I love this: it’s more of a chai than a tea, though the flavour may vary slightly between boxes. The sample I had in the Advent calendar was much more nutmeggy than the boxes I later bought. The nutmeg was a really welcome and unusual flavour so I would love it to be stronger. Definitely one to grab when it comes around again at Christmas.
Flavors: Nutmeg
This is not really my sort of tea: it’s too much of a tangy hibiscus flavour. It is a beautiful colour. T2 often have it blended with another tea as a tasting sample, and that tends to be better (eg Turkish Cherry). It is a beautiful colour. For people who like hibiscus, this will be a great choice. Cold and sweetened would probably work well.
Flavors: Hibiscus
Amazing and just like hot cross buns. For people who missed out on or ran out of Christmas Breakfast, this is a great alternative. I don’t find it overpoweringly cinnamony, and the sweet currant notes are distinct. There’s plenty of cardamom in this though it’s not overwhelming. Great with milk or honey.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Raisins
Expensive but more than worth it – it lasts ages and keeps all its flavour. You only need 2-3 pearls for a cup of tea: once they’ve unfurled, it’s ready. I used to carry half a dozen with me in a tiny pillbox. It’s one of the few green teas that I never find bitter in the slightest.
I absolutely love sticky toffee pudding, so I bought this tea hoping it might be like that awesome dessert. Though the flavor isn’t too similar, it’s quite nice! The flavor is sweet and desserty, and the fruitiness, though not necessarily like dates, is pleasant. It’s a high quality rooibos as well. I look forward to having this one again and again.
This came in the breakfast sampler I purchased on sale after Christmas. I love this type of sampler and have been really enjoying tasting through the set. This one is super nice. A bold, malty black base. Cocoa, vanilla, and a tiny bit of cinnamon. I made it sweetened with a bit of honey, and added a splash of oat milk.
The directions for this say to cook it in milk on the stove. It accidentally boiled over, and when I was cleaning the stove, I got a rooibos splinter stuck in the skin under my fingernail, and I haven’t been able to get it out. That’s never happened before. Anyway, I’ve had this a few times now. I’m putting in a bit more leaf than it asks for, but even so it’s not too strongly flavored when brewed as instructed. It’s a bit buttery and salty. I decided to brew it normal Western style instead and just add a bit of milk, and the flavors were much clearer that way. The milk was probably covering some of the flavor before. It’s cardamom and warm rooibos. I like it. I bought 8 oz, which I would never normally do, but it was a really good deal. So we’ll see how long it takes to get through that. I’m craving it for the fourth day in a row, so that’s a pretty good sign. I’d probably buy a normal blend over a sticky blend in the future since I prefer to sweeten tea using artificial sweetener myself.
Spent way longer than I probably should have staring at this sample bag from VariaTEA trying to figure out if “Sydney” was spelt incorrectly; I don’t know why but in my head I was convinced that it was “Sidney”. It’s not, and I was wrong…
Anyway; this was fine – it’s just a very typical Earl Grey with a medium bodied and very floral bergamot over an almost ‘brassy’ tasting black tea.
It’ll take me a while to finish this off just ‘cause I never seem to crave EG, but there’s nothing unappealing about it otherwise. Just not my jam.
Another T2 tea I had been eyeing for awhile, and finally picked up during their sale ($5 for 3.5oz!). I absolutely love this tea. I love a creamy banana flavor on a mild black base, and that is exactly what this the delivers. It’s more of a banana pudding flavor rather than a banana bread flavor, which I appreciate. Can’t wait to try this as a latte!
Flavors: banana, Custard, Vanilla
If anyone in the US wanted to buy the Banana Bake and split like 50grams with me, I can swap some other teas for it.
and possibly Sleep tight, Sulawesi Sling, Lamington, Red Green and Dreamy, New York Breakfast, Melbourne Breakfast, Jaffalicious, Sticky Date Delight, Wakey Wakey, Hot Choc, Boho Rose, A Star is Corn
And some not on sale teas: Hot Date Chai, Caramel Brownie, Mangoes and Cream
I’d even be happy with 25 grams of these, if anyone wanted to stock up. I feel like many of these weren’t on the sale list a week or so ago. I also would only swap my fresher teas. I don’t send out older teas. I would be happy with whatever I get to try (but mostly Banana Bake)
Tea-sipper, I feel you. And I would help you with that, but I understand that shipping prices are way too high. But, if you really want to swap internationally, I will be ready :)
Oh tea-sipper, I just made an order the other day, and my order included a few of the things on your list! I’d be totally happy to send some your way!
No problem! I just double checked, and I ordered: sticky date delight, watermelon sorbet, sticky honey rooibos, red green, southern sunrise, terrific toffee, and a star is corn. Just for reference so you can keep searching for the other things on your list!
I had been wanting to try this tea for quite awhile, and finally picked it up during T2’s sale. I love genmaicha, and I love sage, so I was very excited. Unfortunately, the blueberry flavor was very synthetic and overwhelmed the entire cup. I found it pretty unpleasant.
This is from TreeGal’s package back in the day. Thanks so much! TreeGal didn’t like this one and I can’t say I do either. It’s odd. It’s almost like there is a chai flavoring sprayed onto the leaves and I can’t say it’s very tasty or appealing. It’s too strong anyway. There was an entire star anise in the infuser… But also the black tea itself is so weak the brew hardly has any color to it. One element of any chai I can’t abide is a weak brew. Chai needs to be deep and dark. Also, there is nothing and I mean NOTHING “chocolate chip” about this blend. Nothing at all. Did they forget any chocolate? The description mentions cacao bean pieces? Also there was a ton of orange blossoms in the blend though the blend didn’t taste like them at all. An odd blend. I’m surprised by the high steepster rating but maybe TreeGal and I have a bad batch.
