193 Tasting Notes
This was another sample from the travelling tea box. I really like jasmine teas, but to me they are all generally the same. I haven’t had a bad one yet. The only thing that can make it bad for me is a vegetal green tea base and luckily this one was not so. The green tea base is not too strong, and the jasmine flavour is quite prominent. I disagree with the reviews that say the jasmine flavour is subtle. Thanks Calla for throwing this in the box!
This tea sounded so good, but I didn’t order this with my last Butiki order because I am not the biggest green tea fan. If it is vegetal at all, I don’t want it, and I haven’t had the best luck with Butiki green teas. So I asked for a sample of this instead so I could try it.
I am IMPRESSED. I am thinking Stacey was running out of this as my sample was tiny and she gave me almond indulgence as a third sample. I only made about a half cup which I think might have been too much water because it is quite weak but I am still getting all of the flavours. Strawberry is the main flavour and it is very candy like, but I am also getting a hint of ginger. The green tea doesn’t seem to be vegetal at all and I’m hoping that’s not because of how weak this is. Either way, I will be ordering this with my next Butiki order.
I ordered this becuase I really like the cotton candy white tea, but I prefer black bases so I thought this would be even better. While this is delcious, I think I prefer the white base, it suits the flavour better. Again, the cotton candy flavour is very subtle and needs quite a bit of sweetener to coax it out. i would like the flavour to be a little stronger, but still an awesome tea.
I was hoping this would taste the same as the SBT version and it does. I get the custard and strawberries, but no wine like it says in the description, but that’s ok, I wasn’t expecting or even wanting this tea to taste like wine. I think I might prefer this iced, but it is still very delicious hot!
For the most part with cakey teas, I find that most people taste what they are supposed to taste in the tea, but I on the other hand don’t taste what I should be tasting. I usually taste only one element of it, and it’s usually the cake part that suffers. But not this tea, I taste the maple syrup AND the pancakes! The flavour of this is spot on and the strength of the flavour is perfect. This is my favourite 52 teas so far!
I tried this as it was included in the travelling tea box I have in my possession and I’ve noticed in the past that it had decent reviews. I did not like this tea, so much so that I had to throw it out. I found the flavour to be very weak so I threw in another tea bag, big mistake! I didn’t know what the ingredients were but could tell immediately after the first sip there was stevia in it, and a lot of it. It was so sweet! The main flavours I got were strawberry and chocolate, but there was also a herbal flavour that left an awful taste in my mouth.
Oh my god, tea overload! Between trying to sample everything from the travelling tea box and trying to sample everything from the 2 new orders I recently received so that I can see what I want to add to the tea box, I am getting tea’d out! I had this tea last night before I went to bed, and it was a pretty good chocolate mint tea. The chocolate didn’t come out as much as I would like, but that might have been my fault becuase the water was not hot enough, there was still whole chocolate chips left in my steeper after I poured it. I like that is it herbal as most of the chocolate mint teas I’ve had are black or rooibos based. I am always looking for a good herbal and this one will work nicely. I will have to try it a few more times before I decide if I would re-order.
This is the second Butiki rooibos I’ve tried and I found they both lacked flavour. When I opened the bag, I couldn’t smell any mango. I was hoping it would come out in the flavour, but all I could taste was the rooibos. I couldn’t even detect a hint of mango, but I honestly think I am an extreme “non-taster”, so maybe someone else can get more out of this tea than I can.
