Okay so I am not sure what exactly I was expecting when I asked Roswell Strange for a sample of this tea. The name had always caught my eye when I browsed DAVIDs site or when I would look at their catalog but I would always forget about it when I was in the store. I never really looked at the ingredients or read the description, I just always thought it sounded like it would be a good tea. So when I took my first sip and tasted Butterscotch, I was pretty shocked. This tea is buttery and sweet and very tasty. It is a bit strong but that is actually a result of my overleafing due to overestimating the amount of boiling water in the kettle. Luckily Roswell Strange was generous to send me enough for one more cup so I can get it right. However, despite my mistake with the water, it is still a very delicious start to the morning. Thank you Roswell Strange for sharing with me!!

This is my favourite white blend from DT, so far. I find it tastes like liquid Werther’s Caramel. It’s also my Dad’s favourite blend that he’s tried from my stash – so I usually hide the tin when he comes to visit (it’s pretty expensive to keep stocked since it’s so heavy – so I’m stingy with it). Tre also really likes it, but he’s forbidden from drinking it. To me, it tastes like liquid Werther’s caramels. I also find, with a supe

VariaTEA

haha luckily no one wants to go through my tea stash to find teas so I never need to hide anything but I can imagine it being expensive given those mulberries are pretty giant as are the chunks of coconut. Thank you so much for sharing with me. I will probably get more in the future now that I know I enjoy it! by the way, does it resteep well?

Roswell Strange

**I also find, with a super long steep time, I can get a good second steep out of it. Three steeps is pushing it though.

Roswell Strange

Yeah, it’s $11.50/50g – and with those giant (and heavy) mulberries and coconut slivers it can be a little much. But taste wise, totally worth it! Tre hardly ever goes through my tea, and when I still had it RVC was his go to tea (I hated it, so he had my blessing to drink as much as he wanted) – I swapped the 50g I had left all away, though. He loves coconut so, whenever he does want to drink something and he doesn’t just let me pick it for him, those are the blends he homes in on. My Dad just gets super excited by all the tea blends though and he always want to try a cup or two of something new whenever he’s over.

Roswell Strange

Actually – he recently made his first DAVIDsTEA purchase himself: 100g of Long Life Oolong. He texted me in the middle of work to share his excitement with me, not realizing I also have a 100g tin of it. When I go down for the holidays I’ll ave to teach him how to properly brew it – I think right now he’s using random measurements for each cup and not realizing he can resteep the leaves. I actually don’t even know what he’s making it in – he doesn’t own a small strainer (I mean, he has one for pasta…) or a teaball or anything like that.

OMGsrsly

Sometimes you can find Gold Rush in the 2/$5 bags. Keep your eyes open when you go in store. I scored 4 bags of it over the summer!

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
