mmmmm Tasty! Full review will come later when i have a chance to drink this straight but as a latte, it’s delicious! I picked up the distinctive version of this, but i think robust would be the way to go. I like my chocolate mint to be strong! This is a pretty delicious :)

Indigobloom

Hmmm. What if you mixed the chocolate and peppermint matcha? I’ll have to bring mine sometime so we can compare :)

Sipdown! Yay!

Finished this up this morning. I’ve really been enjoying the matcha powders unsweetened with almond milk. Super tasty.

(Super tasty in the way that I really like matcha with almond milk, not that all the flavours are amazing. Favourite flavours are still caramel, coconut and french vanilla.)

Thanks, CrowKettle!

I had this one in my smoothie, but it just ended up tasting like banana. Oops.

I have plenty left, I’ll probably have it as an iced latte tomorrow.

Backlog:

White chocolate is not a favorite chocolate of mine … I’d prefer dark chocolate or even milk chocolate to white chocolate, but, I thought that white chocolate would make an interesting flavor profile to the creaminess of Matcha … as well as offer some interesting blending options with some of the other flavors that I have from Red Leaf Tea.

But it’s actually quite tasty on it’s own. I like this as a latte. Sweet and rich and creamy and decadent … this bowl of White Chocolate Matcha Latte disappeared in no time flat.

I didn’t taste that odd chemical taste that sometimes accompanies the flavored Matcha … perhaps it was the latte that helped disguise the flavor or perhaps the white chocolate flavoring just doesn’t have that same artificial taste as some of the other flavorings do. I liked this one.

I am currently having a Matcha smoothie. I was out of yogurt, so there’s no yogurt in this, instead, it’s made with the freshly squeezed juice of one orange, a bunch of strawberries, a banana and this White Chocolate Matcha.

And it’s yummy! The white chocolate and strawberries come through the strongest … and at the end I taste the little bit of orange. The banana is overwhelmed by it all, but that’s OK. I’m enjoying my mid-day snack!

I’ll rate this Matcha later (at some point!) when I post the link to my full-length review of it.

I had some of this kicking around from months ago when Stephanie sent some to me in a swap. I’ve done a tasting note on it, but I had it as a cold latte before. Yesterday (maybe the day before) Stephanie had a delicious sounding tasting note for a hot latte, and so I dug this out and that’s exactly what I did.

Delicious! I really need to order some of this and the Coconut flavour for my cupboard.

Delicious! Wow. It must be the sugar and caramel. This could satisfy a sweet craving in one sip.

I followed the directions for 1 tbsp. of matcha, 1 cups of milk, and a few ice cubes blended. Amazing! I may have to order this. And the Coconut MATHCAccino, since I adore coconut.

Thanks Stephanie!

Stephanie

The coconut version is fan friggun tastic! I’m serious, you should buy some if you loved the caramel!!! Sooooo gooooood.

Courtney

Awesome! Yeah I loved it. I basically inhaled it.

Another tea from my Momo box. My whole family loved this! In the words of my grandmother: “This is better than coffee!” lol! I ended up making six almond milk lattes with this matcha because everyone in the family liked the smell of it. I’m glad they enjoyed it because there was something about it that I didn’t like.

The matcha was darker and you could tell it was finer than the matcha I had from Joy’s Teaspoon this morning. At first it didn’t seem to dissolve better than the Izu Matcha (and I had even strained it to make sure there would be no clumps), but then it just seemed to melt into the hot water when I started whisking. Very nice!

The matcha definitely smells of caramel, but there is a popcorn scent too. It reminded me of popcorn jellybeans, which I liked for a little while as a child but now I can’t stand one bit. That’s probably what turned me off of it. The taste was exactly like the smell. I really think I could have enjoyed this if it was just a caramel matcha, but the popcorn jellybean taste really was a miss for me. The smoothness of the powder itself when whisked into the drink however make me sure that I would like to try some other Redleaf matchas in the future, so I’m glad I got to taste it!

CHAroma

I bet a pure popcorn matcha was be really yummy!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

It probably would be!

CHAroma

LOL! And by “was be” I meant “would be.”

Fuzzy_Peachkin

lol! That’s ok… I tend to make mistakes like that when I type things on my phone.

