911 Tasting Notes
First off, I should have checked the ingredients before having this – I need caffeine in the morning so the fact that this is decaf makes me sad. Second, I couldn’t get behind the taste of this at all. It seemed like there was too much going on in the cup – the flavors didn’t blend well. Not my cuppa.
This smells sourly smoky. I was a little afraid to drink it. But while it tastes a bit smoky, it isn’t near as strong as the smell. I did add sugar and I think that helped the bitter smoky become just normal smoky. As it cools a bit the mint taste comes out. Not ever going to be a favorite, but not the punishment I was expecting based on the smell.
The strawberry is a bit overpowering. I can taste a little of the green tea in it but barely a hint. I want to taste more of the green and have it be less of a strawberry tea that it is. I want the whole tea to taste like the aftertaste does, which is a nice light strawberry-flavored, instead of the tart taste of just strawberries, which is how everything but the aftertaste tastes.
