MMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm Happiness in a cup. Thank you Hallieod for sending me a sample of this.
I’m not good at this tasting note thing. I write them more as a reminder to me what I thought, then to explain to anyone else. In my world this is a cross between apple cider, apple pie, and something autumn/harvest that I can’t quite put my taste buds on (apple butterish). Normally I would have thought I would prefer a little tart in an apple tea. This isn’t tart, it’s sweet in almost a pastry sort of way – but not really. Maybe it more tastes like a bakery smells.
I’m at a loss for words, other than this is awesome.
One of my last few samples from Shmiracles
The leaves smell like fruity and alcoholic. Not a winning scent for me. But the tea tastes quite different than it smells. I can’t figure out how to describe it accurately. The best I can come up with is spices, possibly clove among them. But not spicy like a chai, it’s more delicate than that. The alcoholic scent that I detected before lingers slightly in the flavor. The rest I cannot describe. I can’t say that I am a fan, but is an intriguing flavor nonetheless.
Preparation
Sipdown, 155. Cold brew.
I actually have a little bit of this left, but I have no desire to drink the rest of it and it’s not really enough to swap. Cold brewed, this tea was overly perfumy and just really not my thing. Very very floral, and I like floral teas, but this was too much. Also I am spoiled by Den’s Sakura Sencha, which is better balanced and not quite as overly flavored as this one.
Preparation
Sipdown (230) gotta love working from home days. I don’t think I’ll have any other sip downs today…or maybe just one heh but I’m well on my way to getting to 225 by the end of this weekend. I have 80 teas to sip down by November (not including new teas that are on their way to my house) so likely I have to try and get 8-10 teas a week to stay on track to get to 150 by November 1st heh not sure if that’s doable but if I can get a day a week at home, it might be possible.
This tea is great with a splash of sweetener and even a bit of milk. Makes me wonder how delicious it could be as a latte :)
love. this. tea. Thank you kittylovestea for this one! I have to do a side by side with the caramel toffee tea from damman that shmiracles sent me but i think this one comes out on top. Really loved the creamy caramely/toffee taste this morning a whoooollle bunch! mmmmm so glad i have a little more of it than your average small swap ;)
This is absolutely amazing! This is one of the best ‘minty’ greens I have ever had! I like this both hot and cold even tho it was designed to be a ICED tea. From their new line of Iced Teas…this is wonderful! Les Plaisirs Purs! YUMMERS!!!! I’ll be sharing the rest of this with Liberteas and Azzrian and I hope the enjoy it, too!
aka “tea of dreams”
i guess i didn’t know this was lower in caffiene, and now i’m super glad to hear it. cuz i had 4 cups of tea today already and i’m about to have 2 more.
i made this in my timolino to take to the movies. me and a friend went to go see “Inherit the Wind” which is about Darwinism vs the Bible Belt and stars Spencer Tracy and Gene Kelly and the guy who plays Darren on the original Bewitched. the movie was very fun and full of zingers. i was definitely entertained. also sometimes it’s sad how some arguments from fundamentalists never change.
this is another tea that i bought while in Paris and my sinuses were infected and i couldn’t smell anything and i would ask my boyfriend to describe the smell. so we did our best. the tea is flowery and fruity and the smell is strong to me but the flavor is mellow. and i love it way more than i thought i would. which is even awesomer since i have more of this tea than any other right now. yay!
now i am home, have re-organized my room a bit, and am drinking 221B Tea as i watch the new ‘Elementary’ episode and next i’ll watch the past 2 weeks of new Doctor Who while i drink the ‘Weeping Angel’ tea i just brewed. i’m gonna end this weekend on a high note.
Thank you NofarS for this sample.
My first cold steeped jasmine tea. I usually brew my jasmine tea hot and leave it to cool anyway as to my preferable taste. This was left to cold steep for roughly 4 hours.
This has a thick and sweet jasmine fragrance that’s so strong it smells like jasmine perfume. I sell jasmine perfume made from essential oil at work and this is exactly the same, uncanny.
The flavour is as thick as the smell and I’m glad that I didn’t leave it to steep overnight. It edges on being too strong and perfumey with a little bitterness but it quickly subsides. It’s nice to have a jasmine tea with some punch to it. There is also a grassy taste amidst the jasmine.
Glad I cold steeped this, it’s fresher than I thought it would be. I have enjoyed cold steeping so much over this weekend that when I return home tomorrow the first thing I’m going to do is buy a couple of these funky sealed large mugs so I can make them whenever I please.
I couldn’t see this on the Le Palais Des Thes website any more. :(
Preparation
my very first swap sample received from Dinosara!
i really like this simple tea. the green tea is vegetal and fresh and the vanilla is low key and cheery. i know it’s not blow-your-mind delicious or anything, but i’m very glad i got a chance to try it and that i have a good 3 more cups worth.
i just finished watching Bridesmaids. i’m glad i watched it. also if you haven’t heard Adam Scott on the podcast Doug Loves Movies do yourself the favor cuz then you’ll love him even more.
