2252 Tasting Notes
Cold, wet, rainy, and mopey….feeling low enough I really could’ve used a cup of coffee (sorry, sacrilege!) but a cup buzzes me clear to the ceiling these days. So this is a fair substitute with a little half-and-half. The chicory has a nice chocolately sort of feel.
Spent the morning and a good chunk of the afternoon writing hard in a room with no windows…emerged hoping for a shot of real light (I am convinced that I run on solar batteries), and discovered….blecccccch. Iron gray skies. So, to soothe my sagging psyche, I made myself a sunny little cuppa, left it all five minutes as prescribed on tin. Nice, except folding laundry and drinking it simultaneously sorta sucked the medicinal value out of it.
I’m amazed at the longevity of this tea—-I’ve had my box for longer than I can recall, and it brews up just fine. Usually gets dragged out for antioxidant purposes when I suspect somebody’s exposed me to a cold or flu bug. In the summer, I brew with home-grown spearmint and ice it down.
Was just introduced to this at a conference last week (the person in charge is also a dear friend and kept her tea basket at our disposal!) and was pleasantly surprised. Nice and fruity without a sharp twang to either the fruit or the green tea flavors. Probably should have steeped a little longer.
Preparation
Just returned from a trip plagued by airline delays and lack of good water to brew with. This was the only tea in my little travel stash that could overpower the nasty hotel water taste. Under normal circumstances, it’s a nice alternative to chai—-has a nice spice-rack cinnamon flavor instead of tasting like red hots.
