very yummy for a medicinal, herbal blend. tastes pretty much like mint! well today i’ve just been on a sipping rampage, and am apparently mortified of the idea of getting sick since i picked up a bunch of teas today, 2 of which were echinacea-based. the other one was Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Echinacea Complete Care (which tastes a bit of a disaster). are the claims of immune support true? who knows….most things are shooed away unless empirically tested/validated. not that i’d have it any other way, for we need such a rigorous vetting process in order to confirm a substance’s efficacy (or lack thereof). anyways…
i liked this one a lot. i don’t really get much in the way of elderberry, just mint with a slightly herbaceous edge.
the main ingredients are Echinacea purpurea & European elder flower, including their extracts/concentrates. the proprietary blend is comprised of organic ginger rhizome, chamomile flower, yarrow flower & peppermint leaf.
this had damn well better work.
I woke up Sunday (2 days ago) morning with my head aching, my sinuses COMPLETELY blocked, so much so that I could not breathe through my nose let alone taste or smell anything. My voice was hoarse and I felt achy and awful. “Ah here we go, this is gonna be really bad”. You know that feeling when your on the verge of getting REAL sick? Yep, that was me. Well, I headed out to the mall (I was determined to pick up some tea at Teavana’s and no stinkin sickness was stopping me..and it was the only morning I had without three small kids to care for so I HAD to go if I wanted to shop in peace. Well, I stopped in Shopper’s Drug Mart and saw this. I already use the daily detox tea by Traditional Medicinals and know they make quality stuff. I picked this up and hit up Teavana for some tea and headed home. I proceeded to drink 2 bag cups all day long. I probably drank 5 or 6 cups (16 oz mug brewed with 2 bags for about 10-15 minutes) Well I tell you it’s a bloody miracle!! I am SURE this stuff kicked my immune system into high gear and I dodged a major bullet! i am a tiny bit stuffed up but NOTHING like Sunday! I can breath through my nose and my taste and smell came back the day after power drinking this stuff. If you feel yourself getting sick BUY THIS AND DRINK LOTS RIGHT AWAY! It works, it really does! I highly recommend this tea and it saved me from having to deal with a 6,5 and 2 year old while horribly ill..in other words it saved me from hell on earth lol. This will be my go to tea when I feel a bug coming on. And it tastes ok too!
Preparation
I enjoy this earthy sweet flavor. Hopefully it will help fend off this oncoming cold!

Hi Wonder Kitty – we just opened our online store with Genuinely Bahamian Teas if you are interested…

Thanks!! I am their marketing manager!
I added this tea; it may be an older one. I wouldn’t be surprised. The legend on the box and bags proclaims that it “Supports Weight Control.” Honestly, I haven’t noticed a difference when I do regularly drink it. What I have noticed is that this tea has a strong celery taste, which is something I do not go out of my way to find in a tea. Or anything else that I drink. Even half an organic lemon won’t save this tea.
I’m not sure of the ingredients anymore, as I no longer have the box and the envelope is mute on the subject.
Preparation
I enjoy the taste of this. It is earthy and sort of resembles black tea. I prefer it steeped like crazy, 15+ minutes is best. I drink it when I feel crampy to help extend the life of any advil or pain medication I might be taking and it works well!
Preparation
Another backlog from a couple nights ago.
I do so much talking at work and my throat isn’t used to it. It like hurts a lot whenever I talk, but luckily I haven’t lost it yet! I’m down to my last bag of this and I might need to replenish.
This tea, I really don’t like the taste of it at all. It tastes way to medicine-y and licorice-y and gross, but it’s the only one that helps soothe my throat.
I’d happily drink jugs of this tea if it means that my throat will get better, but alas, I think I can only take a single 12oz mug of this tea every once in a while.
Because my roommate is sick and I think I sloooowly might be getting sick. Throat Coat to the rescue!
It’s actually pretty good okay. Like I would totally drink this tea if I was in the mood for it, even if my throat wasn’t such a butt.
I figured I’d actually go for a caffeine-free because I totally stayed up till 3am because of all the freakin black tea that I drank.
