling in, I thought they might be overpriced and overrated, but honestly, they’re better than I thought they would be.

If only Winners would stop being stupid faces and start carrying Fauchon again.

OMGsrsly

MissB said every few months they’ll get more Fauchon teas in. Yay!

Glad you enjoyed this one. I wasn’t too sure to begin, but it’s grown on me. I love it!

OMGsrsly

(Not that she works there, but that’s what some staff said!)

Fjellrev

Good to know! I went the other week and their shelf was packed full of random teas I never even heard of. Makes me wonder what they’re like but it’s still a risk.

CrowKettle

Wait! Winners stocks tea? I need to get out more.

Fjellrev

I didn’t know either until it was announced somewhere in the discussions section. Who would have thought, eh? Especially since the stores always looks so… messy and disorganized.

yyz

Yay, someone else who gets Turkish delight out of this one. I really like this one.

Not a good start to the year so far. I have been very on and off with my tea notes. I wanted to do all the teas I drink, but so far haven’t done that.

This was today’s choice. I’m changing my diet significantly and am having this with some almond milk and stevia. It’s delicious. The almond brings out the apricot quite nicely and ends it with a nutty note.

Delicious!

Good Morning first day of vacation (this was yesterday of course.)

I decided to start my day off very French.

At first sniff: Juicy, succulent apricot fills my nose, in a very fruit way. It’s not the fake smell of apricot or peach that one might be use to. Nope, this is the real deal. I find the apricot is marrying with the black tea and I smell it in the background. It’s delicious. I will say, apricots are not my favourite fruit and I find sometimes I am downright disappointed when I eat the real thing, but this tea smells amazing

At first steep: This brews up as a nice strong black tea in the carafe. The smell of apricots fills my kitchen. I added cream and sugar to this one today and it tasted extremely fruity, but in that subtle way. I do like this tea quite a bit and will enjoy the 100g I was lucky enough to score when there was Fauchon in Canada.
