484 Tasting Notes
I was on vacation last week, and on the way back we stopped at a Teavana store. It was my first time in one, and they were having a sale, so I decided to pick up a couple of teas and a tea brewing pitcher. I made some cold brew sweet tea in that for my husband, which hopefully he likes. (I personally cannot stand the amount of sugar in sweet tea). Since I’ve been searching for an herbal peach tea that doesn’t taste disgustingly artificial and sweet, I decided to try this. It is quite sweet, and the artificial peach flavor is prominent, but it has enough underlying complexity that I think it’s actually the best herbal peach tea I’ve had. I’ll probably try blending it with a few things in the days to come and see how that turns out.
Flavors: Peach, Sweet
Preparation
This was an ok tea. I really like cinnamon and clove, which were the predominant flavors here, but it felt like it was missing something. I would not be opposed to drinking it again, but I probably won’t buy it again.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Clove
Preparation
I have been having some heartburn with the second half of my pregnancy, so I decided to try this tea. It had a mild minty/herbal flavor, and did provide some short term relief. However, I think the spearmint in the tea actually aggravated my heartburn in the long run. Chamomile tea seems to be a better choice for me, as it reduces my heartburn by a small but noticeable amount for a significant length of time. I may try marshmallow without mint in the future, but I won’t be buying this again.
Flavors: Herbs, Mint
Preparation
I tried the bagged version of this. It is quite good. It has a nice blend of spices, and just a hint of pumpkin to give it a unique twist. The underlying tea flavor was smooth and not at all bitter. I wish the pumpkin flavor was a little stronger, but I think I’ll be buying more regardless.
Flavors: Pumpkin, Spices
Preparation
I tried the bagged version of this. It’s a pleasant chocolate tea, but I couldn’t taste the hazelnut at all, which disappointed me. It is decaf, which is a big plus for me, since I’m extremely sensitive to caffeine, but it didn’t taste as good as Stash’s Black Forest Cake – it was a bit bitter, and didn’t have as complex a flavor. I’ll probably buy this again though, unless I find a decaf chocolate tea I like better.
Flavors: Chocolate
Preparation
This was a rather interesting tea. The smell was somewhat medicinal, so I was a bit concerned, but it tasted good. It was a very mild tea that reminded me of granola – cinnamon, nuts and oats. I think Celestial Seasonings’ Bengal Spice is still my favorite cinnamon tea, but I might end up picking up more of this as it’s a VERY different experience.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Nuts, Oats
Preparation
I’ve been a fan of Bigelow’s vanilla chai since college. The cafeteria stocked it, so I drank it with some regularity. The problem was that I am very sensitive to caffeine, so I couldn’t drink it as often as I wanted to. So I am very pleased to find a decaf vanilla chai that I enjoy. I might even like this better than Bigelow’s. The vanilla comes through very will, and it’s very smooth, not bitter at all. I will definitely be getting more of this.
Flavors: Smooth, Spices, Vanilla
Preparation
I don’t know if I just got a bad batch or what, but this tasted like honeybush with a chemical or alcoholic aftertaste. It didn’t taste like peanuts, or chocolate at all. I did not enjoy it. I’m very disappointed, since there are some reviews that make it sound really good.
Flavors: Alcohol, Artificial, Wood
