This is a good one. There’s lots of malt, bread, chocolate and smoky notes, and they’re all very well balanced. It’s not a heavy tea, but it’s a full tea – if that makes any sense. I like the amount of smoke in this tea as it enhances the other notes in a really nice way. To be honest, everything about his tea is really nice. It’s just super tasty, and it’s going on my wishlist.

The first thing I noticed was how incredibly well sealed the Nannoshan sample packages are. I had to pull out my heavy duty scissors to cut through the packaging. Once I did get the sample open I could smell a nutty/vegetal scent from the leaves. I also noticed that the dry leaves were long and a beautiful bright green.

Once steeped the flavor was not as strong as I was expecting given the smell of the dry leaves. Instead there was a soft nutty flavor and a light sweetness. There was also a bit of a mineral note at the finish. The tea tasted clean and very fresh. Even though the flavor was soft it had a brightness to it as well that I really like in high quality Long Jing.

I kept wanting to say there’s a floral note in this tea, but there’s not. The natural sweetness of the tea along with the over all softness of the cup gives the impression of something floral-like. Overall, a very nice cup.

Tea of the morning. I felt like it had been a long time since I’d last had this one, but apparently it’s only been a few weeks. That just reinforces how much I love this tea. Not having it in my cup for almost is month is way too long. To make up for the time we spent apart I’ve already had three cups of this lovely today. I love the baked bread and molasses notes as well as the salted caramel note at the end of the sip. The resteep was a bit more malty and earthy, but the other flavors continued to be present as well. Really, really enjoyable.

This is just a cup of yum.

My life has been crazy hectic (in the best possible way) lately. Even though things are good I’m still feeling a bit frazzled just because I’m so busy. As a remedy, I was determined to carve out a little time for myself tonight to relax, read some of my favorite blogs, and drink some comforting tea. Since I love me some vanilla I made a big mug of this and am enjoying each and every sip. It’s a cup of vanilla deliciousness. Oh yeah, this is exactly what I’ve been wanting.

After reading a brief description of the teas from a card Gabriele included in my samples box I thought this sounded like a nice late morning tea. The dry leaves are thin and wiry and smell like dry hay with a slight cocoa note underneath. The tea steeped to a much lighter color than I was expecting given the four minute steep time, but the results were lovely. There was a nice toasted grain flavor with hints of cocoa slipping in and out as I drank. As the tea cools there was more of a bready note at the front of the sip, which was nice in combination with the other flavors. Even with its lighter color I’d say this is a solid medium bodied tea, and I enjoyed having it in the late morning, but I also think it would be great as an afternoon tea.

For the past few days I’ve taken a break from tea because nothing was tasting right. I even drank several cups of coffee, and I haven’t touched my coffee maker in months and months! Today I was missing my morning tea ritual, so I thought I’d give this tea a chance. (From reading this you’d think I’d stopped drinking tea for months instead of less than a week. I may be addicted, but I’m ok with that.)

This was exactly what I was hoping it would be. It was lovely and full bodied with baked bread and chocolate noted. Absolutely delicious! I’ve already resteeped it once, and I’ll probably get one more steep out of it before the morning is over.

Happy sigh…

I made a cup of this to have while playing cards with my kids tonight. I am a big, big fan of the whipped cream flavor of this tea. I added sugar and cream and thoroughly enjoyed this as a dessert tea. It was also my consolation prize since I lost at UNO – much to my children’s delight.

I made a pot of this earlier today. This continues to be one of my favorite vanilla mint teas. I’m not sure what mint DT uses, but it’s a good one. The flavor is very soft and smooth, and it compliments the vanilla in every way. Great afternoon tea.

Tea of the morning. I live in central New Jersey, so I woke up expecting #Blizzard2015 to be outside my door. We received maybe two inches of snow. Two inches. That said, if you live in New England be safe! The storm does look nasty.

The powers that be had already cancelled school, so the kids and I enjoyed a long leisurely breakfast while we planned out our day and laughed at the weathermen. I made a big pot of this tea, and everyone enjoyed it. Even my son, who is not a hot tea drinker, had a cup. It was deliciously malty and thick today with nice fruity note.

Looks like we might head over to the arcade for a while. It won’t be packed and absolutely insane with all of the schools being closed and next to no snow on the ground. Right? Oy. :)