CHAroma

I’m not even on a phone, so I really have no excuse. LOL! Just too lazy to proofread. :P

This was really good. At first, I was smelling something flowery and was worried something was wrong. But upon mixing well, the chocolate cookie and cream was yummy. It was even better having it mixed in with sugar and milk. I took it iced like that to work a couple times. A nice treat for long, tired days and a good pick me up :)

This was yummy!! but not quite what I was expecting. Almost, though. I need to try it as a hot latte. This time, I used milk, ice, and matcha in a blender. And then, because I’m not used to my “smoothies” have such a thin consistency, I threw in half a banana.
Not sure whether I added too much milk or not enough ice. Next time I’ll have to be more careful in measuring, as I was distracted by company. My neighbour’s sump pump burst and flooded their basement and part of the main level (talk about stinky), which means she’s been spending a lot of time at our place today/last night. Which is great, I love her! but it also means I’ve got next to no work done haha
and also why I haven’t gotten to my samples yet! well, I did try one but need to do them all side by side after having them individually.
Bah. I gotta go. Amazing weather out there!!

Fjellrev

Floods always have me worried. That is terrible! I hope they get that taken care of soon.

Cavocorax

The banana is a great idea! I used one in mine and it vastly improved the flavour/consistency, but then again I do like bananas.

Indigobloom

Oh yah, they have excellent insurance and already had workers there today taking care of it! but this is a long weekend coming up… so now that they’ve done the “triage” so to speak, nothing more will happen til next week. Not that it matters, since the damage is now contained! and it’s been sanitized heh

Indigobloom

Oh phew!! I am SO glad I’m not the only one who did that. Seriously, I almost left that part out of my review! oh and we only had bananas that were a little green, whereas for a smoothie (and only a smoothie, or maybe banana bread), I prefer slightly overripe ones.
No matter, I’m really looking forward to a summer of matchaccinos!!! :P

Lala

How does this matchaccino compare to the regular flavoured matcha?

Indigobloom

Lala, Hmmm I’d have to say they are different experiences. I found it slightly similar in flavour to the caramel matcha, made as a latte. However it was a lot more sugary! not overly so, for me.

Indigobloom

now that I’ve compared the caramel vs caramel matchaccino, I’d have to say the caramel is much sweeter, with less of a cocoa/coffee note. Both are great!

Lala

Thanks, that’s good to know.

I haven’t been logging this one, but I have been having it in my breakfast smoothie a couple of times a week for a few weeks now, although I have used the French Vanilla once or twice, too.

My smoothie consists of one banana, three strawberries, a splash of my homemade kefir or a spoonful of homemade Viili, ice, and matcha. Whoosh in a blender and enjoy something that tastes too good to be good for you.

My friend gave me almost 60 grams of this because she didn’t like it. She said it was too perfume-y for her, and what she was getting was a chemical taste from the flavoring. I tried it and didn’t care for it myself for the same reason, but we can always try to rescue tea, right?

I figured the robust flavor level was just too much for this particular flavor, so I mixed it half and half with plain matcha for a latte today. It was very, VERY much improved. I actually could do with still a little bit less of the flavored and a little more of the unflavored. I am going to mix up a glass for my friend next time I see her and offer to mix the white chocolate with my plain and split it if she likes it.

When I first started ordering from Red Leaf, I had never had matcha and ordered robust flavor level out of fear of the matcha. But now I love the taste of good matcha, and I love it unflavored, so when I do buy flavored from now on they will ALL be delicate to distinctive flavor level and I will upgrade the base because it really is very nice! I think this is a nice save of 60 grams of matcha!

Fjellrev

Ah, it was worth a shot at least! I think I had this in robust and luckily didn’t find it too chemical, but I do find robust macadamia on the chemical side, so go figure.

ashmanra

I love my robust almond flavor, but I think next time I order it even that one will go down a notch in flavor level. Caramel is good even in robust, but the MATCHAccino one is distinctive I think, and that is plenty of flavor. It is really good.

A friend gave this to me because she felt it was perfume-y and she didn’t care for it. I am going to have to concur. It wasn’t undrinkable, but it wasn’t a favorite. I suppose there is white chocolate flavor here but there is also a chemical taste that is the basis for my friend’s description. I am probably going to rehome this since I have a lot of matcha I love and don’t want to be wasteful and have this hanging around forever.

Right, so. I have the coconut flavour. I mixed 1 scoop with 1 cup almond milk, 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 cup frozen pineapple.

This is divine. The colour is still somewhat a horrible murky green, but the flavour and texture is the best so far. Especially in my tiny, cheap blender.

ashmanra

So you used coconut or caramel? I have caramel but I am really interested in the coconut!

OMGsrsly

I have the Coconut flavour, distinctive I think? The coconut flavour isn’t on here, and I didn’t want to make it. :)

Again, Coconut flavour, Distinctive level.

