I was suprised at how much I liked this tea, considering I am still not a huge coffee person (there’s only a couple of ways I can drink it, both involve lots of milk, LOL). I liked the taste better than the smell on this one, and I may actually purchase some so that I can drink it when I’m craving coffee but can’t actually get coffee.

Yay! Glad it works for you!

A decent cup! This tastes like a cross between a pu’erh and a black, which is a flavour profile I think I like. I also got a citrus/orange taste that reminded me a little of Berry Good (also a pu’reh), though I like Berry Good much better (probably due to the strawberry influence). This isn’t something I’d likely pick up again (too many teas as it is, and pu’erhs are really hit or miss for me), but I enjoyed this while I had it.

drank Hot Chocolate by DAVIDsTEA

I’m wary of a lot of pu-erh teas, because I have a tendency to oversteep them, and they’re much too bold even for my liking. As a result, I watched this one like a hawk, and took the tea bag out after 6-7 minutes. Again, I added milk, hoping to combat the general earthy base that pu-erh is known for and one I’m not a huge fan of. I was really surprised by how much I liked this. It was chocolatey, yes, but not sickly sweet like a lot of other chocolate teas can be. True, it does taste slightly watered down from a true hot chocolate, but this is a brilliant adaptation of that taste into a tea.

I will admit – I don’t think I’ve ever eaten French toast in my life, LOL. As a result, I have no idea if this is comparable to the food. I had this for breakfast this morning (black teas are my fave!), and I added some milk, thinking it might bring out the sweetness a little more than if I just drank it straight. And mmmm, this was delicious. Warm and comforting, sweet and spicy… Thumbs up on this one, for sure.

Ah yeah! I take this with milk and sugar and it’s delish!

This is on par with White Chocolate Frost – peppermint and chocolate are pretty much the same to me, regardless of whatever base the tea is, or whatever other ingredients you throw into the mix. This was good as an after dinner tea, and it’s one I’ll probably get more of at some point before the collection goes away.

drank Sweet Almond Green by DAVIDsTEA

Holy almond, Batman! The smell of this one is straight-up almond extract, or marzipan or something else delicious. Mmmm. I think I thought I liked almond taste better than I actually do, because now that I’ve had some of this one, my original OMG WOW thoughts have tapered off. It’s a flavoured green, which I do like better than the straight ones, but I think I oversteeped this one, as the taste is almost too powerful. A good problem to have, LOL.

drank Mulled Wine by DAVIDsTEA

I love mulled wine (especially Glühwein), so when I picked up samples of the winter collection today, this was the first tea I tried. The smell is so good. It’s a real heavy tea, so I used up most of my 10g in one shot. Kind of annoying, and unfortunately, that does knock the rating down a little. As does the fact that I can’t really taste the oolong base. I did steep this for longer than recommended, and I did really like the taste that I got with it. I just wish I was getting more for my buck this one, as oolongs aren’t cheap, and this could probably taste just as good as an herbal.

Kristal

Have yet to try it (it’s in my 24 days of tea though), and I always agree if you cannot taste the base very well, make it a herbal.

I actually really like this, which is kind of surprising, considering it’s a plain green. It’s not a Japanese green, so maybe that’s it? I feel like I enjoy straight greens when they’re not from that region, weirdly enough. I may have oversteeped it just slightly, but I finished the cup rather quickly – that’s a sign for me for greens that it was decent, haha.

I’ve yet to meet a straight green I really enjoy, so this kind of has me curious if it could be a regional thing. I’d never thought of it!

raven22

It certainly could be! I’d say try a green not based in Japan and see what you think!

drank Tippy Ceylon Black by DAVIDsTEA

Mmm, this one is delicious! Straight black tea is my first love when it comes to tea, and the quality of this one is excellent. I don’t often get to have a pure Sri Lankan, so I was happy to get a sample of this one. Alas, it’s expensive, so I imagine this will be all I’ll get, but I will happily enjoy it. I added a little bit of milk to taste, though I think this one would be divine all on its own.

An… interesting taste, and definitely too earthy for me. The smell was pretty good – I do love spices, but there was also something in this one that reminded me of eggnog, which is something I definitely do not enjoy, haha. I only had a 10g sample (and my mother took most of it), and honestly, this was plenty strong enough. I really watched the steep time on this one, and I’m glad, as this was plenty strong after five minutes. I’m glad I tried this (in my everlong quest to sample as much from DT as I can), but definitely not a repurchase.
