I typically like loose leaf teas but I turn to this tea almost every afternoon. I actually leave the tea bag in the cup the whole time I’m sipping it. I rather like the bitter cranberry taste for an afternoon sip. As for the weight loss claim… I don’t see any of the benefits (although I don’t have to lose any weight) maybe for those looking to lose? Overall I enjoy this tea.

I really only tasted the ginger and (I think) stevia. It’s very a overpowering flavor, but worked well to settle my stomach. I usual brew herbal teas for 5 min when I want to receive the full medicinal benefits, but this became very dark and I decided to only brew 2-1/2 or 3. Good for achy bellies, but not all that tasty.

This bag has put me over the top. Obviously it’s late (1am), but I also have now consumed a hefty quantity of passion flower, chamomile, catnip, hops, et cetera!

The flavor is better than I recall it having been—of course, my powers of mental acuity are now severely impaired. I did notice that valerian is not listed among the ingredients on my new box of Relaxation Teas (of which Nighty Night is one). So the herbalists chez Traditional Medicinals appear to have changed the formula but not the name of this blend.

Well, whatever works—and this does!

Nighty Night!

In tonight’s steep-off chez sherapop, Traditional Medicinals Nighty Night is going sip to sip and sniff to sniff against Organic Nighty Night for Kids. They both appear to contain chamomile, hops, and mint, and a bunch of other “stuff” as well. From the scent of the dried tea, I’d surmise that the kid’s version does not contain valerian, while the grown-up version does. Why? Because it stinks just like valerian does!

To be honest, the only real difference I am finding is that the “For Kids” version is weaker, which makes sense, of course. Just as doses of over-the-counter medications for children are smaller, the “doses” of the soporific ingredients in this blend have been pared down.

This tastes fine, for what it is. There is a bit of a rootbeer or sarsaparilla flavor here, but overall, it smells and tastes a lot like one of the Yogi functional teas, which always contain something of a jumble of ingredients, many obscure. A lot of herbal action going on in such humble-looking filter bags. Nighty Night, too, is a functional tea, to be imbibed not for the pleasure of the brew but for the touted benefits.

We shall see shortly whether this homeopathic sleep remedy works or not…

I bought some of this from my local Target during the worst days of my cold earlier in the week. My favorite sick time beverage is freshly grated ginger root, boiled and strained, combined with some lemon juice and honey. I thought this would be a nice EASIER alternative for when I’m out of or too lazy to grate fresh ginger. The flavor is not quite as nice as fresh, but this sure works in a pinch! Ginger is SO soothing for sore throats!

I’m glad your cold is at least on its way out!
