So, I get up this morning to find that our cable is out. Last night when it was windy from the hurricane I asked mom that if our cable went out, would our phone go out? She didn’t know.

The answer? Yes, if the cable is out the phone is out too and so is our internet.

On a tea related note, my mother (who hated Earl Grey) now drinks Bigelow Earl Grey with milk every morning to help her wake up. I converted her to the Earl Grey side!

Hesper June

Come over to the Grey side…we have tea;)

The interview is over and I think it went well, so I am celebrating by having my last bag of Aged Earl. I am so glad I saved my big mug for this tea so I can get a lot out of my last bag.

I am going to savor this because I don’t know when I will be able to get any more Earl for a while.

There is nothing quite like a big cup of Earl Grey to wash down a Krispy Kreme cream filled chocolate covered doughnut. It has been so long since I have had one! YUM! ♥

Ha! Krispy Kremes must be on the brain lately. See my tea review this morning:)

It is just nearing 11 o’ clock and I am already frazzled this morning. It turns out that the laundry I took out right before I left for the weekend was wet when I came back, so I have to re-wash it and make sure the dryer actually dries it this time.

It also feels like the only people that do dishes in this house is either my mom or me. Dad just got a work-at-home job again. I know he is busy, but he could at least put his own dishes in the dish washer.

I’m just frustrated today. Don’t mind my rant. I do love my parents and I still have some Earl Grey to have as a reward for doing all the dishes this early in the day.

I just finished having a culinary temper tantrum. I got really tired of not having anything in the house to eat, so I found one serving of thick noodles and put together a pasta dish with a very light sauce made of tender cooked onions, parmesean cheese, a dab of butter (which it didn’t really need in hindsight), and two tablespoons of almond milk. So it was like an alfredo sauce, but not a traditional one. It was delicious and a cup of Earl Grey is just what I need to round out the meal.

I think I am on an Earl Grey kick at the moment.

Nothing beats a nice hot cup of Earl Grey. Except maybe an awesome cup of hot cocoa, but I’m trying not have hot cocoa every day. Tea is better for you. Or at least that is what I am sticking to.

I sat down to watch some Star Trek TNG yesterday, so I decided that a cup of Earl Grey was in order. The last time I drank it I think I overbrewed it, but it was perfect this time. Absolutely delicious.

A nice cup of earl grey to chase away the desire for hot cocoa. My last cup of tea I had at my fiancee’s house. It might be my last cup of tea for a little bit because mom and dad are re-modeling the kitchen. I might be able to sneak in some green tea or white tea later tonight if I can get to the hot water kettle safely.

Oh yeah! I agree with that.

I need to start kicking my cocoa habit I have developed recently. I have been drinking up to 3-4 cups of cocoa a day. That is way too much for my liking. I think I might have to find some good chocolate teas and ask for a nice big tin for my upcoming birthday (in a few months so I have time to decide).

Back to watching Star Trek TNG with my mom, indulging in my TARDIS mug, and knitting the final bit on my big blanket.

I’m getting back into my tea habit! Yay. I have missed Numi’s Aged Earl Grey so much. I got used to having earl grey with milk so it was a little harsher than I remembered. Still good though.

Hesper June

I have not even heard of a ‘aged’ earl grey?
How does the flavor compare to a regular EG?

I’ve spent all morning packing the camper for our family vacation to Ohio. I forgot to have breakfast, so sitting down to eat is wonderful. And I get to have more tea.

Numi Aged Earl Grey is my last Earl Grey to round out my Earl Grey-a-Thon. Even after sampling every earl grey in my stash, this one is still my favorite. The assam gives it a maltier flavor and the bergamot is present but not overpowering. It is just really tasty and I love it.

Backlog #5: My TARDIS mug came in on the same day I got hit with a huge Earl Grey craving! I love this mug. It is so geeky and I just adore it! It is bigger than I expected it to be. It takes 1 1/2 fills from my french press to get it all of the way full. And the fact that it comes with a lid to keep your tea warm is just amazing. Everybody should have a mug with a lid.

That’s a really cool mug!

I am totally in love with it. It has been my primary tea mug ever since I got it. The trick is to drink from the corner or else you will spill it all over you though.

This is my first Earl in my Earl Grey Challenge. It is exactly what I need right now. Nice, mellow, and comforting. I didn’t have a chance to get breakfast today because I had an intense online midterm, but I think I did well and now I get to relax for about two seconds before I get to run off to my next class. Just enough time to finish a cup.

