421 Tasting Notes
This smells awesome prior to infusion/steeping. Great mix of berries and plum scents were coming through before I added the water. Major blackberry smell coming from my cup post infusion/steeping. I’m not really tasting the mint or apple. There’s always a fix for that add some more! I really like this. Very refreshing and it will hopefully get me to 4pm. If not there’s always the Oolong I have too!
Preparation
On of the new teas I purchased yesterday on what I should now call “Our crazy tea tour”. Check out my blog: http://littlemewbrew.teatra.de/blog/ for more on that. This tea is pretty good, I can’t say I’ve had an assam ever. But maybe I have but it was called something else? Anyway this is very malty and I really like that on this (finally) chilly morning in Upstate NY. I steeped it perfectly, no bitterness at all. However, there may be some bitterness to being back at work…I swear no one can do a thing when I’m out….right more tea!
Preparation
I like my tea twin KeeneTeaThyme am on a quest for a good chai. I thought this could be a real contender. I’d heard good things from friends who swear by Republic of Tea teas. But this was SUPER weak with one bag. I even prepared said teas as Republic of Tea suggested (simmered, milk, and honey) and it was still weak. I will try to double up on the bag as another Steepster suggested.
Backlogging. Hello yummy tea! First off opening the tin made my chocolate senses tingle! A very chocolaty scent drifts out of the tin and I honestly just wanted to eat the tea pouch. But I didn’t, no I followed the directions and waiting “patiently” for my tea to be ready. Once it was ready to drink I promptly burned my mouth I wanted to drink it that badly! The chocolate flavor was very pronounced in this tea and I really enjoyed it.
Preparation
My twin in all things including tea KeenTeaThyme (KiTT) sent me a sample of this that I am just now trying. (I have a lot of samples to try – so much tea, so little time! This really lemon flavored but not in a bad way at all. More in a "man I could gulp this down in a heartbeat kinda way! I had it iced very refreshing. I need that today as it seems everyone here at work is literally working my last nerve!
Preparation
I’ve never had an Oolong before. That being said this smelled really great when I opened the package…a bit like lemon squares and I LOVE lemon squares! The great smell continues as the tea steeps…good sign. But again I’m not clear as to what this really should taste like so… it isn’t bad. Of course it isn’t WOW either. I’d drink it again but I’m not sure I’ll restock once this sample is done.
Preparation
I recommend trying some unflavored Oolongs first, so that you can get an idea of what they are like without the flavoring. And keep in mind that there are many types of Oolong, and how long they’re oxidized affects the flavor.
There are a lot of great ones from Chicago Tea Garden, thepuriTea, and Naivetea and so many more. If you want more suggestions from me then please feel free to DM me. :-)
My tea shop has this! I think it would be amazing in a chicken stock. There’s also an entry for this under David’s Tea which is likely where my shop gets it from. Good to know so I can enter it there vs my local shop.
Round two (and a fresh batch of tea) is really bringing out all the berry flavors in this tea. Holy Berries Batman comes to mind! The taste is of course unique too. This time as I said lots of berry flavor and the green tea. I’m in tea heaven right now…maybe I’ll touch back down to earth when it’s time to go home. Then again maybe I’ll just float home instead!
Preparation
Ok I cannot even begin to tell you what is in this tea – sure there’s a list of what’s in it, but each sip reveals something new! I’m getting hints of apricot, watermelon, raspberry, ginger, peach, and lemongrass. Def getting the green tea too. I’ll tell you it is awesome and perfect for the scorcher we are feeling today in Upstate NY! Served iced = perfection!
Definitely want to try this when our Teavana opens in a couple weeks.
I could send you a sample if you like?
Nah, that’s ok. It’s only a few weeks away and I want to go there anyway (SO excited about being able to get matcha at the mall!). Thank you very much for the offer though.
No problem – figured I’d offer.
