429 Tasting Notes
Yeah, I cut open the pyramid tea bag and steeped this tea the normal way. Its such a rich and flavorful tea. The box reads organic China black teas so I’m assuming there is quite a bit of Keemun tea in it. It has a similar taste to Harney and Sons English Breakfast. I steeped about 16 ounces of tea in a mug and its really very good. The box has 1.6 ounces of tea in only 15 tea bags so I’m tempted to open all of the bags. The tea is very smooth with no bitterness or astringency. Its probably just me but I think the tea taste better w/o the bag. So. I’m going to up my rating a few points as I really like this tea.
Preparation
This is a very nice assam. While its not the best I have had, its still very good and tasty. There is no bitterness and it still has a malty taste. I tried the directions from Teavana, 205 for 3 minutes. Its just not strong enough for an assam. It tasted like tea water. I have to steep from 4 to 5 minutes with boiling water to get the effect that I like.
Preparation
I drank this tea last night and I really don’t know what to make of it. The taste was so-so to say the least. I still have some experimenting to do with this tea. I may have had the water too hot so I really do need to give it a chance before I give up on it. But so far, this tea is bleh.
Preparation
This is a brisk tasty tea. I steeped longer to bring out the assam and it surely did. This is a more robust tea than my normal Keemun and I like it much better. I add 1/4 tsp of splenda to breakfast blends. It has a brown amber color to it and you can smell the assam. This tea has a kick to it when steeped longer than 3 min. No bitterness or astringency and I like it.
Preparation
This is the first Teavana tea that I have liked so far. I was prepared when I went in with what I wanted as I really don’t like the pushy clerks they have there. But I do like Assam tea and this is a very nice Assam. Its amber in color and has that distinctive assam smell and taste. The malty taste was there also. It wasn’t bitter at all and had just a little bit of astringency. I have had much better assam teas, but this one was nice.
Preparation
First of all, this is a huge tea bag. The tea is whole leaf and is in a pyramid bag. It will steep 16 to 20 ounces of tea. The tea is a brown amber in color. It is a brisk mellow tea with no bitterness or astringency. I found it marked down at TJ Maxx, therefore a bargain. I like it much better than Awake (Tazo). Its very easy to drink w/o sugar or milk. A very nice tea.
Preparation
Bagged tea this morning as I have things to do. Going on a tea hunt today, I do this a couple times a month, you never know what you will find. Teavana, Williams-Sonoma, T.J. Maxx, Christmas Tree Shop, etc… I always have this tea in my cupboard. My parents used Twinings teas as it was the only quality tea they could find at the time. So bear in mind that I am very used to this tea and probably biased as well. It just feels like home when I drink this tea. I like the amounts of bergamot in it and it tastes like home.