I’m going through some of these LPDT samples that I’ve had for a while but never tried so I can decide which ones I will drink the rest of and which ones I will swap and/or put in the TTB (if it ever comes).
They recommend steeping this one for 5–7 minutes. I can’t imagine! I did not follow that, though I did use their recommended temp. The resulting tea tastes kind of… odd. I can’t really parse it, and I think it’s the fruity floral flavors combined with the dark, roasted oolong. These are not things that go together in my mind, and I wanted this to be a green oolong. I also can’t for the life of me figure out which fruit and flowers are supposed to be in here. It is very confusing. The base is actually not too roasty and pretty nutty, so I feel like it would have been a great candidate for a chocolate/nut based tea. But no, fruity florals. Once I got partway through it started growing on me a bit, so it ended up being a drinkable tea, but definitely not one I would seek out again. Such has been my experience with LPDT… nothing quite amazing, but a lot of decent teas.
Preparation
Sipdown, 169. Again, sending the rest of this one off in a swap!
So a while ago I had a weird time with some flavored green teas where they gave me an odd savory note. I discovered that it was my kettle that needed cleaning, but I think that was not the whole story. I think there is something about flavored senchas lately that are not sitting quite right with my taste buds. It’s been a while since my incident (and I had a cup of bilochun earlier that was fine), so I know the savory note I’m getting from this one is inherant. Of course, it is a super super mild note compared to my last experience, but it’s still there. I think I am starting to become not a fan of the base of most flavored senchas. Hmm. Anyway, the vanilla on this was light and creamy and pretty nice, it’s just the tea base I don’t find so awesome. I was never that excited by a green vanilla tea, though, so I am happy to send the rest of this one off to another home.
Preparation
alright let’s see if steepster is going to cooperate and let me backlog. Sipdown on this one and thanks again to ysaurella for the lovely swap. I quiet enjoy this one, though maybe not as much as some of the others that were shared with me. the cinnamon, ginger and vanilla play very nicely together.
I can’t quite figure out what’s wrong with this tea, but there is something very wrong with it for me. It’s kind of flat, and I’d waver between diagnosing it as stale (except it’s a new packet), or that it contains badly mixed, cheap synthetic flavours (except that I was assured that PdT uses no artificial flavours). It’s not anything that makes me want to behave like Tom Hanks in BIG, on tasting caviare, but I’m not going to be eager to drink it either, though that mix should be a winner for me. Luckily, younger daughter likes it, so we’ll probably get through the packet easily enough, without my having to drink it.
Preparation
I think it’s probably the worst I’ve bought from there, as smelling (and tasting whatever’s been brewed that day) has saved me from a few. But the only thing of theirs that really wowed me was the waaaaay expensive white I told you about. Wish we had some of the other fancy French tea sellers here instead!
I’ve never had any teas from PdT which I found incredible. Their rooibos, especially, are all quite average, like there was something missing in there. The only one I might rebuy is Rooibos des Vahines, with vanilla and almond.
I fully agree with cteresa and LaFleurBleue, Palais des Thés is not the best brand to my opinion neither- the 2 only exceptions for my taste are Thé du Hammamm and Thé du Hammamm black leaf. Now, to be fair (as I should be fair too with Kusmi teas) the vast majority of their blends are really decent, but the point is they are in competition with other more exceptional brands.
I like your M-enhanced spelling. :) Don’t think I’ve tried the Hammam yet, so I’ll keep an eye out for a taster. I quite like the Gout Russe 7 Agrumes, but that’s a seriously essential oil heavy tea, and it’s better using only about a third or a quarter of it to an unflavoured black.
I’m starting to take it personally that in Dublin we only have Palais des Thés and not those more exceptional brands. :P
4g / 300ml in ceramic pot.
Single infusion 5m @ 90C
This is by far my favorite breakfast tea. :)
The taste is just wonderful, like a Shu puer but with a perfect mix of powerful astringancy and sweet ripe fruit. Today i taste peach. ^^
Wont ever wat to run out of this!

:D well we have a really nice teashop. https://www.facebook.com/Tekultur. got plenty of nice tea.
Looks like an awesome teashop! Even though I don’t speak Swedish (except when I’m using Google translate, haha), I love that I can go on any tea site of any language, & figure out what’s what, more or less :)
6g / 400ml ceramic pot, water from Kunzan tetsubin.
One infusion: 4m @ 90C
Ah this is my favorite breakfast tea. It manages a powerful cup of ripe fruit with the perfect balance of astringancy. Slightly sweet aftertaste. Jummy!
Preparation
6g / 400ml Ceramic pot.

Usually i drink this as a breakfast tea. It is very powerful. But a bit tired today so i thought it might give me a boost. :)
This is the only lowland sri-lankan tea i´ve tried so really have nothing to compare to. The color is that of reddish gold. Smells of ripe peach. first taste is a mix of herbs and ripe fruit. Kinda along the same lines as ripe puerh. The fruit quickly turns to strong astringancy and a tingle of bitterness. It leaves a dry sensation on the palate. The flavours is very well balanced. Good tea!
Perhaps it could handle a splash of milk?
