Sipdown. I notice David’s discontinued this flavor, so despite their protests to the contrary, I take it they DID change the recipe and it backfired in a big way. I’m sad the original is no more, but I’m certainly not sad to part with this version.

Sipdown. I was pretty pleased with this tea when I first got it, but it hasn’t worn well. It just got boring, somehow. Welp, good enough while it lasted, but not feeling the need to replace it.

I didn’t really think much of this tea at first. I was using the 20 second steeps that the directions recommended, and it tasted weak. All I got were some very faint darjeeling notes. But then I started steeping it more like my regular black teas (a few minutes per steep) and I’m liking it SO much better. It’s so nice and full-bodied, a little bit spicy, but with some natural sweetness and earthiness (I guess that’s the yam note mentioned in the description). I hope I haven’t committed tea sacrilege by only getting two steeps out of a pretty pricey tea, but I just don’t have a well-developed-enough palate, I guess, to taste anything at 20 seconds.

Sipdown. This tea was always sort of a mess to brew, in that I couldn’t make it in my gravity steeper because the flavor is so strong it would taint the flavors of anything else I steeped for a week. So I had to use my tea ball, but the herbal mix is so fine that a lot of it leaked out through the little holes. Nevertheless, it was well worth the trouble because this vanilla-citrus-spearmint blend is definitely one of my favorite David’s flavors (and so much better than its sort-of counterpart, Teavana’s Jade Citrus Mint). So I’m sorry to see it go. Adding it to the list now for my next order.

Not bad, but very mundane, especially coming after the strawberry notes in NMTC’s Lady Londonderry. Why don’t these two flavors taste more alike when, ingredients-wise, they have so much in common? As others have noted, the strawberry flavor tastes natural enough, but it is very muted here, and mostly what I get is just the rather muddled taste of the black base. Not one of NMTC’s finest.

Definitely meant to be iced, this is THE tea of summer for me.

As a vaguely fruity tea, this is pleasant enough, but as the mango with a side of lime tea that it’s supposed to be, this is rather a disappointment. The mango flavor is weak — even Adagio gives stronger mango than this — and the lime is non-existent. I’ve also tried it iced, and it doesn’t make any of the flavors more prominent. The base is fine, but overall I wouldn’t say this is NMTC’s best effort.

Finally got around to doing an iced tea steep off between NMTC’s Lady Londonderry and Metropolitan’s. They are very close, but I think NMTC is the winner. Metropolitan’s seems to have stronger flavor overall, but it is muddled; NMTC’s has a slightly lighter, brighter note, and it’s easier to pick out the lemon strawberry flavor. Neither one, though, is as strong on the lemon strawberry as I would like. They both smell absolutely heavenly in the bag, and while I do taste the flavoring, it’s a pale comparison to the aroma.

Sipdown of this one too :( It didn’t take long for this to become my go-to afternoon tea, so the 2 oz. I purchased to try went really fast. Must get some more asap.

Sipdown. Keep in mind that I don’t have a well-developed palate for unflavored black teas, but to me this just seemed like a weaker version of Jabberwocky. It was still pleasant and I enjoyed the sample, but if I was purchasing again, I’d definitely go for the Jabberwocky.