Today’s smoothie is DELICIOUS! 10g mix, 200ml “milk”, 1/2 frozen banana, 4 ice cubes. Perfection. There is so much flavour in this I’d definitely go with less flavour and more matcha if I ordered this again. When I order it again. Mmm.

ashmanra

This is my next must order. I was considering getting one grade up on the matcha and just getting distinctive instead of robust this time on the flavor level. This settles it! I will be ordering regular rather than MATCHAccino, though.

OMGsrsly

Yes. This one is distinctive and it’s still almost too much for me! Definitely get better matcha, I think it’s more worthwhile. :)

ashmanra

I did upgrade with the Bilberry matcha and I don’t regret it one bit. It is such a bright, fresh green! I only got distinctive level flavoring with that one, and it is plenty.

So I have a pound of this. I got sucked into the free shipping.

Coconut flavour, distinctive level of flavouring.

SO. GOOD. Yes, it’s sweet, but it’s not too sweet. A little sweeter than an unsweetened (ie: no syrup) green tea latte at Sbux, but some of that might be the coconut flavour, as I found the flavour quite sweet even in the plain matcha.

Distinctive is enough. Next time I might even just go for the base flavour level! This tastes like delicious coconut baked goods. Yum. This will be an excellent alternative to plain matcha in my morning smoothies, and it’ll be even smoother (I have a cheap blender) with the addition of 1/4 banana. OMG, this might be amazing with rum. And banana. And maybe a squeeze of lime. Uh oh!

I weighed 15g, as the scoop was quite compacted and I wanted to be sure I wasn’t using too much. 200ml soy milk, 4 large ice cubes. If I was making a shaken drink instead of a blended one, I’d use more milk or less powder.

Sil

nice! glad you’re enjoying them

OMGsrsly

Having a blender at home to easily make cold drinks makes me want ALL THE MATCHA! Pretty dangerous!

Lilysmom

I have never tried matcha ( and am not drawn to trying it ….those green bubbles….tasty? …..I don’t know….) but I so want to find a good caramel tea……this one sounds……super dee-lish…….

Sil

lilysmom – if you like black tea try the caramel assam from butiki. you might find it to be your sweet spot. If you prefer green teas, try the caramel cream from purearoma.

Kittenna

A pound?!

OMGsrsly

Kittenna, yes. A pound. 16 oz. 30 servings. Muahahahaha. Considering I’ve had matcha every morning for the last two weeks, this will go pretty quickly…

Lilysmom, if you’re not drawn to matcha, I wouldn’t bother. Definitely save your pennies for a Butiki order. Just my portion of the group order is ~$100. Umm.

ashmanra

Don’t be alarmed, Kittenna! It is the kind with sugar already added, so it is only thirty servings! :)

Cavocorax

I grabbed the caramel. I had some today but it was still a bit powdery – I guess I didn’t blend it enough, even though I still enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to trying it again tomorrow!

OMGsrsly

I blend quite a bit because I like to add a little banana, and ice, and my blender is super cheap. :)

drank Fig Matcha by Matcha Outlet
775 tasting notes

This will be my caffeinated treat before work today I’ve decided.

I’ve never actually had figs that I know off, save for Fig Newton cookies hah.

I’m not sure what to make of this one after a few sips. It’s certainly very flavourful, but I don’t think the flavour is necessarily for me. Although, I could see it possibly growing on me.

Thanks Jackie T for sharing!

GUESS WHAT YOU GUYS! Today is my one year Steepsterversary!!! During my first year I wrote 537 tasting notes, got 115 followers, and currently have 58 teas in my online cupboard. I probably have closer to 100 in my real life cupboard, because I never add small samples or small swaps to my online cupboard. I’ve had so much fun and met so many nice fellow tea lovers this past year! It is great to be here! :D

Anyway, I started my day today with an avocado/white matcha shake. One of my faves! I will bust out some other old favorites to celebrate throughout the day, hehe :)

I had another avocado smoothie for breakfast with 1/2 tsp of this. Breakfast of champions? :)

I made myself a treat for breakfast this morning! 1/2 tsp of this with a small handful of ice, half an avocado, a cup of milk and 2 tsp sugar in the blender. SO GOOD! The white tea flavor goes really well with avocado :)

BrewTEAlly Sweet

Wow never would have thought. I can’t wait to try my sample from you:):)

Stephanie

Have you ever had an avocado shake? My husband taught me to make them. He learned about them in Brazil I think. Sometimes adds a drop of rosewater! They’re super tasty even without the matcha :)

Fjellrev

Interesting combination! I’ve never had avocado in a shake either.

BrewTEAlly Sweet

Never! Rose water??? Love it!!! I just never know where to buy it

Stephanie

Asian food store or international market!
