I really want to like this tea, because it smells wonderful, but I just can’t bring myself to enjoy it, no matter how I prepare it. Whether served plain or with milk and sugar, the flavors seem somewhat bland and boring to me. There is nothing that special about this tea, but there really isn’t anything too horrible about it either. This is one of those teas that you just have to try for yourself.
Preparation
ah another tea from the back of our cupboard.
it’s boring.
but you know what’s NOT boring…?
VOTING!
i hope you all voted today!! (when applicable)
it’s true, the scent you get when you tear open this tea bag’s packaging is pretty good. and the taste is pretty okay too.definitely not sucky considering it probably came from a grocery store.
i had a kinda zany morning. and i’m definitely too hyper to be around people. i’m gonna put on some modern classical and try to hideout.
Being a big fan of Clove, I find this Chai blend very tasty and relaxing. As others have written here, the Clove tends to overpower a bit, but that is the reason I bought this tea, so I’m very happy. In fact, I sometimes add a drop of Clove Oil to boost the scent a bit.
Preparation
This is the best bedtime tea I’ve ever had, in terms of how well it works. I only use it when I’m really really super restless, like last night.
The tea just makes me feel a little more relaxed and open to clearing my mind. I drank it before I did some yoga, meditation, and prayer, and it definitely helped get my mind in the right place for those things.
Yogi teas all taste basically the same to me, so I’m not making a plug for its flavor. It tastes like a sweet, apple-y, herbal bouquet of so-so-ness. No caramel that I can detect, despite what the ingredient list claims. But it really does deliver on its promise of “supporting a good night’s sleep.”
I agree with everyone else- this tea tastes nothing like caramel. It smells and tastes a lot like apple pie to me. Is that weird? I think it’s the nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves that do it. It is very tasty, but don’t expect caramel. Normally I am not a fan of rooibos, because I think it’s bland and yucky, but this blend has enough other stuff in it that lack of flavor is not a problem at all.
That being said, the list of ingredients in this tea is downright short compared to some of Yogi’s other blends. So that didn’t bug me too much. What made me hesitate was the fact that I had no idea what L-Theanine Suntheanine was, until a quick Google search revealed that it’s an amino acid. (I also discovered shortly thereafter that the box itself tells you that it’s “a naturally occurring amino acid found in green tea” and that it “promotes relaxation by calming the mind.”)
So it TASTED good, but did it serve its intended purpose of making me sleepy and relaxed before bed? Yes! I’ve had plenty of Yogi’s Bedtime blend, which contains Valerian, and I gotta say, this blend worked better for me. This is nice stuff. I woke up a little groggy, but I think that’s because I slept more deeply than usual after drinking this tea.
Highly recommend this tea! Especially for fans of pie.
Funny thing about Yogi- they’ll make a tantalizingly delicious blend full of herbs that are horrendously bad for you (looking at YOU, Kava Stress Relief!) And then make a terrible-tasting blend full of herbs that are good for you.
Like this one. Which I am only drinking because of this afternoon’s kava scare.
Here’s to a happy liver and unhappy taste buds tonight. Bottoms up.
Dandelions! Who knew?
This one has a little more of a bite to it before it sinks into Yogi’s usual slightly sweet, aggressively herbal aftertaste. The spice can be easily accredited to the cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper.
I have no idea what Burdock, Long Pepper Berry, Phellodendron, Coptis Root, or Winter Melon are, or what they do, but I’ve been drinking this tea for a while, and I seem to be fine, so I’m going to assume that they’re at least harmless, if nothing else.
Drank a mug of this with lunch. It’s my third cup of it, and I still love it. I feel better after I drink it at any rate, so even if it’s just a placebo effect, it still makes me happy.
I am unused to thinking of dandelions as things to be ingested. I think of them more as evil weeds that choke out lawns and gardens and proliferate at an alarming rate. However, they are yummy in this tisane! They’re present without being obnoxious, and they give it a sweet, lightly floral flavor, which balances the spice out nicely. Most importantly, it doesn’t feel like I’m drinking a ground-up pest species (which in fact, I am).
Good to know that dandelions have a more productive purpose, instead of just annoying the crap out of rural and suburban homeowners.
Mmmmmm! I was a little hesitant to buy this one, because generally we don’t think of detox as a pleasant experience at all, but I’m glad I did it anyway. (Plus, I had a coupon, so I figured it was easy come, easy go if it ended up sucking.) I’m usually not disappointed with Yogi.