Nothing is better than a cup of hot Earl Grey you love when you are sore and want to be soothed. Well, unless you don’t like Earl Grey. Then you should just learn to like it because it is so comforting.

I am finally at home for spring break. It is a little weird being able to sleep in and getting up to an almost empty house. I get no break from the pets, but that’s ok. I missed the cats and dog.

I think I have too many boxes of Earl Grey in the house again, so I am going to drink them up. Hopefully, I drink one up before I leave for school again. But, I’m taking my time with this one. I am always surprised that this is an assam because it isn’t overpowering. Instead, it is lovely and balanced with the bergamont and the maltiness of the tea. I think this one will always be one of my favorite Earl Greys.

I had this for lunch today. I probably should have had it with something else but it was delicious and I’m so glad I found a whole box for myself. It is my favorite so far.

I am thankful that I stole two teabags of this from my boyfriend because one just isn’t enough for me. It is a really nice bold flavor. The bergamot is a little bit lighter than what I am used to, but I think it makes for a slightly better cup. Mostly because it doesn’t make the tea get bitter at the end.

I took a Chinese Breakfast: Certified Organic Yunnan Black Tea tea bag out of the assorted box that my boyfriend had. I love him to death because he lets me steal his tea.

I wasn’t sure if I had brewed it long enough because it brewed to this lovely golden topaz color instead of the deep brown I have been used to with my black teas. But I had brewed it for four minutes and I did remember that different teas brew up to different colors. This was the first time I had had this tea and it was good.

I drank it hot with nothing added.

It tasted light and fresh. It also tasted sweeter than the English Breakfast tea I have been drinking. I really liked that even though it was a black tea, it didn’t taste heavy like I was expecting it to. It was very, very nice and I really wish I had more.

Surprisingly subpar. Tea courtesy of the Red Carpet Club – United Airlines. A bit watery. The vanilla compliments the black based only because none are strong evenly. Overall “Meh”

I’m not particularly impressed by any Numi tea I’ve tried up to this point.

Sweetener and pu-erh don’t mix well for me. It was like a blend of those sweetened Lipton RTD’s and pu-erh.
And for some reason, the bottle cap is really really difficult to get off. Even after it’s been opened.

bleh.

Great look: I LOVE Numi’s drawings and art. Best art in industry.
Very Smooth: This drink is incredibly smooth. I love the sediments. Due to the supply of Mate Factor Fresh Green Yerba Mate as their base. Lemon Mate is always a bit rough to drink without sugar or juice, but very smooth, sometimes a bit stringent if brewed for too long
Very Lemony: As said before if brewed for too long a bit stringent. I love mate, so I enjoy more predominant mate, but I understand Numi’s customer base.
Taste is awesome, kept me warm. I drank this on the first day of cold in Denver, and it did the trick.

I really enjoy Numi, as MateFactor supplies their Mate which makes it very smooth. I don’t know the percentages of Green Tea and Yerba Mate, but maybe cut the Green Tea in half and Double the Mate and it would become a staple for Shade Tree

1 bag for 250mL water, bare.

(backlogging)

I am totally spoilt. Loose leaf forever.

This bagged Gen Mai Cha is a competent version, but it’s lacking something … body, nuance … I feel like I’m being very hard on Numi lately. I used to think much more highly of their bagged teas. Have they gone downhill, or have I gotten pickier?

Pleasant green tea that will get bitter if the water’s too hot. Nice enough toasty rice. But there’s no oomph to this, nothing to make me choose Numi’s Gen Mai Cha over anyone else’s.

Watching tea or tisane steep in my dear old clear glass mug is great pleasure for me. Red rooibos is especially pretty to watch.

The initial scent of Numi’s Red Mellow Bush is that nuttiness some red rooibos has — and sunshine. I mean that exceptionally clean scent of sunshine — laundry dried on a clothesline, conifers in summer, sparkling rocks … that sunshine. No mint and no wood. The taste is a little dull, but i think that’s due to the relatively stingy teabag portion and not the leaves themselves. Rooibos needs a good 5 minutes to start developing its flavour, in my experience. I rarely take my rooibos leaves out of the cup before finishing the tisane.

Like Numi’s Bushmen’s Brew Honeybush, this is very competent. It’s a red rooibos I wouldn’t hesitate to give a first-time sipper. A good example of good rooibos.
