624 Tasting Notes
To be fair to this tea, I should mention that due to my cold, I believe my taste buds aren’t at their best right now. I steeped myself a mug full of this in the hopes that it might make me feel better. I think that my cold is unstoppable at this point and the virus is just going to have to run its course. It’s still doing a good job of keeping my throat moist, thus keeping it pain-free. Once it gets dry, that’s when it starts to get sore again. I started feeling better yesterday but today I’m worse. Frustrating! I hate being sick! This tea isn’t making my cold any better at this point but as I mentioned, I don’t think much will. All I can taste is lemongrass and peppermint. I get the green base as well and I’m happy to say that it doesn’t turn bitter when it’s oversteeped. It’s pleasant tasting and any fluids that I can take in at this point will be a bonus for my body. Lots of fluids and lots of rest. Looks like my cold is stubborn and wants to stick around for awhile so I’ll be drinking as much of this tea as I can, along with some other similar ones I have. Hopefully this time next week, this cold will be nothing but an unpleasant memory.
Flavors: Green, Lemongrass, Peppermint
I came down with the flu yesterday and spent all day and night eating chicken soup and drinking orange juice and ginger ale. Today it seems the worst of my flu-like symptoms have passed and now it seems my flu is turning into a cold. My throat is feeling raw and irritated today so I went to my tea cupboard looking for something that might soothe it. There is a local tea shop where I live that is run by a really nice lady who sells all sorts of loose leaf tea. I go in there now and then to see if she has anything new and during one of my stops she gave me some tea samples to try. This was one of them. I’m sure happy to have it today. I am not a fan of licorice flavour in tea but I know that it’s important to have it in this one because it’s known for helping a sore throat. Once steeped, you can really smell the thyme and the aroma is quite pleasant. The flavour is mostly licorice but it’s not completely taking over. I can also taste the ginger, cinnamon and cardamom. Overall, it’s very herbal tasting and I’m happy to say that it does seem to be helping to soothe my throat so that’s a bonus. Upon re-steep, it’s weaker but still effective.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Ginger, Herbs, Licorice
Wow – headache, flu, and cold?? That sounds miserable! I hope you get some much-needed rest today. You’ve definitely earned it!
Thank-you Shae! Yesterday was pretty miserable but I don’t feel as bad today. I hate being sick though!
I went out for dinner tonight and this was the tea I received when I asked if they had lemon tea. I wasn’t too impressed with it. Not bad but not great either. I can taste the lemon and the honey flavours but it’s artificial and sharp tasting and not what I would call smooth. This tea would do in a pinch but it wouldn’t be a tea I would ever buy for home use.
Flavors: Artificial, Honey, Lemon
I received this as a sample in one of my recent David’s Tea orders. I was happy that this tea in particular was sent because I had never tried it before and had always wondered about it. I would have bought a small amount to try previously but when I asked my sister about it, she told me it was “awful.” I steeped mine and added a little agave nectar and milk. I was expecting the worst but hoping for the best. I ended up pleasantly surprised when it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. In fact, I found that I actually liked it! Nutty overload! It’s very strong in it’s nutty flavour, different and unique from the other teas I have in my cupboard. I can taste the black tea in the base and I like that it’s smooth. I also get a nice hint of coconut . I guess my sister and I have different tastes in tea. She’s a big fan of Love Tea #7 and Fantasy Island and I prefer this one over both of those. Maybe if I had drank this plain, without the agave nectar and milk, I wouldn’t have liked it quite as much but with those added, I enjoyed my mug of it.
Flavors: Coconut, Nutty, Smooth
