Got a sample sachet of this in my latest order. For some reason the name and description of this tea made me think the bergamot would be very strong, but it’s quite the opposite — the bergamot is mild and the base is silky smooth. I can see why they say most of their customers don’t go back to regular earl grey after tasting this version. It’s mellow and refined, and honestly, growing on me with every sip. The fact that I have a plate of fresh snickerdoodles to go down with it isn’t hurting either :)

This was another free sample in my recent order and a very nice surprise. I love spices in baking, but I avoid spiced teas like the plague because they usually go way too far and just taste like liquid cinnamon.

Here the emphasis was on the tea, and the spices just served as a pleasant accent. This is a nice approach that I wish more blenders would follow.

I got this as a free sample in my order. When I was browsing the site, I thought this flavor sounded kind of strange, so I skipped it, but it’s actually really good. So glad I got to try it :)

I guess my first impression from the name was ‘raw carrot’ but this really tastes more like sweet buttery cooked carrot. My family has a carrot souffle recipe we make occasionally, and it reminded me a lot of that (so bonus points for nostalgia).

I don’t taste the coconut at all, and I can’t really pick up on the cashew either — but cashew is such a mild flavor, I’m guessing it would just make tea taste creamier, rather than stand out as its own note.

Overall, a soothing satisfying cup.

So nice to have this in the cupboard :) I got a sampler from A Quarter to Tea awhile back and this was my favorite of the lot. I love the maple flavor and the spices are warming without being overpowering. A lovely morning cup..

Hurray, my order from A Quarter to Tea came in! Everything smells delicious :) I ordered a very small sample of this to try, mainly because I was tempted by the description of Sansa’s lemon cakes.

For some reason my first sip of this tasted like bitter lemon rind, but when the tea cooled just a little, the flavors settled down and nothing was bitter at all. In fact, it’s an extremely mellow tea. The assam base is very smooth. The lemon is mild. I get a hint of honey and a hint of floral. I can smell the pastry/cake note pretty strongly, but when it comes to the flavor, it plays a background role.

I thought this was a very pleasant lemon tea, but not a distinctive one. It reminded me a lot of David’s lemon (though it smells a lot better than David’s). I’m really glad I got to try it though, A Quarter to Tea’s flavors come and go so quickly. I missed their Key Lime Jade and I’m still kicking myself.

Sipdown. This was a pleasant dragonwell, but it didn’t really distinguish itself from other dragonwells in flavor (though it looks quite a bit different from the ones I’m used to). I will probably continue getting my dragonwell from Teavivre.

Also I am down to 24 teas now. At first the downsizing trend seemed like a good thing, but it’s not funny anymore. Really looking forward to getting my Quarter to Tea order in and being all set up for fall with some Syrupy Pumpkin Pancakes.

Sipdown. By the time I finished my 1 oz package, I warmed to this tea slightly. I don’t know if my brain learned to sort out the flavors or if I subconsciously just got a little better at making it (because I can’t really think of anything I changed in the steeping routine). But still, this is not going to become a favorite. The fact that this is the last tea in my NMTC spring order to be finished — even though many of the other pouches were much larger — is the final proof of how I feel about it. Not terrible, but definitely not one of NMTC’s best. Despite the fact that it smelled amazing.

Got this as a free sample in my order. The passionfruit flavor is convincing, and though I wish it was a little stronger, it’s still very enjoyable.

My tea stash has been dwindling lately, as I keep spending all my money on art supplies. Fortunately NMTC’s free shipping and modest pricing meant I could still squeeze this into the budget, so I picked up a pouch of over the weekend. A great morning standby.

Sipdown, and my 500th tasting note! I haven’t even reached that milestone on my (several years older) blog, so it’s clear where my obsession lies :) Here’s to many more notes and cups of tea!
