5272 Tasting Notes
Well Roswell Strange, I am not sure what I am doing wrong but despite shortening my steeping time, this just tastes like black tea to me. I have one more cup to get it right so hopefully I am finely successful at having the marshmallow-y, graham cracker-y, chocolate-y cup of tea I have been hoping for
Preparation
I decided to try this as a latte because I really liked DAVIDs White Chocolate Frost as a latte so I figured this was necessary to get a good comparison between the two. I also hoped that making this as a latte would cut down the excess of oils. However, when I started to drink it, it lacked the mint and it seemed like I was just drinking butter. This went down the drain and the rest of it went into the swap box so anyone interested in trying some (even after my rave reviews) feel free to message me!
Preparation
Heh. I think both are a wash for me. It’s too bad this didn’t work out – I had high hopes for it for you!
I tried this when my Teavana order arrived about a week ago and I was so excited for it but it is just not good. In fact most of the teas I got in that order went straight into my swap box because they were too oily and overly sweet. I have 3 other teas from that order that I have put off trying so far because I am afraid I will be just as disappointed as I have been by this and some of the other ones I got.
I find there are few Teavana blends I really enjoy, and I have to be prudent when ordering from them. Kona Pop! is still a favorite when I want a juicy iced tea, and I’m loving the White Ayurvdic Chai. The rest… actually when they blend an iced matcha for me, they’re pretty good too.
… and that sucks about ordering and having so little that you liked. It sounds like though you’ve had a few good swaps, which is great!
I really don’t know where I sit with this tea. I think it is pleasant enough but it is not something I would crave for. I taste the citrus but only subtly get the mint and I definitely am not tasting any of the vanilla notes that other people mention (although I am not sure why there would be vanilla notes as there is no vanilla in this tea. Luckily I have a whole timolino filled to decide how I really feel.
Preparation
I was not expecting this to be quite as tart as it is given that it smells like a sweet tea both dry and brewed. However when I read the ingredients I did realize there were ingredients that would cause tartness (i.e. hibiscus) so I guess I should have paid a little more attention. I am not really sure where I stand with this tea. I think it might be good with a little bit of sweetner but something tells me I won’t be buying more of this one after I finish the 10 g I have.
Preparation
Thank you for the sample Roswell Strange but this one is most definitely not for me. I had high hopes but this was way too sweet for my liking. Even as a latte I found it cloying for my tastes. I am glad I tried it though!
Preparation
Oh no! I’m sorry you really didn’t like any of the teas I sent you. This is a favourite of mine, but because it’s so sweet. If we do a swap again I’ll have to try really super hard to find something you’ll love.
I had such high hopes but this one was too much for me – which I never thought I would say tbh. I am very happy I tried this though because I would have bought it otherwise and then been unhappy. Also I think the s’mores might have been my fault because I steeped it for a while and I think that caused the black tea to drown out the flavors.
Well I’m glad I could save you some money then – it sucks buying something and then not enjoying it (and since this is so heavy 50g buys so little – so I think you need to know if you love it for it to be worth it). Do you have any of the S’mores I sent you left? I’d definitely try it with a shorter steep time. I’m trying to remember what you wrote in your tasting note – but if it tasted like “burnt marshmallows” or that sort of taste to you, then it was probably steeped too long.
You sent me enough that I can make at least one more cup of each tea so I will give them a second try and perhaps they will grow on me.
Roswell Strange sent some of this my way and I am glad I got to try it. Personally, this is not something I think I would want to buy again. I think it smells great and it tastes fine but there are just so many other cinnamon-y teas out there that I prefer. I will definitely enjoy the rest of the sample I have but I don’t think I will miss it too much while its gone.
Preparation
I’m sorry this wasn’t as much to your taste. Hopefully tea number three will be a winner despite its tendency to be a little oily (again part of why I’m recommending it as a latte).
I will probably try that next. And no need to be sorry. I didn’t think this tea was not enjoyable, I just think it is similar to a couple of other teas I have (i.e. DAVIDs Sugar and Spice) that I prefer. I do really appreciate the sample though.
I’ve never tried Sugar and Spice, but I’ve noted in the past that I imagine it would taste quite like this without the icing part in this blend. To me, Monkey Bread tastes more like Spice Cake with cream cheese frosting than Cinnamon Buns (what it was recently renamed). So I can see how they’d be similar.
Dexter3657 sent me a little bit of this tea to sample and to be honest I am not really a fan. It is called “Sweet Cherry” but it is actually rather tart. This is definitely not the sweet tea I was hoping for so I think this sample will be the only bit I have of this tea. I won’t be ordering this in the future but at least now I know it is not for me.
Preparation
This tea is very interesting. It smells amazing – like a warm vanilla cookie. The taste is a nice combination of vanilla and oolong that I think really works. Unfortunately the end note is floral to the point that it can at times be a little perfume-y. I think I will definitely enjoy a cup of this every now and then but I doubt it will be a permanent fixture in my cupboard.
Preparation
This tea sounded amazing but many people seemed to not enjoy it very much. Even the saleswoman at David’s tea told me it was not worth it. So when I started brewing my cup I did not expect much. Luckily I was presently surprised. The flavors are not very strong but I can definitely detect notes of both banana and chocolate. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by this one so thanks Aimee Popovacki for this sample!!
Preparation
I was so nervous because so many people are not fans but I am glad I was able to swap for it and try some given that it is no longer available.
Brewed a pot of this for people who don’t usually drink tea and they all thought it smelled amazing. Next thing I knew, the people who did not want tea were grabbing mugs to try it out. I think I definitely have found other teas I like more (although I really enjoy this one) but I know I can usually count on this to please a crowd.