After 7 cups of this, I can say it is definitely not working for me! Yesterday I added honey, and today I did the same plus lemon also… just gross. I’d put up with it if it was helping this cold any, but I don’t notice any improvement before, during, or after this tea :(
Coldcalm is definitely making a difference though. Would like to have my taste buds back soon so I can enjoy some more yummy teas!
Preparation
Well, I should’ve gotten off my butt and ordered more Clari Tea after it saved me from whatever I was coming down with a couple weeks ago… but since I didn’t, I’ve now caught the latest cold/flu thing that’s going around :( I learned my lesson and promptly ordered up some Clari Tea, then dug through Steepster to find something I could get locally that might help kick the crud. Swung by the store last night to grab this tea. It’s ok. I don’t really like the taste, but it’s not nasty… it’s just not as good as Clari Tea. Made 3 cups last night but so far I don’t notice any difference. I forgot to add honey like it suggests, so I’ll try that today.
[1 bag per 8 oz. boiling water for 10-15 minutes]
Preparation
Definitely suffering from massive stomach upset, so this is in order tonight. Brewed it extra strong with two teabags for 12 ounces, and I hope it does the trick! Flavor-wise it’s basically a mint with some herbals in the background. Definitely drinking this for something other than the flavor. ;)
Preparation
This tea will kill whatever ails you. I’ve been using this tea since I was in college (early to mid-80’s) and whenever I get sick, this is my go-to fix. According to other sources, Pau d’Arco is supposed to be an anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal herb. I have found it works, particularly on very bad chest colds and bronchitis. The flavor is earthy and somewhat astringent, but not unpleasant. I find adding 1/2 organic lemon to it makes it quite good. My rating goes to its effectiveness and apparent quality, not necessarily its flavor. I always steep this tea according to directions, which is 15 minutes.
Preparation
This tea is fairly effective at relaxing you and helping you to sleep, but sometimes it just doesn’t work for me. I have found that Kava is more effective at relaxing me in general. This tea has a somewhat medicinal flavor and is not a tea I choose for how it tastes. I always have to add about 1/2 organic lemon so it is drinkable. I have had much stronger valerian teas in the past (but my cats try to drink those rigt out of my tea cup). I do follow the directions and steep it for the full 15 minutes.
Ingredients from the back of the teabag envelope: Organic Valerian Root, Organic Passionflower Herb, Organic Lemon Balm Leaf, Organic Peppermint Leaf; Proprietary Blend: Organic Caraway Fruit, Organic Licorice Root.
Preparation
No, I’m not sick again but people are coughing and sneezing all around me at the office so I’m trying to stay healthy here. Maybe this tea will kill off some germs.
This is a pretty nice blend if you like the taste of licorice. There’s a lemon note as well but the licorice is pretty overwhelming. Anyway I like it but I’m a licorice fan. It also smells nice. :)
Preparation
I usually just drink peppermint tea because it tastes good, but today I ate a little too much, my stomach feels like its going to explode, and I can’t stop burping. U_U Multiple websites recommended peppermint tea so I drank two cups of this. I’m still burping, but the tummy doesn’t feel quite as bad anymore.
Preparation
This tea has a very mild, pleasant flavor to it. I am 32 weeks pregnant, and drinking this tea to help my body prepare for labor. I like the flavor enough that I will continue to drink it as a uterine tonic in the future.
It has a grassy, herby taste to it, almost like a mild black tea. It says to steep for 10-15 minutes on the box, but I let it steep for at least 20. I also leave the tea bag in while I drink it. It tastes better stronger, I think. I don’t add any sweetener, but honey would bolster it’s grassy tones.
Preparation
This is my second mug of this today, don’t know how much it will help but I don’t think it can hurt at this point. :P It sounds like the studies are mixed as to whether echinacea really does anything.
This is nice for an herbal tea, it contains spearmint and lemongrass so the overall effect is pretty minty/citrusy but not overwhelmingly so. I’m thinking it would be a good idea to drink this on a more regular basis during the cold season.