When I first opened the teabag packet, I got a waft of cinnamon. Once it was steeped, I could taste the cinnamon, ginger, dandelion, licorice, cardamom, and cloves the most. The list of ingredients in this blend is quite extensive, but this is my second cup of this stuff, and I’m enjoying it immensely with no weird side effects. And if it’s helping keep my bloodstream free of toxins, than I will certainly keep drinking it in good faith.
Today I am reviewing an herbal blend by Yogi Tea, Honey Lavender Stress Relief to be exact. I am not stressed but a little bit of relaxation would certainly be nice. This tea is a blend of Rooibos, Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Spearmint, Lemongrass, Lavender, Peppermint, Lemon Myrtle, Sage, Passion Flower Extract, Stevia Leaf, and Natural and Organic flavorings. The aroma is sweet and minty with delicate undertones of lavender. The tea is only a touch floral and an even smaller hint of grass, there are also bright wisps of lemon balm. To me the aroma is very wintry, like when a novel describes the air as smelling like winter I imagine it being a mix of mint, lavender, and citrus with a hint of sweetness, clean and bright.
As it steeps (and we get to see what neat little phrase is on the bag tag) the aroma is still fairly sweet but it takes on notes of vanilla. There are also grassy and herbaceous notes and of course a hint of floral. But what about the mint you are asking, no worries, it is still there but it has calmed down a good bit allowing other aromas to pop through.
The taste of this tea is sweet and mild, the sweetness is like vanilla, I am assuming it is from the Rooibos since it has that mild earthiness to it. There are also notes of floral and grass with a hint of herbaceous flavors. As it cools it becomes mintier and sweeter. This tea is very soothing for a sore throat and clears up my chest a bit (oh mint, you are so powerful) I do wish the lavender was a bit stronger and less of an afterthought since with a name like “Honey Lavender” I expect it to be one of the main flavors. Taste not matching up to the name aside, I feel relaxed and this tea tastes good. Time for lounging under a pile of fuzzy blankets and cats.

I just bought a box of this tea and while I really like it, I also felt the lavender was an afterthought and only really evident in the smell of the dry tea bag. Idk if you had access to the full ingredients list at the time but it does have vanilla flavoring added, which is why you were tasting vanilla.
If you have any suggestions on a really lovely herbal tea I should try send them my way! I have been trying to find something to relax me at night when I can’t drink caffeine. I do like this tea but want to try some other things. I looooove lavender. Chamomile is another I’ve been thinking I should pick up. I did see a Chamomile lavender from Bigelow I think but if I recall right I’ve tried it and didn’t like it? Maybe. Idk. :P
Traveling Tea Box C #14
This is surprise in a cup. It lingers in your mouth. It warms you up from the inside out. I want this as a latte pronto. I must drive to the store after work tomorrow and buy this. I hope they have it! They better have it! I love it! It’s like Mexican hot chocolate with spice! And tea! A lot lighter but I love that kick! Thank you! Yay!
This is one of those herbal teas I enjoy more for their properties than the taste. Don’t get me wrong; this one tastes good but it is not “the treat” I contemplate whilst sipping. This is my company to reading, working and just when feeling cold and needing something to warm me up.
The aroma of the tea seeps deep, strong and I need no to very little additional sweetener since the cardamon&liquorice combo has some very welcome natural sweetness and hint of heat. Tasty, simple and warming!
Preparation
Another tea that I am just not crazy about. It’s nice, but nothing too special in my opinion. It’s almost a little too tart. I’m going to keep a few bags of this one for the fiancee and the rest is up for grabs!
-Standard teabag with a tag.
-Teabag smells of sweet blueberries and fresh tea. Tea liquor aroma is of tart berries.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy medium brown color.
-Tart berry flavor and finish. Overly sweet blueberry aftertaste.
-Best with sweetener.
-Fair tea. A refreshing cup with a strong blueberry flavor and a hint of tartness.
Preparation
from a taste standpoint, sure, its an okay tea. i like licorice and this mug emits a rather masculine, rooty, spicy aroma that i don’t find unpleasant. but truth be told, i was drinking this because i wanted to feel the effect of the magical kava kava root. alas, there is so little of it in here compared to a concentrated tincture… i didn’t feel anything at all after drinking this. it’s not good enough to drink it purely for the taste, i need a little buzz if i’m going to make this one a regular in my tea cupboard. maybe i’ll try a big mug with 3 or 4 tea bags in it next time? but then it’s just getting too expensive… idk. there you go.
Preparation
kava has helped me with my anxiety due to tinnitus. however i am wary about the collateral damage to my liver that it may inflict. As of the moment, i just imbibe it occasionally and responsively. Hope the manufacturer or producer can come up with a definite answers whether it can really harm the liver despite responsive usage
