911 Tasting Notes
I’m mixed on this tea. I like the taste and the spiciness to it (the cloves) but it makes me think of potpourri. And I’m pretty sure I’ve been in a bathroom that had this exact potpourri in a basket on top of the toilet tank.
So on one hand – spicy Christmas in a cup. On the other – toilet tank.
It’s like baking in a cup. Part of me now wants to make cookies, part of me feels like I already have. Not that I have made cookies that taste exactly like this (I am a chocolate chip girl so I don’t think I’ve made cookies with cinnamon before) but still. Cookies!
After a horrible night’s sleep, I needed something to really wake me up. I figured this might do it. I brewed it for 4mins and added some milk and sugar. It certainly did the job of waking me up so definite plus. On my first sip, I thought the taste was just okay, but after that, I started to (oddly) get hints of cinnamon or some sort of spice. Good stuff.
When I started drinking tea I was quickly cursing myself for all of the coffee “wake-ups” I put myself through. It’s the difference between a gentle caress and being simultaneously shaken and prodded with a pointy stick, you know? So much more comforting. And without the plummeting energy level.
This tea sounds lovely. I’m all about cinnamon-y flavors now that fall is arriving.
I fully get that. Tea gives me a quicker ramp up to wakefulness whereas coffee always slingshotted me into it, complete with crash landing.
Honestly, I’m not sure if the tea is SUPPOSED to taste of cinnamon. But when I mentioned it, hubby agreed so if I am insane, at least the insanity is contagious.
Hate the name. But the tea is actually pretty good. I did add a little sugar and cream but it is smooth, sweet, not overly tart (which the Valentines can be for me). Chocolaty and fruity but neither flavor is overwhelming (probably due to the cream and mambo). Tastes good. Still hate the name.
The strawberry is the strongest flavor and overwhelms the other flavors with tartness. Adding a bit of sugar tamed the tart but I still don’t really taste any of the other flavors. It just seems like a weak brew of strawberry. (I brewed for just under 3mins as the description stated). That being said, for anyone that actually enjoys herbals, this might not be too bad.
ETA: As it cools, I’m getting more of what might be the raspberry green after the initial strawberry taste.
Really good! I was a bit worried because I usually find anything with hibiscus too tart, but this wasn’t. A tiny bit of cinnamon/ginger (from the Oriental Spice), not overwhelmingly fruity. Has a good balance of flavor.
It is! I got a sample of it when the TeaChat Signature Blend box pass was going around. If it is still available (the blend, not the box pass) it should be in Adagio’s custom blend section…. Yes, in fact it is! http://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/blend.html?blend=5938&sid=537eeac55c99177bc2f9ae4dc4d8aa67&scrollTop=0

See, when you say things like “toilet tank” and Christmas, and my brain is still prone to wandering like it does before noon [or all day, actually], it goes to places like Santa Claus urinating. And if he were to exist, would he use other people’s bathrooms along the way? Or…pee off the side of the sled?
But the Holidays are my second favorite part of the year [after fall], so I would probably like this one. Santa peeing associations aside.
I did the same thing (potpourri) with a Stash Christmas blend I didn’t like … but in a simmer pot and tea candle in the living room.
Toilet tank = Not something you necessarily want to associate with tea! XD
It’s the smell that I really associate with a toilet tank. And that doesn’t make it sound any better….
Thankfully, the actual taste has no toilet connotations to it. Though it does make me want to make a clove orange.
And now I’m seriously contemplating Santa’s bathroom habits on Christmas. After all, he eats a lot of milk and cookies. The guy’s gotta make a pit stop somewhere.
