When I opened the package, the smell of lime was quite strong. I got excited for a sweet and zesty citrus tea. Brewed, the lime though present and very natural tasting, is very toned down and it is lacking the citrus zest I was so excited about. This tea tastes more like lime peel. There is also a lack of coconut in this cup. All in all, this is not a bad tea but it is not the punch of flavor I was anticipating.

JoonSusanna sent me this in a take it away package. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any steeping recommendations so I used 1.5 tsps and brewed it in just-below-boiling water for 4 minutes. That definitely was not right for this tea because all I am getting is a bitter base. I still have more to try to get this right so I will hold off numbers for now. Anyways, thank you JoonSusanna for sharing this with me.

I am going to preface this by saying that majority of the time I LOVE sharing teas. I think it is amazing to make someone a cup and watch as their face lights up as they experience each new and exciting tea. What I don’t love is when my mom (who will buy me teas but also thinks it is silly) and my obnoxious neighbor, yell at me to come make said neighbor a cup of tea. They are not asking because they are interested in trying something new. Instead, I have to make a cup of my expensive loose leaf teas and when I put it down for them to drink and tell them what it is, I get made fun of. Oh, and I also have been yelled at to “model” my new shoes for the neighbor. It is frustrating that even at 21 years old I am being demanded to do things and forced to prance around like a circus animal for the entertainment of my mother and friends. The worst part, they don’t even realize they are being offensive. Oh well, at least I have lots of tea to make me happy when I am frustrated.

Today I am trying this tea. My cousin gave me a tin of 30 sachets so I was really hoping to love this tea. I do think it is good but 30 cups is a lot to get through. Tastewise, the pomegranate is very weak. More than anything I am getting a sweetened oolong. This could be due to my using slightly cooler water than Harney recommends. Nonetheless, it is still a nice enough cup. I will hold off on numbers until I brew this properly to see if that brings out some of the pomegranate flavor.

I love the tin design for this one, though not so sure if I’d love the tea :p

This is a very tasty Earl Grey. The marshmallow adds a delicious marshmallow-y sweetness to the cup. Also, it is a creamy tea. Delicious!

ETA: This resteeps quite nicely :)

Merry Christmas to those celebrating :)

I started my day off with some Santa’s Milk and Cookies. This tea actually smells like cookies in a cup. Yum!! Also it has cute little maple leaf sprinkles in the mix. However, brewed I think the base is a bit bitter and strong but I imagine changing the brewing parameters will fix that problem in no time. If I can get pass the base there is a sweet baked good flavor although I don’t pick up on any milk.

Sipdown!! (163)

Today this is tasting a bit more like watermelon. However, this is still very similar to Cantaloupe & Cream imho so I probably won’t be ordering this as long as I have that in my cupboard. I am glad I got to try it though so thank you Roswell Strange.

Turns out that my non-tea mood was temporary and today I am back to my tea drinking ways. I am enjoying this as my first cup of the day. More than anything, this is an earl grey and a tasty one at that. This blend reminds me of an Earl Grey Cream as the vanilla comes through as a creamy sweetness.

Even in my non-tea mood, this is still a tasty cup. However, I think once I finish this off I will be turning to water as the teas are just not as enjoyable as they typically are. Just one of those nights, I guess :(

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
