714 Tasting Notes
Amount: 3 teaspoons
Additives: 2 teaspoons german rock sugar
Water: 1 teapot, boiling filtered water about 180
Steep Time: a little over 6 minutes
Served: Hot
Notes: adding creme overpowered the flavors, MilitiaJim did not find it beneficial. It was improved by the sugar in my opinion enough to bump it form a 1 to a 2 of 3.
Smell: sweet, coco
Flavor: smooth, chocolaty almond
Body: medium
Aftertaste: sweet coco
Liquor: dark brown
Preparation
Amount: 1 teabag
Additives: none, wild huckleberry honey
Water: 1 mug (12 ounces) filtered boiling water
Steep Time: a little over 5 minutes
Served: Hot
Notes: Soothing tea, lovely without additives, great for calming down before bed.
Smell: floral, minty, not a very strong odor
Flavor: sweet (unsweetened) floral, not much changed with honey, MilitiaJim was surprised by the mint flavor (he doesn’t like mint), the citrus flavor was evident
Body: medium
Aftertaste: vegetal
Liquor: nearly see through yellow-brown
Preparation
Amount: 3 teaspoons
Additives: none
Water: 170 degrees, 1 teapot full, filtered water
Steep Time: a little over 1-2 minutes
Served: Hot
Notes: Adding german rock sugar, 1 scoop, brought of floral flavors and smoothed the grassy flavor. 2 minutes seems the better time, although the package suggests 3 and we will have to try that next time. Speaking of the packaging the round Mighty Leaf tin should be avoided, I found it hard to grab without having the top decorative cover come off (not the actual lid keeping the leaves in), as you must grab the bottom to avoid this. Also the metal fitted top lid that keeps the tea leaves in was hard for me to open without spilling leaves. I recommend this tea as it was a great green tea, however don’t get the decorative Mighty Leaf round tin.
Smell: floral, Aloe, and sweet vegetation
Flavor: soft green tea, a bit grassier on the 2 min brew
Body: light
Aftertaste: none
Liquor: mostly clear with a hint of green cloudy as it brewed longer
Preparation
Amount: 3 teaspoons
Additives: none
Water: filtered, boiling, 1 teapot full
Steep Time: a little over 4 minutes
Served: Hot
Notes: Adding sugar brought out the maple sweetness more, we both liked it sweetened better. Next we tried adding creme, creme smoothed out the flavors and got rid of the bitter aftertaste. We both won’t buy it again, but we don’t mind having it, or getting it for free.
Smell: Maple, smoke with a subtle hint of bacon
Flavor: Smoked maple tea
Body: Full
Aftertaste: Bitter
Liquor: See through dark brownish orange
Preparation

Additives: white sugar, powdered non-dairy creamer
Water: hot water spigot
Steep Time: none, flavia machine

Notes: My personal preference with black teas is to add a bit of sweetener and creme to smooth the flavor out. I find this a very drinkable tea for work, mainly because it is easy and free.

Smell: raspberry, lemon
Flavor: lemon, raspberry
Body: full
Aftertaste: apple, sweet
Amount: 2 teabags
Additives: none / none / 2 packets of white sugar / 4 packets of white sugar
Water: 20 ounces / 16 ounces second steep both with hot spigot water
Steep Time: over 5 minutes (walking back from Starbucks), then 2 minutes on the second steep
Served: Hot
Notes: I had limited ability to pull the bags while walking back from Starbucks to work, so the first infusion was too strong and bitter. The second infusion ended up a little weak. Watch the brew time on this carefully it seems to turn bitter very fast. The first over-brewed cup was not salvageable even after trying to add milk and sugar. The second batch after 2 packets of sugar there was a hint of sweet and the flavor was smoother and less sharply bitter, 4 packets worked great, 3 probably would have done. I’ve always preferred my earl grey with sugar and milk. I did not try adding milk to the second infusion as it was already weak. The leaves stood up very well to the second infusion.
Smell: Black tea, citrus
