45 Tasting Notes
I am especially fond of flowering teas so my review is a bit biased! I could see someone more impartial to them being less of a fan.
Personally, I was delighted to discover this tea is just as good iced as it is cold, especially with a small bot of honey in it. The “honeydew” flavour does have a tinge of articial-ness too it I will admit, but it is not cloying nor is it overwhelming.
It has a scent similar to fresh dandelions, along with its smooth melon vibe.
Overall it was a sweet, light tea with a good balance of fruity and floral- very reminiscent of spring. The bug itself bloomed nicely, and did just fine on a second steep.
Flavors: Dandelion, Floral, Grass, Honey, Honeydew, Melon
Preparation
This tea is better off iced IMO, though I am not fond of either I can certainly see why someone would like this tea over ice, especially with a bit more sweetness added in or mixed into a pure tea.
To be fair, I am not the biggest fan of hibiscus so this tea was starting off on the wrong foot with me. However I still feel like this tea was overly sour and bitter. I think it would benefit from being mixed in with some black tea.
Hot, it is very tart as you would expect, but here is a weird texture that coats your tongue, maybe from the flavouring? I also tasted a kind of odd smokiness, and the blackberry flavouring is pretty overwhelming.
Flavors: Berry, Blackberry, Rhubarb, Smoke, Sour, Tart
Preparation
This was a weird one for me. I really disliked it on it’s own-It was much more sour than I expected it would be. I suppose that to be fair, it tasted pretty much as described. There are very strong overwhelming hibiscus and cherry notes, with the beet and carrot sort of coming out a bit at the end. This is not a very complex tea, and is mostly just strongly fruity and sour.
However, I found that when you combine it with some white or green pure tea, the flavour softens up and is in my opinion much more pleasant. Overall, I really liked this blend much more when you are using it to mix with another tea than I do trying to drink it on its own.
Flavors: Carrot, Cherry, Hibiscus, Sour, Tart
Preparation
I was surprised by how much I liked this tea! Personally after trying it a few different ways, I prefer it as a hot latte.
Interestingly, it tastes much more of sugar or custard than it does of jasmine. I think the jasmine and the fruity apple notes come out more as end notes. Iced, the jasmine notes come out a little more, while a hot latte seems to help favour the fruitiness.
Something about it actually kind of reminds me of an apple pie. Overall, it doesn’t taste how I expected it to at all, but I did still very much enjoy it.
Flavors: Apple, Custard, Jasmine, Pineapple, Sweet
Preparation
I really thought I would like this one, it sounded a little bit like “The Earl’s Valentine” from DavidsTea, of which I am very fond. However, this tea was just off.
It tasted overly tart, and not sweet enough. An added splash of cream dragged it into the “dessert” category I was expecting, but it was still cloyingly artificial.
I think strawberry chocolate tea sounds great conceptually, but that the addition of artificial flavouring is really throwing off what could have been a good thing.
Flavors: Artificial, Cocoa, Dirt, Strawberry, Tart, Vanilla
Preparation
I might be biased because I typically cannot drink chai blends (allergic to peppercorns) but I was quite fond of this!
It was sweet and pleasant, kind of reminiscent of a gingerbread cookie? I like it with a small splash of cream, but it was good on it’s own too.
I did not get very much “kick” of spices that is typical of a chai, but it was a very pleasant desert blend after dinner. I got a lot of the vanilla and nutty notes, with a little bit of cinnamon and cardamom on the end.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cookie, Ginger, Vanilla
